2 months later…
I am in my truck heading to her house, having a conversation with my wolf as he is itching to get out and claim his mate. As I am leaving the pack house, my phone rings and it is Abacus. He is telling me that there is someone on our land that is not supposed to be there. I ask him what they are doing, and he says nothing, just walking around looking at everything. I ask him to tell me what the person looks like, as no one ever comes out this far or is just walking around. I now must call Mystery to let her know I can’t make it to our date today. I have something that I have to take care of. When I turn the truck around and get back to the pack house, the entire pack is there. Not that we have a big pack, we are a small pack of twenty and like to stay by ourselves. This person walking around now has everyone nervous and in an uproar. I got together with Abacus and we set out to go speak and find out why this person was walking around on our property looking around. When we get close to the edge of the property, I sniff the air and recognize the scent. It’s Mystery. I told Abacus to go back to the pack house and tell everyone that it was just someone who was lost, and I took care of it. He looks at me and I tell him I will talk to him later. I know at this point that I am going to have to tell the pack about her as well as tell and show her exactly what I am. I see her walking around the meadow and my nerves are frayed. I don’t know how she is going to react to this news, and I might lose her forever. I am taking very slow steps, being quiet and I glance across at her. Her red hair is blowing in the wind and her top is tight across her chest, which makes my mouth water as I look at her. She finally notices me and runs over to me and hugs me tight, her eyeliner has run down her face, and I can tell she has been crying. I rub her back, soothing her and ask her what is wrong. At first, she tried to tell me nothing, but I told her she could tell me anything and I wouldn’t look at her any differently if that was what she was worried about. She finally breaks down and tells me that her ex came to her apartment and tried to get in and it scared her, and she went there because she felt safe, and he didn’t know where it was. Now I am pissed. I could go rip his head off at this point, but I can’t show her that she is scared enough. My wolf is howling and screaming in my head, giving me a pounding headache, and I am trying to quiet him down, but he wants blood because someone hurt our mate. I walked her back to the pack house and told her she could stay with me if that made her feel safe. I can only hope she will accept me for who I am and that the pack will accept her as my mate, even though she has no wolf.
