looking at her, "What happened? Or you aren't going to tell me again?" He asked.
"I'm not." She muttered, "Even I don't know. But I think it has to do with my fear of water."
Rowan didn't say anything but just kept quiet, he knew that even if he pushed forward she would not tell him anything, so he changed the topic instead.
"So what are you planning to do?" Rowan asked, shaking his head. He was a little bit happy that Brandon had rejected her, that gave him a very good chance. But still, Anya didn't feel the mate bond between them. He was the only feeling it, something he never expected could have happened.
Anya sniffed slowly as she cleared her throat, sighing afterwards, understanding what he was talking about.
"Don't tell me you are going to leave the pack, Anya?" He asked, urgently.
"I am. Look...by now, the news must have spread around. I can't take it and I know for sure that my wolf isn't coming out any longer, that makes me a more viable prey to bullies." She said, as a matter of fact.
"But you can't leave, this is your pack. Your parents won't be happy if they see you left it." Rowan argued.
"Then they shouldn't have left me in the first place! Rowan, there's nothing left for me here. I know you know that." She said, her eyes getting red cos of the tears.
"Rowan, I'm going to leave. There's nothing stopping me this time." She bit her lips, fixing her hand in her thick dark hair.
"Okay fine..." Rowan sighed loudly.
"I'm leaving with you!" He said and Anya blinked.
"Are you crazy, Rowan?" She gasped, looking at him unbelievably.
"How can you say that? What would happen to your family, your training, your life....your..your mate? You have a lot here. You can't afford to risk that." She said and Rowan smirked.
"I can risk it. My family just have to know where I'm going and the training, it wouldn't matter. My mate? Hmmm....she doesn't even know we are mates."
"What?" Anya asked shocked.
"I felt the mate bond, but she didn't feel it." Rowan explained and Anya gasped. Then she scoffed multiple times.
"Are you sure the moon goddess isn't playing tricks with us right now?" She asked and Rowan smiled.
"I'm not sure." He said.
"How can you laugh at this moment?" Anya gasped and he smiled more. She smiled too, slowly and then got serious after few seconds, staring at him seriously.
"I'm pretty sure your mate would feel it. You are a good guy, Rowan and the bestest bestie anyone could ask for?" She said and he chuckled.
"Bestest?" He rolled his eyes and scoffed.
"But Rowan, I think this is the time for me to find myself. And this is your time too. Make a life. Who knows, when your mate realizes all she missed, she will want to marry you as quick as possible?" She joked again and Rowan scoffed lightly.
"You think so?" He asked and she nodded.
"I have to leave myself. I promise you'll visit me." She said.
"I'm the one supposed to be promising that, Anya, not you." He said and she smiled.
"Now?" He asked and she shook her head, signifying 'no'.
"Tonight." She whispered and he smirked.
"Then let's have some fun till then." He said and stretched his hand. She smirked and held it tight and they left the room together.
------
Anya screamed loudly as Rowan poured a lot of water on her, using his hands. They were at the pack's waterfall, one of the most beautiful places.
"Are you for real, Rowan? Take that back!!!" She screamed and poured him water too, multiple times till he got entirely drenched.
"Anya, that was too much." He pouted and suddenly, started pouring her more. She laughed loudly and jumped, moving back. Then suddenly, she felt a hand behind her, directly at her back, a small push and a loud scream and she was inside the water.
She felt goosebumps all over her body as she went into the water. Her eyes widened and her lips opened slightly as she stretched her hands, trying so hard to stay afloat.
"Help!"
The dreams, the dreams were happening. She was going to die.
"Save me!"
Rowan's eyes widened and he jumped into the immediately towards her drowning self.
"Anya." He screamed as he caught hold of her hand and swam quickly, taking her out of the water.
Her eyes were closed and she had already stopped breathing.
"Anya, wake up." He patted her cheek slowly and proceeded to give her CPR, applying pressure on her chest.
She coughed out water and breathed heavily as her eyes opened, they were so red.
"Are you okay?" He asked and she gasped, nodding slowly. She had thought she was going to die.
"Rowan..." She called shakily, her whole body vibrating. She was a mess, they knew that and that was why they always tried to play her.
Rowan got up angrily, fisting his hands as he walked towards Brandon.
"How dare you do that?" He shot angrily and Brandon raised a brow.
"How dare I..." He scoffed slowly in mockery.
"Do you know she can't swim? She's hydrophobic and she was just getting over the fear of water when you spoiled everything, by pushing into it. Don't you have common sense? How can you just push someone into the water like that?!!" Rowan growled angrily, his wolf getting annoyed and Brandon scoffed again.
"So what are you going to do? Fight me?" Brandon smirked and Rowan scoffed. Brandon ran his eyes over Anya, he never knew she was hydrophobic. Then why the hell was she playing beside water of she was hydrophobic? Why couldn't she stay at home? Stupid.
"You are so childish." Rowan muttered and walked away, going back to Anya.
"Let's leave." He said and helped her get up, leading her away but Brandon suddenly blocked their path.
"Get out." Rowan said.
"I wondered how you talk to a pack's alpha to be like that." Brandon said. He was going to teach Rowan a lesson for calling him childish, he was everything but not childish and he was going to show him that, maybe not today but someday.
"Well, you are not yet the alpha, you can take it out on me when you become one." Rowan said, undauntedly.
"That's fair." Brandon smirked playfully and turned to look at Anya.
"So after rejecting you as my mate, you got another guy to flirt with so quickly?" He said and someone suddenly gasped.
It was Lyla. Brandon's girlfriend. The self acclaimed Luna to be.
"What....what did you just say?" Lyla asked as she came closer, with her two friends, Jasmine and Butter, "She's your mate?"
"Let's go." Anya said quietly as she tugged at Rowan's shirt. This was enough embarrassment for a day.
"Go where? Don't tell me you are in a hurry to leave." Brandon said and she bit her lips tightly.
"What do you want? Pushing me into the water wasn't enough?" She shot at him, "Do to know you almost took my life? Reject me and let me go in peace! Is that too hard for you to do?"
"Yes, dear. It hard. I won't stop till you leave. I wasn't that interested in you until the moon goddess made you my mate. Now I'm so interested." He smirked.
"Well, I'm not interested about you. And I'm going to leave, in a moment, I'll be out of your hair." She fired in reply and shot him an angry look, "I hate you, Brandon." She purposely bumped into him as she walked away with Rowan, her body shivering out of the near death experience.
"How could you be mated to a wolfless person?" Lyla shot as she wal
ked closer, eyeing Anya conspicuously.
"I thought we were meant to be mates." She whispered to Brandon.
"So what am I supposed to do about that? Am I the moon goddess?" He asked, staring at her retreating figure, a pang of guilt eating his heart.
