We entered alpha Blacks office after we knocked. He invited us in.
“ John great to see you, Maddison welcome in Packwood”
My dad bowed to the alpha I didn’t know what was expected from me so I also bowed to the man.
“Maddison you can start at union high as soon as possible we don’t want you to miss your last year of high school my daughter and son attend the same high school if you need something please don’t hesitate to reach out”
I was just shaking and nodding my head, this man had a strong aura around him. It makes you want the du submit to him.
„ you create a quite turmoil in Seattle “
“Sry sir that wasn’t my intention”
“ you have to know our existence has to be kept from the humans they don’t understand us they are afraid of everything that is above them. We lived centuries in peace and we don’t want to change that right?”
“Yes sir.”
“ good that you understand, now you guys can leave”
We exit the office of the alpha and make our way to the car.
I was still in shock while my dad drove to his bungalow. While we pass the edge of the forest a silver light followed us. I couldn’t see what it was but I lost it in the woods. When we reach his home his new wife was already waiting outside. She fidgets with her hands she seems quite nervous. We never get to know each other. For years she was the reason my family fell apart but with me moving here I think I have to keep up with her.
“ hi Maddison you are here, are you guys tired or are you hungry? I prepared some sandwiches before dinner”
“Hmm I am okay”
Then there was an awkward silence. My dad took the opportunity and started
“Maddison I have to introduce you to someone please let’s go in”
Linder followed behind us as we entered the kitchen. A boy was sitting at the table eating his sandwich.
“ Maddy that’s Jonathan, your brother he is 10 now”
The boy shifted his view from his sandwich to the three people standing at the door.
“Hi,” he says munching his snack
“Maddy take a seat Linder and I will get you things and later we show you around”
They left to get the stuff from the car
I sit in front of the boy and took a sandwich. We were sitting there looking at each other.
“ do you know I exist ? “ he asked me with a curious look.
“ No, but I have to say that I didn’t talk to John for almost 12 years”
“ hmm.. why?”
My brain was working on a good answer to this question. How could I tell this little boy his mom was the reason?
“ well my parents divorced and I decided to take my mother's side”
“Oh okay but dad told me a lot about you, he also showed me videos of your matches, you have a great punch”
I started to warm up to this little boy
“ thank you, but I gave up on taekwondo”
“ why? “
“ I had an accident with a opponent, where she got hurt very badly”
“ Did she die?”
“Oh nooo, I broke her jaw”
“ Isn't that normal to get hurt when you train?”
“ yeah but like bruises are okay but breaking bones are a little extreme “
“ the warriors broke their bones all the time but they still train”
“ Okay what boot camp do we have here”
“ We start training when we turn 10 I also just started. Will you train with us?”
“I don’t know what the people here expect me to do, I think I will star at union high first when are the training seasons?
“ We start at 5 and finish at about 7”
“ whooo that’s hard what do you guys do?”
“ first of all running 5 miles for endurance, then defense and later we have some combat”
“ why are you guys training so hard?”
“ We have to protect our pack our people our land”
I had to let it sink in a bit. The people here seem like a close group where everyone is determined to protect each other. If I look at the countries in the world. Every government is selling the war in the name of protection of their country but what we don’t see is the greed of the nations. If they had the same mind as these people there wouldn’t be so much pain, deaths, and chaos on the world.
“ Are there often situations where the pack has to fight?”
“ Most of the packs tried to keep the peace to each other but sometimes wolves go rogue or some packs tried to conquer other packs that are when war breaks out” so it’s the same there are also black sheep in the werewolf world. I touched his head and gave him a smile this little boy knows a lot, now I regret a little bit not getting to know him earlier. We will catch up on the time we missed.
Mason returns from his border control. He got some information about rouge on the southern border but when he got there they already vanished. When he run back he saw John's car and a strange smell came from his direction he followed them a little. It smelled like a fresh autumn morning after rain with a hint of vanilla, but it was faint. He saw two people in the car one was John and the other seems like a female and then his head started to hurt. That’s when he turned around and left for the packhouse his mood was bad really bad when he meet Cole and Ty at the front door. Ty was holding some Ice on his nose.
“What happened?”
“John's daughter broke Ty’s nose,” Cole said with a grin
“John's daughter? When did he have a daughter doesn’t he only have a son?”
“ she moved from Seattle where she lived with her mother till now”
“ Then she was a rouge until now?”
“ hmm no”
Mason looked confused.
“ I think your father could tell you everything “
These two guys tried to sneak away leaving him with a more headache than he already had.
“ stop right there, try to explain she was living in Seattle till now why did she move here then? In which pack was she before?”
Ty looked at his feet and Cole tried to avoid his eyes.
“Don’t let me repeat everything in my alpha tone”
Ty hold his hands up and moved a step back
“Don’t flip okay hmmm she is half-human”
Mason's face started to change color. Cole and Ty started to run they don’t want to be the target of Mason's rage. Before Mason could open his mouth these guys disappeared. He runs upstairs to his father's office entering without an invitation and slams the door against the wall.
“ Why did you let a human move into our pack?”
“ hi my son nice to see you, I would appreciate it if you knock beforehand”
“ answer my question! Why did you accept a human into our pack?”
“ Mason I am still the alpha pay attention to your tone “
“ you are endangering our pack with this decision”
“ don’t question my decisions son! I am still the alpha and I wouldn’t make decisions that harm my pack. John is a loyal pack member he fights more fight with me than you can imagine! You will treat her as a pack member do you get that”
Mason was fuming
“Mason, Maddison also has wolf's blood in her, we can’t leave her in Seattle, she will turn without some guidance she wouldn’t survive. “
“ How can you be sure she would keep our secret?”
“ 12 years ago when her mother left with her she also gave me her word not to talk about the life here and she kept it”
“ But dad!”
“Enough! Mason don’t let me repeat myself, you can leave now “
Mason storms out of the office. He needs to get off some steam. He opens the mind link to Ty and Cole.
“ Training ground now!”
Both of them shrunk together will not be a pleasure.
