One week later, Alpha William left for the werewolf council's meeting to discuss some principal issues.
Mira sat in a remote spot watching the pack train so hard, like there was no tomorrow.
As much as she wanted to join them and prove that their Luna wasn't just some weakling that could be blown away easily with the wind, she had to lie low for now. She wasn't that eager to attract danger to herself and her mate. She sighed as she thought about when she would be blessed to birth an heir for her dear husband.
"Thirsty?" she heard a familiar, manly voice ask and looked up. It was the Beta, Bruce Jades, holding a plastic bottle of purified water.
"Thanks!" she accepted it and unsealed the lid, then she finished all its contents in one go. She was really thirsty!
"Em... Luna Mira. Can I sit close to you? I would like to say something." he said nervously. This was the second time he looked like this.
"No probs,." she shrugged and made space for him to sit on the bench.
"Luna Mira, thanks once again for that night. My wolf Andre also wishes to thank you." he said.
"That's enough. Tell me something else." she responded.
"Ok. The Alpha asked me to teach you some self-defense moves while he's away. I hope you won't mind."
"Oh, I don't. When do we start?" she asked excitedly.
"Right now if you want," Bruce replied.
"Okay. To see your capabilities, pretend that someone perverted wanted to take you away. What would you do?" he asked.
"Run or kick his balls when I got the chance, use pepper spray. That's pretty much all I know." she said lazily.
"Alright. We'll start with the basics."
He took her to a private hall with two warriors guarding the entrance.
There, he taught her some simple defense/attack moves. To her, all the moves of the pack warriors, even the Alpha's, were child's play to her. With her physique, she could kill an Alpha easily with just a kick. Pretending to be some puny human every day isn't easy, you know. Well, her secret can't get out or she might as well just say bye to her peaceful life.
These days, the pack's attitude became softer towards her. Bruce had told them that she saved him from the brink of death in secret.
Her mother-in-law, however, continued referring things to eat, so she'd birth a child, though she knew they were useless. But no one said feeding a dead horse medicine won't bring it to life, right? Who knows if a miracle might happen?
So Mira slowly got along with her mother-in-law on the surface. The ex-Alpha just avoided her, but she didn't care.
Tina Powell always glared at Mira, who taunted her instead, causing her to gnash her teeth in ire.
"This damn Mira is so full of herself. All because she's the Luna- a position she doesn't deserve." she thought and began formulating plans to deal with Mira at the right time.
Meanwhile, a group of people- the Mages association gathered together in secret, in a deep part of the forest.
They discussed the presence of the new mage ruler that appeared at the White Flame Pack. The moment Leena's scepter broke, they did an investigation on why it happened and saw that an unknown powerful mage ruler was protecting the White Flame pack.
Such a mage can easily wipe them out. They couldn't provoke him!
"If we do find that person, let's ask him to be our king. We will then go heights." one of them suggested.
"Such a person prefers silence and hates disturbance. Leave him be." an older mage suggested. In total, there were only 30 of them left after Leena's scepter broke.
A broken scepter signifies that the person is no longer a mage coz in life, they only get one scepter and only that scepter can help them increase ranks. If broken, they lose their powers. Hence, Leena indeed, is no longer a mage.
She is fully at the disposal of the White Flame pack now, as a human.
While they were still discussing, a figure appeared in a golden hood. His back was facing them and light surrounded him from head to toe.
The mages all rose on seeing this and prostrated.
"We receive the holy one." they chorused and did obeisance.
"Rise!" the figure commanded.
"We thank the holy one!" they said in unsion and rose in orderly manner.
"Mages, I don't want to be king. I just wish to protect the White Flame pack..." the mysterious figure spoke.
The few words he spoke were like very loud music to them. It caused their scepter to experience abnormalities. Some scepters almost cracked.
"I hope I informed genuine people!" the figure said sternly and the others immediately chorused in agreement.
"I hope you will not disappoint me, mages." the figure finally said and vanished.
Sensing the mysterious person's aura no more, it seemed that he's left.
In either case, it's good that he left or they will die.
They slowly got up from the floor, and their scepters vanished from their hand into their spatial rings. Ha, after what happened just now, they realized just how precious their scepter is.
"You guys all heard the message. From now on, no one should trouble that pack if you want to live longer." said the head of the Mages who had bright green hair and grey eyes.
"Aye, Madam!" the others chorused and vanished.

Meanwhile, at the Werewolf council meeting.
It was held in the strongest Alpha's pack territory- The Moon's Favorite pack. As arrogant as the name sounds, they were indeed the strongest pack.
Alpha William saw that even kids of six were better than his 15-year-old warriors-to-be back at his pack. But he had nothing to worry about. So long as his pack was safe, and no harm came looking for them, he was fine, even if they ranked last among other packs.
There were about 20 of them in the large, well-furnished meeting room. 7 of them were Alpha emperors and leaders of the Werewolf council. They didn't belong to any pack, nor had one of their own. Their fighting prowess in human form was so great that they could solo three Alphas' attacks at once! They were from the purest of wolf bloodline!
They all sat in the meeting hall, belonging to Jones Gustia, the Alpha of Moon's Favorite pack, and discussed issues at length.
They then proceeded to the death of the 10th ranked strongest Alpha George. All eyes stared at William.
"Well..." he rubbed his palms together and exhaled.
"Let me explain what happened..."
5 minutes later.
All gasped in shock when Williams mentioned the existence of a new Mage ruler who could directly make one useless and lose their Mage powers.
"Did you get to chat with that being face-to-face?" Edward Coles Bartley, one of the Werewolf council leaders, asked.
"Not really. Before I could say any words of gratitude, he'd disappeared. He probably didn't want to be known. But he exists. If it weren't for him, I'd be dead." said William with conviction.
"Tough! But it's good that you are alive. It'd be a shame to lose a talent like you." Edward said. William smiled and thanked him for his good words.
"Still, you gotta be careful. Don't trust such a being fully. Mages are scarce and switch loyalties easily. You must exercise caution in all you do." Alpha Jones said. Deep in his heart, he wished to kill William.
'What did this loser possess that he attracted the attention of a powerful being? Besides, it can't be that this mysterious being will always be with them. Mages are adventurous by nature and like to be in seclusion. I must find a way to finish him off. Or else he might come one day and take away my position. That can't happen!' he thought in determination.

A week later, Williams returned home and found his mate in the private training hall, having a duel with his Beta.
"My love!" he called upon entering.
Mira had long known of his presence even before he stepped into the pack borders. It was hard to pretend not to know anything as a human and focus on her training.
Now seeing him in person, she couldn't suppress her desire any longer and ran to hug him with excitement. She was sweating and panting, but it didn't stop her.
She heard that familiar calm heartbeat of his once again. That refreshing smell of coconut and bananas... Ahh, it was heaven! She really wanted to breathe in his scent as much as she could, but that would make her look weird to the others.
She went on tip-toes and pecked his forehead.
He hugged her back with a smile. "Did you miss me?" he asked, while caressing her hair gently.
"Yup. Very much!" she nodded vigorously, causing him to giggle.
"Don't you miss me? Or is it because I stink?" she pretended to be mad.
"Dear, you smell great every time. And yes, I missed you so much." he then kissed her.
"Please excuse me." the Beta quickly escaped.
How cruel this couple is. They make life harder for him who hasn't found his mate till now. It's much better to get some fresh air outside!
"Babe, I have a surprise for you." Williams said and took out a box from his pocket.
"For me?" she asked, with her eyes glued to the box.
"Who else? It's yours only." he replied.
She opened it and saw an emerald jade bracelet.
"It's not the most expensive. But it's a token of my love. Will you..." he was cut short by her.
She hugged him after wearing the bracelet.
"Even if it's a freshly plucked flower, it's more than enough for me, dear. Thanks for the gift." she said and kissed him.
Bruce Jades, who forgot something in the hall, had decided to risk it and get his belonging back from the private hall and met with this scene.
"I might as well go without it." he said and sped away.
*******
That evening.
The pack's dungeon.
It was dark, so many torches were lit along the passageways. There were many cells, some were empty, others had a few prisoners.
Beta Bruce and Alpha Williams walked to the remotest cell and unlocked the padlock.
The iron gate was opened and both of them entered and saw the prisoner in that very cell. It was the humiliated ex-mage- Leena.
She subconsciously covered her belly when they entered. She was trembling and couldn't stare at them in the eye.
"Spare me, spare me, please. Don't kill me. At least, allow me to bring this innocent child to life first." she cried and shifted to the extreme.
Williams was exhibiting a scary aura just now.
"Alpha, please calm down." Bruce interceded.
Williams listened to him and retracted his menacing aura. He then cleared his throat and strolled towards her.
When he was 8 feet away from her, he squatted.
"Leena, what you did to me and my pack wasn't good. Why did you have such thoughts in the first place? Now look where you've landed- in the dungeon, pregnant, dirty and a shadow of yourself. What is the benefit of being a villainess?" he asked.
"I..." she stopped covering her face when she sense he didn't come to torture her.
She immediately went on her knees and placed her hands on her thighs, head still bowed low.
"You are a woman and I respect women and life. That's why I didn't torture you from the start." he stated.
"Alpha Williams... I'm sorry. I really regret my actions. I was wrong. Because of me, you lost some loyal pack members. I know I deserve to die, but you kept me alive until now. I'm very grateful. You even were kind enough to let me have some food for my child. Thank you..." she said and started weeping.
"Leena, to be honest, I hate you very much, but I believe that in every person, there is a little angelic side. If given a chance, it will shine and defeat the darkness of the heart. I won't kill you even after you give birth to the child. I know it sounds unbelievable, but my mate wishes that you'd be given a second chance. I will release you from here, but you will be a servant to the Omegas. Is that fine by you?" he asked.
"Yes...Yes Alpha! I agree. I'll do anything." she said hurriedly. She was really desperate!
"Fine then! Stay here for two more months helping around in the dungeon so you'll not feel strange to your work as a lowest ranking slave. Bear in mind that you are not part of the pack and will never be. If you try to escape, you will die." he warned. Then he got up and turned to leave.
"Wait... I have something to say." Leena called out suddenly.
"Speak!" Williams didn't turn around.
"I... thank you for showing me undeserved mercy. I will work hard and not fail you. Thanks for this chance to turn a new leaf. I appreciate it." she said, and he scoffed before leaving the cell with his Beta.
When they had left, Leena sighed and rubbed her belly.
"Child, we're going to live. Mama did wrong to put you in this state. But Mama will amend her mistakes, okay? Please forgive me, my child." she whispered. She covered her belly with the thin cloth provided for prisoners to lie on.
It wasn't enough; she still felt cold. Sigh, she was already used to it. She was still alive, she and her baby. That's enough!
It shocked her when a dungeon guard came with a thick blanket and a lamp.
"The Luna sent this to you." the guard said and left.
"Thank you, Luna." Leena muttered and couldn't prevent her tears from falling.
She looked at the beautifully adorned blanket and the lamp.
She spread the thin cloth she used to cover her belly with earlier on the floor and then lay down. Then she covered herself with the new blanket. It smelt so nice and she was feeling warmth for the first time in days.
"Luna, I'm sorry for what I did to your husband. I regret it. And you are still so kind to me." she muttered.
"Of course! It's both a favor and a punishment. Next time, think twice about your actions. My mate is mine alone!" she heard a strange voice speak with a voice transmission spell. As an ex-mage, she was familiar with it.
"Please, who are you?" she whispered.
"I'm the Luna and also a Mage ruler." the voice said.
"What?" Leena gasped.
So that means she was rendered magically trash by the Luna? Didn't she do her homework well? According to what she knew, the Luna was a weak human.
"No one knows that I'm a mage ruler. Not even my dear mate. I can't reveal it to him now for some reasons. But I'll do so when it's the right time." the voice said.
Leena immediately got up to bow.
"Forgive me, Luna. And I swear to take this secret to my grave." she said with a hand on her chest, staring at the roof.
"Behave well. I have granted you a chance. Use it well, Leena." the voice drifted away and Leena nodded in agreement.
Then she lay back down to rest.
**************
One week later.
Pack training field.
Today, many competed to be selected as a pack warrior. Mira was also among the participants. The participants were forbidden to shift to their wolf's form when fighting for the sake of the Luna, but it wouldn't hinder them from displaying their prowess, anyway.
Alpha Williams had declared that no one was to go easy on his Luna or else he'd be forced to eat vegetables for a year after receiving 30 strokes of the cane rubbed with Wolf's bane oil.
So everyone was very serious. Mira's spar partner was a youth who was tall and muscular.
"Luna, I won't be going easy on you. Forgive me!" he said before rushing towards her.
She simply smiled and ran towards him. When they met, they began to showcase all the moves they'd learned. Mira shook her head and simply kicked the youth from the fighting ring.
He landed on the ground below. Luckily, he wasn't hurt.
He got up and removed the dust from his clothes.
"I admit defeat." he said with a deep, loud voice.
He was convinced that Luna had being looked down on for too long. This was her time to shine, and he didn't mind being one of her stairs to fame.
Cheers burst from the crowd when they saw that their human Luna had being well trained to the point she could beat one contestant. Great! Truly great!
Alpha Williams gave her a thumbs up from his allocated seat and then blew her a kiss, causing the young girls to giggle.
Since Mira had defeated her opponent, another person would challenge her until she got defeated. That was the rule until there were three people left!
The person who challenged her next was a skinny girl who was one of the best among the contestants.
She rushed towards Mira and started her attacks.
Mira sighed. The pack's fighting was really low. She needed to seed out some people to train in secret in case of an emergency. When you live in among paranormal people, you never drop your guard!
She pretended to be feeling insecure and tried her 'best' to dodge the girl's attack. The girl got excited at the chance to win the Luna. Hehe, victory wasn't far off.
10 minutes, no matter how the girl tried, Mira just kept dodging.
"Luna Mira, are you ever gonna fight back? Stop dodging and fight!" she complained.
"Haha, dodging is also a skill. It saves life at a critical juncture. Get that into your head, kiddo!" she said as she dodged another of the girl's attack.
"You... just fight me head on." the girl was pissed.
"Haha, I guess fun time has ended for me then." Mira said, and started attacking the girl instead. The girl couldn't last 3 minutes of her attacks and was kicked out of the fighting ring before she could even say 'I admit defeat!'
There were gasps and even louder yelling.
"Luna Mira! Luna Mira! Luna Mira!" they cheered in unison.
"I admit defeat!" the girl sulkily said after her friends helped her up.
Tina Powell, who was among the contestants, scoffed.
"That's because she must have taken some power increasing drugs so she can beat a few pups. What's so great about her?" she said to the hearing of some other insecure contestants.
Mira left the fighting stage and ran towards her husband to hug him. He kissed her in return.
"You did well, my dear. Come sit here and watch." he said as he offered her pineapple juice.
Sherlyn and her husband were among the crowd but didn't approve of this scene.
"Look at her shamelessness." Sherlyn complained and Skyle patted her back.
"My dear, no need to care about her. Focus on the others." he said.
Hearing that the Luna temporarily would not be accepting challenges, two new contestants entered the ring and started fighting.
After 3 minutes, Mira excused herself to visit the ladies' bathroom. Tina, on seeing this, secretly left the contestant box and followed Mira to the bathroom.
"Luna Mira, you must be feeling proud and powerful now, right?" she asked after locking the entrance door.
"Oh, Tina, you are here to relieve yourself too?" Mira asked.
"I'd like to relieve this pack of you, barren tree!" Tina spat.
"You can try!" Mira said indifferently and made for one of the empty bathrooms to take a shower.
