The missing luna

Chapter 8

They all left the study room and returned to the ceremony downstairs. Immediately they got back, they took their respective seats while Sophia sat at the high table. Many were wondered why she was there including the elders. A lot of whispering was going around.

"Is she the Luna?" Someone said from the crowd.

"I hope not. I want to be the Luna. You know how much I like Alpha Ronald." Another person said.

most of the guests did not bother to keep their voices low. Ronald was embarrassed by the flirty comments he was hearing from the crowd. Sophia was surprised he had a lot of girl followers, most especially lots of Luna's from their pack.

"Silent everyone. Your questions would be answered one by one. You need to keep quiet if you want them to be answered." A guard replied to all of them.

Alpha Frederick stood from his seat to address his people.

"I can hear most of you and it is a shame that you all did not respect the elders and I sitting here. Anyway, your question would be answered. We have two reasons for calling this impromptu meeting. The first one is that as you all know the Alpha position has been vacant for the past months. I would be handing over my position to my son. But the ceremony of him becoming an Alpha would not be done yet until he finds his Luna." Alpha Frederick said surprising anyone.

Sophia shifted in her seat. A lot of eyes were now on her wondering what she was doing on the table if she was not the luna of the pack. Ronald was also surprised by his father's announcement. He had thought they could do the ceremony before he found his Luna but it seems like it was not possible.

"The second reason why we called you here is mainly obvious. The girl beside Ronald as you all know her, Sophia is my long-lost daughter. She is one of the royal family in this kingdom now including the two people that took care of her during those times. We gladly welcome her to our family. This should clear all of you women to mind that she is not the Luna of this pack but a sister to your new Alpha, Ronald." Alpha Frederick said before taking his seat.

A lot of inaudible whispers started passing through the crowd. Everyone was saying what they deemed fit to say, passing it from one another. A lot of eyes were on Delilah and Eric, some people feeling happy for them while some carried envy and jealousy in their eyes. A guard came out and announced for them all to keep quiet because the new Alpha has an announcement to make.

Ronald has decided that this should be the best time to announce who his beta was. He was just feeling sorry because he had to find a Luna before they could crown the person his beta. He stood up to address the crowd.

"Good evening everyone. Hope you are enjoying the ceremony? I would like to introduce my Beta to you. As you all know I am your new Alpha, I would like to enjoy the guidance of an elder to be my beta. In the person of my sister's foster father, Eric, please come forward to show yourself to them as my Beta.

Eric was surprised where he sat. He had not expected Ronald to pick him as his beta. Though he was not old like alpha Frederick, he maintained an age gap of seven years from Ronald. This news came as a surprise to everyone including the elders. Elder Trevor nodded his head, impressed by Ronald. The boy has always made it an effort to surprise him with good things every time.

" what do you think of my son's decision?" alpha Frederick asked elder blake.

Elder blake thought for a while before replying to him.

"It seems to be by far the best I have seen. Eric is a good man and when it comes to guidance, you know he does it far better than anyone in this pack." Elder blake replied.

Eric's family has been involved in the betas position before giving their children a lot of guidance skills since kids. This has made their family well known for their guidance and knowledge when making a decision.

Eric came out and bowed down to the elders and the former Alpha before bowing down to his Alpha. A thunderous clap echoed in the air before he went back to his seat. After the announcement, everyone talked between themselves before leaving the house to head back to their house.

The elders left after the people and told Ronald they would be back tomorrow for a meeting with him and his sister, Sophia. Ronald retired to his room after Sophia left with Delilah and Eric. The trio said they would come back tomorrow and stay permanently. Aloha Frederick was already tired, he did not bother to take a shower before he collapsed on the bed and slept off. He was so proud of his son because the elders were in support of his decision.

Ronald got to his room and saw the moon goddess seating on his chair sipping tea gently.

"You could have graced the occasion with your appearance, your highness," Ronald said bowing down to the moon goddess.

"I just came to congratulate you. Welcome to being the leader of a pack. I hope you know all that entails?" The moon goddess said.

"Yes your highness," Ronald said and yawned.

"Then I wish you the best. Good night." The moon goddess said before floating away.

Ronald thought of his decision on his beta and wondered if it was the right one. Thank God he did not tell his friend that he would assign him as the Beta, if not he would be a dead mear now. He collapsed on the bed without changing his clothes. He could do this, he told himself before dozing off.
