Don’t see dat often.” He handed me the package, his blue eyes bright with excitement. Ignoring the gape on Lafitte’s face, I tossed the box into the trashcan and began carelessly ripping the letter open. “Piss! I knew the de Sotos would be in touch, but I didn’t expect this.” I read out loud. “The de Soto Family requests your company to join our Las Fallas Celebration Saturday, the fifteenth of March, two thousand twenty-one, at eight o’clock in the evening. 1520 El Camino Drive, Witch Haven, Louisiana. Formal wear.” Huh! They thought I could be bought. I snorted to myself.
