CHAPTER 5
Alex and Mariam waited impatiently at the airport the next day. Sal and Micky were with them. Micky was their driver and Sal was their security guard. They were waiting at the gate where disembarking passengers would enter, after leaving the plane.
Mariam squeezed Alex’s hand and gazed toward the door. Alex put his arm around her and smiled indulgently. “They will be here soon,” he promised.
Mariam smiled up at him before gazing back at the door. “I know. I am very glad to know they are on their way,” she agreed.
The door opened and Mark and Darrin were the first ones to emerge. Mariam dropped Alex’s hand and ran to greet Darrin. Darrin dropped his duffle bag and opened his arms to receive her hug.
Alex was right beside her, giving Mark a hug. When Mariam turned Darrin loose
