NIGHTMARE
Jesse exited his car in the garage and waited for Gabriella as she walked towards the side door with a travel bag slung over her shoulder. He unlocked it and entered with her following behind. He wondered why he’d asked her to stay with him. Was it a good idea, given the way she looked right now? Tense, distant, and hands quivering, she put down her bag as her eyes roamed the house with awe.
He had asked her here because nobody had the right to invade anyone’s home and she needed to be safe. He couldn’t protect Erica but he could protect Gabriella. He would’ve done the same for Joy if she was in danger. It was in his nature to do what was right and serve justice. That was all this was.
