Chapter 1
“What a useless omega! This is what happens when you touch Ms. Donovan’s stuff! Take that!”
“Look at how disgusting you are with that ridiculous shabby red hair! What a disgrace to the Campbells! You useless tramp who doesn’t even have any wolf in you!”
Tina’s body was mercilessly and ruthlessly clawed by their sharp nails and kicked as she cowered in the corner. She did not dare to resist the two old maids for that would only lead to more anguish.
The beatings lasted for nearly an hour until she almost blacked out. Then, as suddenly as it began, the women suddenly stopped, most likely because they became bored and started to walk away. It was only when the sounds of their footsteps died out along the long corridor that Tina took a few breaths cautiously.
Tina winced painfully when felt her swollen left cheek, where there was an unsightly birthmark. It was a mark of her uselessness and disgrace. She had been beaten by two of Grace’s maids for knocking over her coat rack while doing her chores. The mistreatments happened almost every day. No one around there pitied her but they were right. She was just a useless omega. When she came of age three months ago, there was not a trace of a wolf detected within her.
A werewolf without any wolf within it was better off dead.
By the way, something even more heartbreaking happened to her on the day she came of age.
That high and mighty alpha, Mason, r***d her in a monstrous drunken stupor.
She was in immense pain and fear throughout the assault. As she was sobbing in resignation, he pulled up his pants, and said to her, “Tina, I can’t believe what I just did. I feel nauseous just looking at that face of yours... You’d better not tell anyone about this or I will make sure you pay dearly.”
Thereafter, she felt a great deal of heartache and could not believe that she once saved this man. She was an orphan who was taken in by the family to work as a maid. During a family outing, they were attacked by a hostile race, and she used her frail body to selflessly protect Mason so that he could return home safely.
She thought that Mason would be appreciative of her dedication to him. However, not only was he ungrateful, he became colder and even more brutal toward her. It was as if he was disgusted by her very existence. When Mason finally found his mate, Grace Donovan, who also was a high alpha, she became a punching bag for the two to vent their anger.
Tina did not want to cause any trouble and she just wanted to survive, but...
Tina lowered her hands and gently stroked her bulging belly.
She was pregnant with Mason’s baby.
The heavens seemed to enjoy making a fool out of her, just for laughs. However, this was one that she could not find any humor in.
She was at a loss.
Tina struggled to her feet and grabbed a rag off the floor. She had to quickly finish her chores for the day or Grace would accuse her of malingering and she would get another beating.
“Tina.”
A man’s frosty voice was heard from behind her. She was startled and the rag fell to the ground.
Tina slowly turned around and asked, “Mr. Campbell, what may I do for you?”
Mason held a glass of wine and gently twirled its contents. “Have you forgotten what I said?”
“Mr. Campbell, I...”
“How many times have I said that you are not allowed to be here as I will come here to get some wine around this time? I’m so sick of seeing your face.”
Thereafter, he splashed the red wine onto Tina’s face.
She backed up in horror and did not dare to say a word as she hastily wiped the floor clean.
“I’m really sorry, Mr. Campbell, it won’t happen again. I... I’m leaving now.” She turned and fled.
“What a disgusting woman,” he said with utter disdain, and the words pierced straight through Tina’s heart.
Tina hastily fled into a storage room and closed the door. Her chest heaved violently, while her hand subconsciously covered her abdomen, forcing herself to calm down for the sake of her unborn baby.
This caused Tina to feel absurd and desperate.
Even in such a situation, she still could not ignore her maternal instincts. Although her unborn baby was a reminder of the blatant violation of her, she could not help but love her child. She also realized that this child had brought a ray of light into her dark and miserable life. Although she was surrounded by evil, the thought of a new life within her warmed her heart.
“Tina, where the hell are you?” A familiar voice called her from outside the room. Tina, who just managed to relax, tensed up again.
“You knocked my clothes down from the rack and now they are ruined. You must go with me to buy some new clothes. All my clothes are made from the finest material and you can never afford one. The cost of the clothes will be deducted from your salary until all of them are fully paid!”
Tina just nodded mechanically and replied in a daze, “I’m sorry, Ms. Donovan, I’ll pay you for them, regardless of how much they cost.”
Grace stomped out with Tina scurrying closely behind without even the time to change out of her filthy work clothes.
It was dusk and night had fallen. Grace’s clothes were all custom-made with the finest fabric. It was already dark when the driver pulled up in front of the old tailor’s shop.
Tina emptied her wallet and could only afford the deposit. She had to pledge the following six months of salary so that she could pay for the rest of Grace’s clothes.
As they passed through a dense forest on their way home, a blinding light suddenly shone in front of the car. The driver braked sharply and the car screeched to a stop. Two black figures emerged from nowhere and slit the driver’s throat.
Tina was shocked and paralyzed with fear. Before she could react to what had happened, large calloused hands covered her mouth tightly, and then a hood was thrown over her head.
“Help! Help...” She tried to scream for help but then felt exceedingly drowsy and then passed out...
She began to hear sobs nearby.
Tina managed to move her fingers as consciousness gradually returned. She struggled to open her eyes and found herself lying on the concrete floor amid unfamiliar surroundings that seemed to be an abandoned warehouse.
The sobs came from across the room, where a woman sat with her hair draped over her face.
Tina struggled to sit up and called out, “Ms. Donovan...”
When Grace heard her voice, she looked up, narrowed her eyes, and yelled, “It’s your fault! If you hadn’t soiled my clothes, we wouldn’t have needed to come out, and this wouldn’t have happened! You’re such an i***t!”
Tina shook her throbbing head and a sense of panic came over her. She then thought of the baby in her belly and became surprisingly calm.
“Those kidnappers...” Tina looked around and saw a fire lit at the entrance to the warehouse, where two men in black were on guard. “Ms. Donovan, don’t cry, money should be what they are after. Otherwise, they would have killed us long ago.”
“Shut the hell up! Mason will save me. There’s no need for you to talk! You disgusting omega!”
Then, the two men walked over and one of them pointed his cell phone toward the woman.
“Mr. Mason, I’ll get straight to the point. There’re two women here, which one do you choose to save?”
There was little hesitation as the person replied, “Let Grace go and I will transfer 200 million dollars to you right now.”
The man in black looked over and asked, “Which one of you is Grace?”
“Me! It’s me!” Grace yelled frantically. “Mason! Save me quickly, I don’t want to die in a place like this.”
“Outstanding!” The man in black laughed loudly, “Mr. Campbell, aren’t you going to save this miserable woman? She looks so pitiful and seems to have something to say to you.”
Tina realized at this point that this might be her last chance for survival.
She thought of the child in her belly, gritted her teeth, and shouted desperately “Mason, I’m pregnant! Please save me! I know you hate me, but it’s your baby! Mason, I’m begging you.”
The man’s eyes lit up and asked, “How about it, Mr. Campbell? I’ll let her go for another 50 million dollars. That’s quite a bargain for two lives!”
The phone was silent for a couple of seconds until he said coldly, “Grace is my wife and I will only save her.”
Tina felt the entire world spinning when he hung up the call.
What evil...
He was the devil incarnate!
Even if he did not feel for her, how could he not save his flesh and blood? What a joke!
“Sir, I beg you, please let me go... as you can see, I’m totally useless to you. Let me go. I promise that I won’t call the police and won’t mention today’s incident to anyone... Please let me go! I have an innocent child in my belly!”
As she begged, she heard a woman laughing softly behind her.
“What a damn fool.”
Tina froze and turned around to find Grace slowly and methodically straightening her clothes. Her behavior had totally changed.
“Ms. Donovan, you...”
“Tina, I really feel sorry for you. I already know what happened between Mason and you. I’m even aware that you’re pregnant. As Mason’s mate, I hope that he will always be loyal to me alone. You’re just his unwanted trash.” Grace leaned over, grabbed Tina’s throat, and said, “Trash belongs in the landfill, isn’t it?”
Tina’s heart sank into the abyss.
She lunged forward and tried to grab Grace’s hair as anger raged throughout her. She refused to cower cowardly anymore!
However, before she could grab anything, she was held back by the man in black.
“Grace... you are just as evil as Mason. You’re both devils!”
Tina was trembling angrily. It was only at this moment did she realize from Grace’s villainous laughter that all these were Grace’s doing. A strength gradually gathered within her body and grew with her increasing anger. She felt the power grow so intensely until it erupted and she roared fiercely. The sudden outburst of energy was so strong that it threw the man several meters away.
“This... this can’t be!” Grace exclaimed, “You don’t have any wolf within you! You can’t possibly have this much strength! Quickly! Hand me the dagger now!”
Grace grabbed the dagger, swung her arm, and the sharp tip of the dagger was driven deep into Tina’s chest.
Tina’s eyes widened as she felt the sharp and cold blade plunge into her beating heart. The intense pain shot from her chest to the rest of her body.
“Go to hell!” Grace yelled as she picked up the container of gasoline at her feet and splashed the pungent liquid all around Tina.
“Tina, good riddance.”
The fire raged instantly.
Amid the roaring fire, Tina felt her body being torn apart by some great force. A golden light glowed before her eyes, and her wolf gradually emerged in an incomparably strange and powerful aura...
