CHAPTER 3 HEAVEN WHITE

 He holds my both cheeks and checked my face. My cheeks turn into red like really? I am blushing? He touched my forehead to remove the dirt. “Stop, I am okay.” I removed his hands off me. “I am really sorry.” He apologized again. I saw his jersey shirt like he is one of the soccer team players. “My name is Sky.” He offers his hands to give me a handshake.

 At first I don’t want him to be my friends, but, I don’t want to become a rude either. “Hi Sky. I am Heaven.” I gave her a quick handshake. “Wow,

the name is nice. We are just the same. Sky and Heaven.” He laughed. I can help it. This boy is so handsome and funny. “Okay, Sky. You know I will go now to my classroom so…”

 “Oh right, what’s section are you?” He asked. Should I tell him or not? “Um. Yeah, Section 3-A.” Oh God! What did I just say. “Oh. Our room is just next to each other. Section 3-B. I'm just new here at university. I am a soccer player.”

 I was about to speak when his colleague in the field suddenly called him. Even before he left, he gave me a smile and invited me out. I don't have time to talk anymore. But I want to know your answer. Will you come with me later? Not date, but friendship. Maybe it's not bad to make friends with just one. I have never known anyone since I came to this university. No one likes me. Just a friend so it's okay. "Okay later. See you later."

 “Okay. I pick you up after school.” He winked at me and said goodbye. The bell rang. Then I ran head to my classroom. Luckily, the professor hasn’t arrived yet. I’ve been wondering that why the adviser is late then the students are urge to come early. I sat in front and opened my book.

 I am thinking if my decision is correct. Is it alright that I gave my section and agreed to his invitation to come out with him? Someone is knocking at the door. It’s him again. “Hi. I just stop to give you this.” A note, I stood up and get it from his hand. I opened to see what’s written inside. “Meet me after school at the gate.”

 That guy is so sweet. I didn’t notice that I’m smiling, am I crazy? Is this the feeling of being with friends? A couple of minutes my professor arrived and instructed us to get a one whole sheet of papers. “Okay class. I need you to summarize the story that I gave to you yesterday. I just want to check if you read the assignment.” I get the paper and wrote down the summarization.

 While writing the Sir Mark the professor called my name. “Yes, sir?” I answered. “I just want to congratulate you for being one of the active players in volleyball team. You deserved the scholar.” He said and smiled. Actually, Sir Mark is one of the coaches in volleyball team. “Thank you sir, Mark, I will give my very best to win the game.” I replied. I go back to in writing and finish the activity for today.

 It’s lunch time, as usual, I went back to my comfort zone. In the comfort room, I guess no one likes me having their lunch in the cafeteria. I sat on the same cubicle and open my lunch box. I had been thinking that how many times I took lunch in this room. I finished lunch and head back to my room. While walking at the 2nd floor hallway, I saw sky standing in front of our classroom.

 He saw me and smiled. “Hi! Where have you been? I am waiting for you to take our lunch break together.” He said. “Oh really, you didn’t say that you are taking lunch with me.” I answered. Actually, I don’t to be with him, it’s because it will give a huge of issues that he is with a simple nerdy student like me. I don’t want to ruin his popularity even though he is new.

 “Well, there is always tomorrow. Tomorrow can I have a lunch time with you Heaven?” He asked. What should I answer? A while ago, he asked me to go out, now he is asks me to take lunch with him every day. “Hey! No pressure, just for a friend.” He adds. “It’s okay that you take me out, but not having a lunch break here in the school campus. What would the other students say to you?” I answered.

 “Well, I don’t care. Haters are going to hate, it is normal.” He said. “Believe me Sky; you don’t want to be with a nerdy girl like me. I will just give a headache and ruin your popularity.” I said to him. “Say that again, I will force you to have a lunch with me.” He laughed. I just don’t know what to say. I’m shy, this is the first time I am having a conversation with a cute guy.

 “Hello? Are you alive? I am talking here.” I was suddenly dumbfounded. “I’m sorry. Okay, see you later after school.” I answered. “Okay, after school, don’t forget.” The bell rang for the afternoon classes. We both went inside the classroom.

  After class, I asked Sir Mark if there is a rehearsal today. He said no, the practice starts next week. But it’s up to me if I am going to the gym with my team to play volleyball. So I grab my backpack and my books and went to the gate. I waited there for 5minutes. Then I saw Sky is running towards me. “Sorry I’m late.” He said.

 “So where are we going?” I asked him. “We are going to the park.” He said. There so many places in here yet he wants to go to the park with me? Where there is so much exposure of me and this guy. I saw Liza’s friends walking in our direction and stop in front of Sky. “Hi handsome, what’s your name.” They asked.

 “Hello ladies. I’m Sky.” He gave them a smile, when the girls notice me. “What are you doing with this girl?” They asked Sky again. “Oh. She’s my friend. Look ladies as much as I love to have a conversation with you but, we are in a hurry right now. Can you please excuse us?” He said. “Um… Right, you two enjoy together.” They said.

 The girls rolled their eyes and go. “Do you know them?” Sky asked me. “Yeah, there are friends of the queen campus.” I answered. “Queen’s Campus, Who is she?” I was not surprised when he heard this. I know she will be really interested in who the queen’s campus is “Liza Smith. She is the queen campus, a leader of the cheering squad, beautiful, smart, and rich, she already has almost everything.” I answered

 “Cool. I think I saw her a while ago having snacks with her friends.” He adds. We arrived at the park and sit on the bench. Okay, let’s get to know each other. “Hi, I’m Sky Miller, I’m new here, a soccer player, third year college, I love playing ball games, now your turn.”  Quite awkward to talk to the guy you just met.

 I mean you only saw it twice and this is the third day. But I do not want to be rude. It’s because I agreed to go with him. So I need to talk to him too.  I have to lie to him, because I know he will not be my friend if I tell the truth that I am poor, I am from the orphanage, and my parents are dead.

 Hello again. By the way, I am Heaven White, I am a volleyball player and I am a scholar because of the sport here at university, third year college. I haven't had a friend since I stepped on it. You are the first.  We're just the same, I'm just new here and I don't have any friends yet you are the only woman I know apart from my soccer teammates.

 In the middle of our conversation I saw Liza's car. She got out of here and walked towards us. "She's what I call queen campus." I said to him.  Sky looked at her and he stood up as Liza approached us. "Hi Heaven, you never told me you were with this handsome man." the tone of her voice was so soft that you thought we were both friends.

 Sky looked at me and said "You didn't tell me you were friends." Not really. The two of us were given an invitation card for the party at their house on Saturday. She said she was in a hurry so she left immediately. This woman invited me for the first time. “I will go if you go.” Sky told me. I don't want to ruin his moment, so go ahead. For a friend I will come. Maybe Liza is really showing a change. Maybe she also wants to be friends with me.
