World shattering news
Lily rushed shakily into the funeral home, looking into the rooms, finally she arrived at room one and her eyes caught the picture displayed up.
Her shoulders fell as she walked slowly into the large room, her eyes blurred for a second as her tears fell heavily.
She got closer, her hand slowly covered her lips to silenced her cry, falling to the floor in heaviness of heart.
One of the men standing nearby walked up to her. “You’re his family, you need to go dress up to receive visitors of your father” he said.
Lily stared up at him, she did not recognize any one of them in the room. But they were all staring at her, true, she was Morris Holloway’s daughter but does she have the right to be the chief mourner?
Lily wondered as she got up slowly. She arrived at the locker and let out the sound she had kept a moment ago, pouring out all her pain.
She had received the phone call that her mother was involved in a ghastly accident, along with her stepfather, Morris Holloway, they were supposed to register their marriage in two days.
After struggling to hide her tears, Lily got out of the locker room, back to the waiting guests, dressed in all black.
For about twenty minutes, she received the people who had come to pay their last greetings to the dead, her eyes was dry now and her lips pale.
Just then, a noise came from outside and Jennifer Holloway walked in with an angry tantrum.
She approached Lily quickly and send a resounding slap across her face. The loud noise shook everyone who was present and for a second, the room went deafening silent.
“How dare you show up here?” she lashed out after. “Daughter of a b***h! You and your mother have successfully killed him!” she threw accusingly, her anger brewing.
Lily grabbed her cheeks, the slap burnt through her brain cells, causing her to feel dizzy.
She swallowed down slowly, trying to find her voice. “I’m sorry” she let out, sounding more pathetic.
“Sorry?” Jennifer scoffed with great disdain. “You will be” she spatted and slammed against her, showing her aside.
Lily fell to the floor, she tried to hold her tears, biting her lips hard and it reddens up. She noticed the foot that suddenly stood in front of her and lifted her head slowly.
Him. Sean Holloway. He is Morris Holloway’s only child, the heir to the empire that was left behind.
His eyes was filled with hate as he looked down at her, his gaze smoldering that it made Lily ’s heart hammered against her chest.
He walked past her, following behind his mother to pay his last respects to his father.
Lily swallowed a lump and managed to lift her body up. She took a last look at Morris’s picture before walking out.
…
Sean stood in front of the memorial altar, his hands tucked into his pockets, his eyes void of any expression.
His last memory with Morris invade his head…
“If you walk out that door, you’re no longer my son” Morris had lashed at him.
There was broken vase on the floor between the table, which he had angrily thrown down.
Sean held tightly to the door knob. “I’m not a kid anymore. You cannot threaten me with that s**t again” he blurted.
“If you disown me, then you will have no child at your deathbed” he added in his fury.
Morris got up, visibly shaking in anger, he stepped forward, his finger pointed in his fury.
“You bastard! Wishing me dead, in your dreams.” he bellowed. “Get out of my office!” he had yelled and without hesitation, Sean had slammed the door behind him.
Back to the present, he was pulled back when Jennifer called his name, stretching a flower for him to put down.
He took it and place it down. Without wasting to bow, he turned around to walk out of the place, ignoring Jennifer who tried to call him back.
Sean walked out of the hospital mortuary, feeling suffocated. He took out a vape pen and smoke. A car pulled up in front of him and Ray, his best friend came down.
“Hey” he called, his voice low and hesitant.
Sean ignored it, now wanting sympathy and got into the car instead. Ray followed suit.
“What would happened to the girl?” Ray asked slowly.
Sean whose face was thrown to the other side completely ignored him and took another long inhale of the vape pen.
Ray swallowed, a little worried that he might upset him. He ignited the car and was about to move when suddenly someone jumped in front of the car.
He brought it to an abrupt stop, jerking a little forward. Sean also jerked up and wore a little frown. he followed Ray’s gaze and saw Lily standing in front of the car.
She quickly bow her head to apologize and rushed out of there, taking a cab.
Sean’s gaze followed after her, expressionless but his grip tightened a bit on the vape pen in his hands.
“Take me out of here” he demanded in a rough voice.
Ray nodded quickly and drove out of there immediately.
…
Lily who had gotten a phone call from the hospital rushed over to her mother’s ward and find quite a number of doctors, trying to stabilize her Mum.
Panic gripped her heart quickly and she gasp in fright, moving slowly closer to the bed. She watched for a long while, her tears flowing slowly down her cheeks.
After along struggle, her mother was saved. The doctor in charge came to her, with other behind him..
“Miss. Fisher, do you have a guardian I can speak to about your mother’s condition?” the doctor asked.
Lily shook her head, her body trembled at the awaiting bad news. “It’s just me” she affirmed.
The doctor took a heavy breathe. “Your mother suffered a traumatic injury to the brain”
Her heart seemed to stop for that second. Her body all froze up. But the doctor continued the dread news.
“The brain is swelling and we need to perform an emergency surgery. She’s barely hanging on, a deposit need to be made before we can proceed”
Lily swallowed hard. “How much?” she stuttered.
“One hundred thousand dollars”
That instant, all of her muscles became too weak to stand and she stumbled but was held up by one of the doctors.
“Are you alright?” he asked.
Lily struggled for a second to stand up straight. Her brain disrupted about the thoughts of getting such huge amount of money.
Her tuition fees that she had saved was not enough to cover it. Maybe her mother had kept some money away.
“What time do I have to get the money?” she asked.
“Tomorrow morning. She won’t last five hours without the surgery” the doctor in charge informed.
Lily nodded her head slowly. “I will get the money” she said.
