CHAPTER TWO

Anya sighed as she placed the few clothes she had inside a small bag. She was going to leave the pack. No one would notice anywhere and even if they did, she was sure they wouldn't be bothered. Rowan suddenly opened the door and Anya quickly kicked the bag away, hiding it. "What are you doing?" Rowan asked. She kicked it too late and he saw it already. "I'm just arranging my things. You complained my room is too scattered." She said instead, not telling him the truth. "But now it's too clean and arranged. It looks like no one is here." He laughed as he sat on her bed. "Why are you putting all your stuffs into a bag?" He asked, staring at her slowly. "Well, just because. I'm supposed to ask why you always barge into my room without knocking." She said, diverting the conversation. Rowan rolled his eyes as he lied down, stretching his hands widely on the bed. "I'm so tired." He muttered and then suddenly remembered. "So what the hell happened yesterday that made you leave the party?" He asked. "I told you I was feeling a bit sick." She replied. "But you said you wanted to find your mate at all costs yesterday. That you were going to stay to the end of the party." He said and Anya sighed inwardly, remembering how she had cried and murmured all through yesterday before the party. And how few hours before it, she had dolled herself up and gathered all traces of hope together and finally, she remembered how it was crushed last night. "I reject you, Anya. I do not... accept you as my mate!!" Brandon had said and she had stared at him for a very long time. Her throat couldn't form any word, even though she had a lot to say. She had expected it and ran it over her mind a million times if she saw her mate and he rejected her, yet no matter how little the hope you had was, nothing else mattered. Brandon stared at her shortly and bumped into her, walking away. At that moment, all the unshed tears ran down her face speedily and she cried... "Anya!!" Rowan called and she stared at him, pausing her thoughts. "Are you okay?" He asked and she smiled, nodding. Rowan sighed slowly and walked towards her. "Anya, what's wrong? If you can't talk to me...." "I don't really want to talk about it." Anya interrupted immediately and zipped her bag, getting up to sit on her bed. Rowan was a good friend, a very good one and someone she could trust but Rowan had done a lot for her. After she lost both parents, Rowan was always there for her. He was the only one who didn't reject her. Everyone else stopped talking to her at one point or the other, especially when her wolf didn't come out. She didn't want to put anymore responsibility on him any longer. "I can't believe this, Anya. When did you start keeping secrets from me, huh?" He asked. "Rowan." "Are you leaving?" He suddenly asked, staring at her. She had said it hundreds of times that she was going to leave the pack. "No...I..." "Then why are you packing your things? Did you..... " He paused for a long time and Anya raised a brow. "Did you find your mate?" He asked and Anya looked away slowly. She didn't like lying to Rowan, not after all he had done. "Did you?" Rowan asked again, in a low voice, hoping she would say no. "I did." She suddenly replied. "I found my mate, Rowan." She said again. "So you are going to live with him?" He shot immediately, getting angry. "No, of course not. I would not do that." Anya replied surprised. "Then where are you going to without telling me?" He asked quickly. "It's Brandon!!" Anya said and Rowan stopped talking for a moment. "Brandon?" He asked and she nodded. "But he has a girlfriend." He said immediately and Anya sighed. "Exactly. I even forgot about that for a while." She said slowly as she sighed. "Did you...does he knows?" Rowan asked in a quiet tone too. "He felt it, Rowan. " Anya said and Rowan scoffed lightly. "I wish it was just like those tropes where only I would feel it and see he wouldn't. It's better than being rejected." She muttered as tears came out of her eyes and Rowan bit his lips tightly. "You shouldn't be crying because of a guy like that. That jerk! How dare he do that?" Rowan clenched his fists. He couldn't go ahead to fight Brandon. He would probably lose his life in the battle. Brandon had the wolf of an alpha and he just had the wolf of a warrior. He was being trained in the warriors group and was so close to being the best, but yet a warrior is still not enough to beat an alpha wolf.
