"Good evening, Miss Jade," Nanny Esther immediately greeted me with a soft voice the moment I entered the mansion. However, I didn't bother to speak and just lent her a smile instead.
"A letter came for you this afternoon," she added before she finally handed me a red envelope.
"Thank you, Nanny. You can rest now," I answered her immediately, causing her to nod softly.
As soon as Nanny Esther left, I automatically went to the living area which was just between the two huge stairs. After sitting down on the soft sofa, I wasted no time and quickly opened the red envelope to take out the letter inside.
"A letter of invitation?" I whispered when I read the first line of the letter.
"Dear Miss Jade Fonacier, It is my pleasure to invite you to my birthday in recognition of your leadership throughout the Scarlet Furtres organization..." the corner of my mouth lifted because of what I read about the contents of the letter.
I can't imagine how lucky I am that good fortune seems to be favoring me because this invitation comes from Lord Edward Huxxen himself.
I didn't hesitate to grab my phone and give the Vampire Prince a call. I crossed my legs while waiting for him to pick up his phone when suddenly I heard his voice on the line, "What is this?"
But instead of immediately telling him about the good opportunity we got, I was silenced for a moment because of his alluring voice that gave me an eargasm.
"Hey, what do you need?" when I heard his voice again, I couldn't help but swallow. I don't know why I find his voice sexy and attractive, but one thing is for sure, it won't do me any good.
"Get ready, we're going to a party tomorrow evening," I replied to him as I pulled myself together, and took a close look at the birthday invitation I was holding.
"And where is that?" he immediately asked me, putting a smile on my face before finally answering, "Let's just say that our next target is approaching his death."
FRIDAY, 7:00 P.M
The fragrant smell of expensive perfume almost covers the four corners of my closet room as I spray it all over my body.
"Miss Jade, someone is waiting for you outside," Nanny Esther's voice was gentle as she told me those words.
"Please tell him I'll be there in a few minutes," I responded, causing Nanny Esther to nod at me before she finally left to follow my request.
At the last second, I caught a glimpse of my own reflection in a full-length mirror, causing me to see the sheer elegance of the formal dress I was wearing. It was black and backless which just suits my auburn hair in a bun.
"It's time." I grabbed the black mask from the vanity table to complete my outfit tonight. The theme of the party is masquerade so we prepared ourselves for this night.
It didn't take long before I finally made it out of the mansion, but a gasp escaped my lips when I saw the Vampire Prince waiting for me outside.
He tilted his head to look at me before finally moving from leaning against the front of a black sedan. I saw his eyes were pinned over me and when our eyes met, for some reason I couldn't explain, I suddenly felt my heart beating wildly.
"You are dazzling," he greeted me with a charming smile. This drop-dead gorgeous vampire suits his ruby red suit very well.
"You too, y-you look handsome with that suit," I answered when I got close to the car behind him and turned my face away from him. I was about to open the car door when I stopped because he preceded me in doing it.
I didn't bother to thank him at all because I believed that the compliments I gave him tonight were enough. When we both got into the car, he wasted no time and immediately started the car to leave.
Two hours passed and we finally arrived at the venue where Edward Huxxen's birthday celebration is currently being held.
"Let's get this over with," I heard Cairo say before he finally put on his red mask surrounded by glowing crystals below his eyes.
But before we finally left and rushed to the party, I first put on my black mask which was also surrounded by black and shiny crystals with black feathers as its main design.
We were about to approach the front desk at the entrance when I paused for a second because I felt him grab my hand and gently hook it on his arm. I glanced up at him causing me to witness an attractive smile on his face.
"Let's go," I heard him say before we continued walking towards the entrance of the venue.
"Good evening, Ma'am..."
"May I know your name so we can see if you are on the list?" A woman at the front desk asked me openly.
"I'm Jade Fonacier and he's my partner for tonight," I simply replied to her.
"Okay, Ma'am. Just a second..." She didn't hesitate to look for my name on the list she was holding.
"Sir, Ma'am, you can go inside. Enjoy the night," she finally said to us with a smile, causing me to nod slightly before thanking her, "Thank you."
We didn't waste a single moment and went inside instantly, only to find guests like us wearing masks while enjoying the night.
If my suspicions are right, almost all of the guests here are members of a mafia organization. Especially since I, the new leader of the Scarlet Furtres, was also invited.
Even though I can't recognize their faces now, I'm sure I've met them before when Uncle Roman used to take me to his meetings with the two mafia organizations that he says are allies of our organization.
Unfortunately, one of the two mafia organizations he considers allies is Blood Ruby, led by none other than Edward Huxxen.
"That's him, I saw him right there," Cairo said in a menacing yet soothing voice.
