Margot had just checked everything in the mansion to make sure it was all in it proper place and was about to retire for the day.
She thought to check on Jace and the idea of bringing him a snack sounded appealing so she baked cinnamon cookies, one of his favorites.
After cooking for an hour, making it perfect, she carried a little tray and headed to Jace’s room.
There was a happy grin on her face but it died the instant she saw him standing a short distance away, close to Katrina . Her hands trembled and she dropped the tray with a loud bang.
The noise startled Katrina who jumped up, her eyes popped open immediately, and try to push Jace off but he grabbed her back.
“Don’t move” he said to her.
Katrina nodded obediently, her lips pressed tight together.
Margot paused, her breath hitched as she stared at them. “I’m sorry” she stammered and turned around, looking distorted as she walked away.
She ran into Yasmin and brushed into her. Margot did not stop despite Yasmin’s angry outburst, rushing down the stairs instead.
Yasmin groaned in anger and hissed before walking upstairs. She caught Katrina hurrying into her room with Jace standing there.
A tiny frown crept on her forehead, she started to walk to him, hoping she could seize the moment to get close.
As she got closer, she slowly put on a smile, reaching out her hand for him but he turned away and walked into his room, slamming the door at her face.
…
Jace walked into the office without bothering to knock, Jennifer who was on a phone call with Adam quickly ended the call, a bit startle to see him. She flashed a smile and turned to him.
“My darling son” she brimmed, walking to him with her arms spread.
Jace’s hands were positioned in his pocket, his jaw clenched. He took a short breathe before he spoke.
“The news about Katrina Fisher, you need to stop it” he said, firmly.
Jennifer’s smile disappeared. “Why do you care?” she asked, curious. “She’s the daughter of the woman who ruined our life” she added, her tone laced with spite.
“I think we both know that’s not true.” Jace cut her off. “You just want the mansion, leave her alone. She’s not involved in this” he defended.
Jennifer’s face straightened up, revealing her desire. “Of course I want the mansion. It should have been mine” she fired, her eyes filled with spite.
“If it wasn’t for that woman, your father wouldn’t have the gut to divorce me” she affirmed.
A hard breath escaped Jace’s nostril as his hands clenched a bit inside his pocket. “You and Dad have been separated long before that woman even came into the picture, remember? When you abandoned me” he said, his voice although tried to hid his hurt, his countenance didn’t.
Hearing that, Jennifer’s face sunk back in guilty but not for long. She moved closer to him and gently stroke his hair by the side.
“It wasn’t my intention, son. Your father made me” she said, her brows squeezed in a sad countenance.
Jace stared at her, wanting to believe her words. His hands clenched tight inside his pockets as his jaw clenched even tighter, his expression hardened.
“Of course” he forced out.
Jennifer also forced a smile with a nod.
“But the girl, I want you to leave her out.” Jace insisted
At this, Jennifer’s face sunken into ire, She thought him stopping her at the funeral party was for her sake but it seemed she was wrong.
“Don’t tell me she has somehow managed to seduce you? It’s just been days living with her” she cried.
“What?”
Jennifer turned her back to him, looking upset and drifting up a new plan quickly. She can’t let the girl hypnotize her son like her mother did to Morris.
“I really need to get rid of this girl” she muttered to herself.
“You would not do such a thing” Jace snapped, moving close to her. Jennifer turned to him again, gripping his shoulders and looked into his eyes.
“Son, I am trying to protect you” she fought but he pulled her grip down.
“I am well capable of protecting myself, Mum. Unless you wanna lose the Holloway empire you would leave her alone” he warned, sternly.
Jennifer scoffed, looking more furious that he would threaten her with the empire. “What has that girl done to you?” she asked, shaking her head and looking a bit stunned.
When Jace saw that, he held back a bit knowing what kind of person his Mother was. He sighed and decided to try something else.
“I meant I would lose the company to her if she’s hurt. Remember the condition of the will?” he asked.
Jennifer paused for a moment, she slowly realized and a relief washed through her face. “Of course, that’s the only reason why you would protect her’ she said and smiled.
Jace also forced a smile too. Without waiting to spend a second more there, he walked out the door. But he didn’t leave immediately, he rested his back slowly on the wall.
With a frustrated grunt, Jennifer picked her phone to call Adam again. “I think we need to stop the plan to execute the girl” she said over the phone, pacing.
“We need another way to get the Holloway’s empire, let’s meet tonight” she added and ended the call after.
Jace who was outside heard the conversation, a grieve countenance on his face as he tilt his head against the wall.
…
When Jace came back to the mansion, his countenance was still sour. He stride slowly towards the stairs only to be stopped by Yasmin.
She was dressed in a familiar purple dress, her hair packed in a way that resembled Katrina ’s.
Jace’s countenance shifted into a big frown as he tilted his head back a bit, wondering what was going on.
“Hi, Jace” she said with a sly smile. “Guess you’ve forgotten me?” she asked, moving closer.
He didn’t move away but keep his eyes on her, wondering what petty games she was up to now.
“That night at Club by the lake, where we shared our first kiss?” she stated and Jace’s face twisted in irritation.
‘What the hell game was she playing?’ he wondered. He was very sure that Katrina was the one he kissed that night.
Yasmin kept her smile as she watched his expression to see if he also remembers and it seemed she has pricked his memory.
Believing that he also did not recognize Katrina from that night, she decided to try this tactic, perhaps it would work.
Jace at first remained silent with a cold, irritable expression but then he moved slowly. “I remember that night…” he said, like he had just recollected.
Yasmin smiled broader at this. “And do you remember me now? You promised we’ll meet again” she stated.
A little chuckle escaped his lips as he nodded, pretending and enjoying her act. “Did I? Maybe I did” he replied.
“Yeah, you did” she grinned wildly. Without wasting time, she leaned forward and put her hands around his shoulders.
Before he could stop her, Yasmin kissed him
