Ted said, “Yeah, Haley is lethal with a sword too. I’ve watched her, and Damn… she can be scary. She’s like this cute little kitten then she flips a switch. She’s a tiny little thing, but don’t cross her man. Anyway, now a past mark who lives in freaking London shows up out of the blue? Someone’s after my girl. Matt… I really want to...spend the night with you, but I need to make sure she is safe. She’s lethal herself, but I worry.” I said, “Do you fight like Lexi does?” Ted flushed, “No... but I can shoot a gun.” I said, “I have two men on the front of the hotel. They will make sure she is safe. Go spend time with Matt.” Ted smiled, “Really? You’re good friends with the Alpha, Matt? That’s hot. No one’s ever ripped a man to shreds for me before. Lex has killed people to protect me in the past, and she totally would’ve had that guy. But no one has ever ripped anyone apart to protect me.” Matt said, “I’ll always protect you, Ted. You’re mine, and can I just say. You look damn hot as stitch.” Ted looked down, “I told Lex to get me something fabulous from her Disney World trip. She doesn’t disappoint.” Matt leaned down and whispered in his ear, “It will look even better on the floor.” Ted shivered, “Race you to my place. Hope you can keep up wolfie of mine.” Matt said, “I’m a werewolf. I can keep up.” Ted smirked, “And I’m really fast.” He took off running. Matt shifted a second later and followed him at a dead run. “He is really f*****g fast.” Cameron said. I nodded, “Yes, he is. Lexi is faster though.”
Cameron said, “What the f**k are they? Are mutants real? Like the x-men mutants? Can we even discount that? We are freaking werewolves. Why couldn’t there be x-men?” I laughed, “Who knows?” Cameron said, “How long have you known about Matt?” I said, “Not long. I found him the other day upset because he felt his mate was nearby. He thought it was a girl, and he didn’t want to find her. He thought I’d strip him of his title.” Cameron snorted, “Some would expect it of you. I’d imagine you have plans for that.” I said, “Even if the goddess hadn’t given him a male mate, I’d have kicked their sorry asses out. I have no room for bigotry in my pack. Matt is an excellent Beta, and he and Ted can still have children. They have options. Besides, now… if anyone wants to say s**t against the goddess, I’d imagine she’d strike them down herself.” Cameron laughed, “That’s true. Reagan knows something is up.” Kevin linked me, “The Luna shook us again, but we think we are nailing down where she truly stays.” I growled, “FOR f***s SAKE!” Cameron said, “What?” I turned to him incredulously, “WHAT? Someone in their own group is after my mate. Siccing old flames on her, who I had to let my Beta kill because he was going to go on a killing spree if I didn’t, and she’s getting her alias leaked on a mission. Someone is after her. I can’t even f*****g meet her or be with her to help protect her. Oh AND her partner and apparent good friend is my Beta’s mate. My men can’t stay on her as shadows if she doesn’t want them. She’s VERY good as losing my BEST f*****g people.” Cameron said, “I know where she will be tomorrow night. I frowned, “Your party is Sunday.” Cameron said, “Yes, and Reagan hit it off with Lexi. They are going to dinner tomorrow night. At your restaurant.” I smiled, “That helps. That’s Good.” Cameron groaned, “Lexi called Reagan. She knows one of us helped them. She’s linking me asking again what’s going on.” I said, “I have a patrol that runs this border frequently.” Cameron laughed, “So do we. I’ll just have to tell her it was you not me that saved Lexi.” I smiled, “I wish you well brother.”
We parted ways. I fell into my bed. I dreamed of the fight, but this time Lexi fought with us. Bolt and I were in awe of her. She was good. Bolt got to play with her in our dream. She rode on our back, and right when we were about to shift so she could see me. My alarm went off. I cursed its timing. Bolt snickered, “It wasn’t real.” I sighed, “Apparently, I only get to spend time with her in our dreams. I didn’t even to get to see here there as my human self.” Bolt said, “I’m sorry Chase.” I said, “Nothing for you to be sorry about.” Derrick was pacing in my office when I went downstairs. “Derrick?” Derrick whirled, “I can’t find Matt. He’s not in his room in the pack house. He’s not answering my links.” I put my hands up, “Matt is fine. I know where he is.” Derrick sighed, “Couldn’t you two give a Gamma a hint? I’ve been pacing for an hour and half thinking about whether or not to come get you.” I smiled, “Go ahead and takes Matt’s training class this morning.” Derrick nodded, “As long as he’s fine.” I said, “Matt is more than fine.” Derrick sighed in relief, “Good.” He left to go train. My office line rang, and I answered, “This is Alpha Chase.” Cameron said, “I know the sound of my brother’s voice. You don’t have tell me who I’m talking to.” I laughed, “I didn’t know it was you.” Cameron said, “There’s this wonderful invention called Caller I.D. check it before you pick up your phone big brother. The world is full of wonders.” I laughed, “Can I help you Cameron?”
Cameron laughed, “Seems your Lexi thinks I saved her last night. I have flowers and a card thanking me for my help. I like this girl. I’ve never gotten flowers or a card for saving someone. You come to mind. I’ve saved you a few times, no card, no flowers, you need to meet this girl. She’ll be good for you. She even had it rush delivered.” I growled, “My pack saved her. Not yours.” Matt came skipping into my office. I raised an eyebrow, “My beta is skipping. I’m going to have to call you back.” Cameron barked out a laugh before I hung up. I said, “So… have a good night did you Matt?” Matt smirked, “I mated and marked my mate. I’m having a great day.” I said, “Is he going to mark you?” Matt smiled, “Yes, he had a bit of panic attack sort of freak out when I told him I was your Beta.” I frowned, “Why?” Matt said, “Apparently whatever he is, they know about packs. He panicked thinking my pack would make me step down. I told him about our talk which calmed him down. He wants to mark me after we talk about how to introduce him to the pack. As their Beta Male. I’m not sure what his title would because it’s usually Beta Female.” I shrugged, “Beta Male works for me. What do you guys want to do?” Matt said, “I want him by my side. I don’t even care that he will have to bite super hard because he has human teeth. I want to bare his mark. I want him here where I can protect him. He doesn’t want to endanger my position and wants us to have a solid plan of how to tell the pack I’m gay. He doesn’t want me to get hurt.”
I smiled, “While that’s cute… he does know you’re a Beta male with the backing of your Alpha. Matt smiled, “He’s a worrier, my Ted.” I said, “So you get to meet my mate before I do. Let’s just get the list of people that get to meet her before me a little longer. Hell let’s throw in Derrick, just for fun.” Matt smirked, “Tim’s keeping me a secret.” I said, “So many thoughts…. One, the man we met last night, the one who blurted out all those details about my mate, after saying he couldn’t give many details…. is going to keep a secret? That Ted?” Matt smiled broadly, “His nickname is TeleTed.” I said, “Proving my point.” Matt laughed, “What’s number two?” I said, “Two, WHY is he keeping you secret? He’s not in the closet. There’s no way he is. Even my gay dar went off the first time I saw him with Lexi.” Bolt snorted, “My gay dar.” I rolled my eyes, “You are technically me, Bolt.” Matt smiled, “He’s protecting me.” I gaped, “YOU? Protecting you? From whom?” Matt said, “I know. He’s so f*****g cute. He’s worried about whatever leak they have going on in their... he called it an organization. He’s adorable, and I love him. He said everyone knows he’s friends with Lex. He doesn’t want anyone to try to hurt me because of who I am to him.” I said, “Great. Now I’m worried about him. He’s not a fighter.” Matt laughed, “No he’s not. He says he’s more of a lover.” His phone beeped. He took it out and laughed before typing a response. I said, “TeleTed… I assume.” Matt smirked, “Your mate is making him take self-defense classes every week with their other co-worker.” I smiled, “My mate is tactical as well as beautiful. So he’s really not going to tell Lexi?”
Matt sighed, “My poor guy is in knots about it. He wants to tell her about us, but he’s worried about my safety. I think he will break down and tell her as long as she promises not to tell. Which I think she will. They are apparently best friends.” I smiled, “I’m happy for you Matt. As soon as you guys are ready, we can introduce him to the pack.” Matt sighed, “I need to give my family a head’s up that I’m gay first.” I laughed, “It would be a little funny.” Matt smiled, “Have you met my mom?” I smiled, “Yes, and it would still be funny…. For me.” Matt laughed, “You jerk.” I smiled, “Let me know when you are ready.” Matt smiled, “We will see how it goes over with my family. They could need a few days to… wrap their minds around things before we tell the pack.” I said, “You’re worried about your dad.” Matt said, “I am.” I frowned, “I think he will surprise you.” Matt sighed, “I’ll eventually work up the courage to call a family meeting.” I smiled and we got to work. Susie came running into my office with tears in her eyes. I linked Matt, “Out.” I got up and got on my knees kneeling with my arms open. She ran into my arms crying as Matt closed the door quietly. “Susie… what’s wrong?” Susie cried, “Mommy surprised daddy with a date. He called Reagan to see if she could come babysit me, but she’s busy. Daddy got mad. Reagan has a new friend, and now daddy’s saying they can’t go. Mommy is so upset, and it’s all my fault.” I rubbed her back, “I’ll fix it Susie.” Susie said, “I know you have something tonight. Daddy said your calendar is blocked off, and so is Matt’s. So you guys can’t watch me either.” I rolled my eyes. My calendar was blocked off because I was, I was going to be guarding Lexi from a distance. I was going to see if I could find her house. Matt was probably spending time with Ted. Derrick would be in charge.
I said, “Let’s call Reagan.” Susie wiped her eyes, “Ok.” I dialed Reagan, “Chase… I’m so sorry. I can’t cancel on Lexi. This is way too last minute.” I said, “Where are you going?” She laughed, “You know where we are going.” I nodded, “I’ll close it down, and send five warriors with you. Just come over here, and then you can ride with Susie taking her with you.” Reagan said, “On a Friday night? You’re going to shut down.” I said, “Perks of being the owner.” Reagan said, “Alright. Cameron and I will run to your house. Don’t think I don’t know something is up with you two.” She hung up. Susie looked up, “What does she mean?” I smiled, “We brought Cameron into project Cookie.” Susie squealed, “REALLY?” I nodded, “Can you keep a secret?” Susie’s eyes got wide, “I can promise! I haven’t told anyone about project cookie.” I smiled, “You’re having dinner with my princess.” Susie jumped off my laugh, “REALLY?!” I nodded, “I haven’t met her yet, so you get to meet her first. You can’t tell her or Reagan she’s my princess.” Susie said, “I won’t! I promise! I’m so excited!” I smiled as Nadine and my dad walked into the office. Nadine said, “Normally, the whole house can hear you when you’re this excited Susie.” Susie turned to me wide eyed in terror. I smirked, “A fairy charmed my office this morning, and didn’t uncharm it. No one can hear us outside my office. Which is good. Reagan and Cameron are running here. I shut the restaurant down dad. Reagan can take Susie with five warriors to the restaurant.” Nadine smiled and Dad said, “Ten warriors.” I said, “Five are in the car. The restaurant will be guarded as well. I’ll be there dad.” My dad relaxed and Nadine raised an eyebrow, “You’re going? To dinner?” I said, “Not to dinner, no. I’ll be guarding the perimeter. I’m sure Cameron will come too.” My dad said, “What do you say then, my dear?” Nadine snorted, “Say? Watch my behind on the way out because I’m getting ready before you change your mind. Chase, you’re amazing.”
Reagan and Cameron arrived. They argued about Cameron going to guard them. I linked him, “Just come with me when Reagan leaves with Susie.” Cameron nodded. When the girls left, we shifted and took off. Kincade informed me that Lexi was still at the hotel. I stayed back pretty far from the hotel just I had a clear view though. She’d been able to smell when I was closer. Kevin linked, “Ummm… the Luna is leaving the lobby.” I said, “Thank you Kevin. Cameron and I have her for the night. Go home. Get some R&R.” Kevin said, “Ummm… Alpha she’s … she looks nice.” I said, “She always looks nice.” Cameron whistled in our link, “DAMN. Look at your mate.” I turned. All my breath left my body. She was wearing a tight red dress that showed off all her curves. Matt linked me, “According to my mate, yours looks and I quote’ hot as fuck.’” I said, “Where the hell are you?” Matt said, “I’m getting my car to go pick up Ted. He’s working for a little bit longer tonight, so he told me what time to come get him. Where are you?” I said, “Holding myself back from claiming Lexi on the hood of her damn car.” Matt howled with laughter, “So my mate was right?” I replied, “Yes.” Cameron linked me, “She smells you.” I told him, “If she comes in this direction, you’d better get lost. I can’t stop myself. Not tonight. Not when she looks like that. I can stay right here, but if she comes over here…. It’s over.” Cameron said, “Such an impressive willpower big brother. Whether she comes over or not. I can’t believe you’re managing this.” Neither could I. It was only because I didn’t want to hurt her with the Sophia situation. That was my tether to staying away. Lexi turned towards us, and my pulse quickened. She took a step in my direction. Then her phone beeped. I seethed inwardly, cursing whoever distracted her. We followed Lexi as she got into her car. It was easy since we knew where she was going.
