"Are you serious? Why do you need my help when you can kill them all by yourself?" I asked coldly towards him.
"Tsk! And much as I hate to admit this, a mortal like me is weak compared to vampires like you," I added as I turned my face away.
"Exactly... isn't that clear to you? You're a mortal so they won't think twice about approaching you," he answered with a small smirk crossed his face.
"In other words, a bait. I'll just be a pretty bait for those vampires that you're after." I just shook my head before meeting his gaze at once.
"Look...I need your help because a mortal like you serves as the best food for them," he said bluntly.
"Once they are attracted to your blood they will come to you willingly, and after that, you can kill them effortlessly with just your poisonous blood," he added confidently before folding his arms together.
I was silent for a moment as I realized that he had a point. Now I see without a single doubt that he can use me against his own kind.
"How about you? How can you help me find my parents?" I asked him promptly causing him to stare at me and lend a smile.
Just after that, he extended his hand to me and asked for my hand, "Give me your hand."
"Why? W-what are you going to do?" I hesitantly asked him.
"Just trust me," he replied shortly. Despite the doubt, I still gently reached for his hand that was waiting for me.
"I have the unique ability to see anyone's past just by touching their hands," I heard him explain when he finally held my hand.
"Through this, I can see your past and I can identify whoever the vampires abducted your parents," he added with a tone of confidence in his voice.
I just kept staring into his eyes and didn't open my mouth to speak. But after a few seconds, I immediately noticed his frown as if something bad was happening.
"What's happening? Why can't I see your past?" he asked under his breath as he showed me the puzzled look on his face.
"It's weird, I can't use my ability on you." He let go of my hand causing my eyebrows to meet.
If I'm not mistaken, this has happened before when Quintin's eye hypnosis didn't work on me. Is it possible that any vampire's ability doesn't work on me? But how?
Despite the questions that were forming in my mind, I still dared to ask him, "How can I be sure you are telling the truth about your ability?"
"It would be a clear violation of the agreement if I lied to you since it only means that I have no ability to find your parents," he immediately replied with a grin on his face. As if he was assuring me that he was true to his words.
I just let out a sigh before finally shifting my gaze to the contract paper in my hand and said, "Alright, I will trust you, Vampire Prince..."
"But the moment I find out that you lied and broke this agreement, I won't stop until you get the punishment you deserve!" I responded firmly as my two hazel eyes stared at him coldly.
"There's nothing you should worry about because I will never violate our agreement," I heard him answer before leaning his back on the backrest of the couch.
I took one last glance at the contents of the contract before finally deciding to sign it. When I finished, I gave him the contract paper which he immediately put on the table, and with just a flick of his finger his signature appeared above his written name.
"Now the agreement between the two of us is complete," his voice showed sincerity causing me to nod slowly.
PRESENT DAY
I put my hands in the pockets of my black leather jacket when I caught sight of a red sports car parked on the side of the road.
It was only a few minutes before I finally reached the car. I didn't even have to knock on its window because the butterfly door of the car opened immediately. Without a second thought, I went inside and sat next to this Vampire Prince Cairo.
"She's gone," he murmured, yet his voice was clear.
I was stunned for a second when I noticed a hologram in front of us where every face and identity of the vampires we needed to hunt down was placed.
He had shown it to me before and I was very surprised because I had no idea that there were so many vampires living here in our world.
"Are you sure she wasn't one of the vampires who took my parents?" I immediately asked him, referring to the vampire woman I killed earlier.
"Yes, I saw everything about her and there is nothing in her past about abducting your parents," he responded. He waved his hand at the hologram causing it to disappear in front of us.
"If we have nothing else to do, I'll get going..."
"I still have to run the mafia organization that Uncle Roman left me," I uttered saying goodbye to him, but he didn't say a word and just nodded softly in response.
I was about to leave his car when I was stopped because he quickly grabbed my arm and said, "Wait..." He waved his hand in front of him again to make the hologram appear.
"This vampire...do you recognize him?" he asked me right away, which only made my brows draw together.
My eyes narrowed as I looked at the vampire he was pointing at with his finger.
"I think I've seen him before," I whispered.
"He is Edward Huxxen, and just like your uncle, he's also the head of a mafia organization," he stated, which stunned me for a while.
"We can use your position as the new head of your organization so I can capture him," he added, which brought me back to my senses.
I shifted my gaze at him and met his amber eyes before asking, "Does this mean...he's our next target?"
"Yes," he replied shortly as a smirk graced his face.
