All week long I have waited for tonight to get here. I knew when I saw her last week that she was my mate, now I just need to get her to know she is mine. Although I know this is going to be a long road because she is not a wolf, nor does she know anything about me or my pack. I also know the pack is going to have a hard time accepting her for that fact alone. I really must tread lightly as far as this is concerned, both for her and my pack. As I get into my beat-up Ford truck, I realize that I have never been this nervous before in my life, as well as excited at the same time. I walk through the doors of the bar and look around everywhere and don’t see her. I decide I am going to sit at a table and drink a few beers to kill some time to see if she comes in. My third beer in, the door opens and I see my alluring woman walk through the door looking around. Her eyes land on mine, but then she looks down at the floor like she is ashamed that I caught her looking at me. This makes my blood boil, because she is gorgeous, and I don’t understand why she would be ashamed of me catching her looking. I didn’t want to scare her off, so I just sat there a few minutes trying to think of what to say to her when I finally got my nerve to go talk to her. I look down at my watch and realize I have been sitting here for forty-five minutes, I’m a damn alpha, so I take one last sip of my beer and walk across the room. When I got over to the bar, she stood talking to the bartender, so I stood beside her and waited to order another beer for myself. I noticed standing there that she smelled like home to me, which threw me off even more than I was. I have never felt like this in my life. I wonder to myself if this is what it is like for all wolves once they meet their mates. She is finally done talking and I have ordered my beer. I take a deep breath and say" Hey, how are you? She looks around the bar like she doesn’t know who I am talking to, which confuses me because I don’t understand. She then looks at me and says, “are you talking to me?” This has me thrown for a loop, and I say, “yes.” She starts laughing, which in turn makes me laugh. It feels good to laugh. I have always been in charge of the pack and while sometimes I get to have some fun, most of the time, it must be serious, and I can’t remember the last time I laughed for real with someone else. At that point, I didn’t realize how tight my muscles had been until I felt the muscles relax. I asked her what her name was, and she told me Mystery. At first I thought she was joking until she said, “I know it’s odd, my parents have a crazy sense of humor.” I told her mine do too told me Sinister. We are both now sitting at the bar sipping beer, laughing like we have known each other forever. I now understand what the elders meant when they said when you find your mate you will understand what it feels like to finally feel like you are home. My home now lies with this normal girl that I met in a hole in the wall. I don’t know what to do at this point because I can’t just tell her what I am and bring her around the pack. I must know if she feels the same and if she can handle all this known information, as most people do not know we exist in the world. We have hidden our kind for many years, as normal people would not understand why we are the way we are. We sat and talked for the rest of the night. When she finally says she must leave, I ask her if I can walk her home and she says, “ Yes.” On the walk home she asks me the most absurd question anyone has ever asked me.
