MIRA
I opened my eyes to find I was lying in my own bed in my room, which was confusing. Then I remembered. There was an attack, and I was wounded. What else had happened?
“Astrina!” I tried to sit up, but a pain in my stomach stopped me short.
“She’s fine.”
I looked for the source of the voice to see Rispan sitting in a chair near my bed. He was back. I recalled more of the scene with the assassin. Rispan had been there.
“Rispan! Where have you been?”
He just grinned at me. “Miss me?”
“You jerk!”
“The one and only.” His grin just seemed to widen.
“You can be so annoying sometimes.”
He shrugged. “But that’s why you love me.”
