Chapter 3: The Ball

1457 Words
Weeks had gone by in the blink of an eye. My dance lessons were going on seamlessly and my room was filled with things that Mrs Zolansky insisted that I needed. Mr Zolansky and Joshua were hardly at home for the past few weeks, Stacy and Mrs Zolansky were too busy planning for the ball and the twins had school so they weren't home most of the day. That meant that me and Sarah had the whole house to ourselves! it turned that her and I actually had a lot of things in common. We both mainly liked working out in the home gym and she even surprisingly taught me some fighting and self-defense moves.... "These skills will definitely be useful in the future, trust me" she said I shrugged and agreed, not willing to press on the matter further. More days went by and it was finally the day if the ball! For some reason, I have been anticipating this day and dreading it at the same time. It would start at 8pm so we still had a lot of time to prepare since it was still 11am. "Why are we going to the spar again? this is like the four time this month!" I asked. Going to the spar served no purpose to me mainly because I never even dreamed of entering the building "Everyone is so tense because of the ball, this will relax our nerves.... well, at least the full body massage will." she said with a mischievous look in her eyes "I am not going to be massaged by a man and neither are you!" I said strictly "what? not even Pedro, he's soo hot!" she said "especially not Pedro!" "Okay, okay, okay. geez. Talk about being a drama queen" she pouted. I just rolled my eyes We then had a two hour session and she was right, even though I hate to admit it, it really did relax me a lot. we later grabbed some coffee and drove home in papa's (Mr Zolansky) black Ferrari. "Five hours left, the makeup artist is in Sarah's room and so are your gowns. go get ready!" mama ordered it took an hour for each of us to get our make up done. we put on our ball gowns, mine was a light blue princess gown with a glittery flower pattern from the waist down. Sarah's was a red gown almost identical to mine except for the fact that her's had long fluffy sleeves while mine was an off shoulder The men, including Jacob, were wearing dark blue suits and black masks that covered their whole faces and to top it of this had kingly crowns on their heads. Mom wore a blood orange evening gown with lacey sleeves, a tiara that was decorated with orange crystals and a mask with a few feathers that covered only her eyes and forehead. "Are you girls ready?" asked my loving mother "Yes we are, mom," I've really gotten used to calling her mom, "but where is aunt Stacy?" I asked "I'm right here, my darling!" Stacy walked into the room dressed in a tight dark red dress that hugged her figure perfectly. The dress had a thigh high slit and she wore matching stilettos. A mask Identical to mom's and a custom made tiara finished off her regal look. "wow! our mothers are definitely going to steal the show!" Sarah exclaimed "She's right, the both of you look like real queens" I said Mom blushed, "Thank you, girls. you also look like princesses. practically fit to be royalty! Just look how adorable Lila looks!" she said Lila, who was holding on to Stacy's hand, wore a cute pink puffy gown and a small tiara matching her mom's "okay, enough with the compliments. The guest have arrived! we need to go now" Stacy said. I took a deep breath unconsciously. mom noticed and said, " Don't be nervous, sweetheart. I'll be walking down with you." she managed to calm me down as she stroked my hair "Attention ladies and gentlemen!" a make voice boomed from the speakers down stairs. "Keep your chin up and walk proudly! you've got this" mom said. The voice came again," may I present to you Mrs Stacy Lokid, Miss Sarah Lokid and Lila Lokid." he introduced Stacy and her family first now it was our turn but this time dad was the one to speak "please welcome my beautiful wife and queen Mrs Skylar Zolansky," he looked at me and smiled, "and it is with great joy and pride that I officially introduce you to my daughter, Natasha Zolansky!" he said Everyone's head turned to look at us. The room was filled with people wearing masks. I wasn't allowed to wear a mask because " Everyone is hear to know who you are. we can't and we won't hide you're beautiful face from the world!" aunt Stacy said Dad came towards me and offered me his hand after kissing mom's cheek "may i have this dance?" he asked. I smiled and nodded The dance went on for at least 10 minutes before everyone else was allowed to dance and socialize " you were great out there! everyone wouldn't stop staring and admiring you even after the dance was over." Sarah said when I came to her side "Thanks but let's go get a drink first, I'm thirsty." I said before dragging her over to the food table "oh my gosh! guess who's here and look right at us" Sarah said excitedly tapping my shoulder "who?" I asked, scanning the area to see whom she was talking about "Alexander Martinez!!!" she said I tried to search my brain but I had no clue who Alexander Martinez was. once Sarah saw how clueless I was she sighed... "Alexander Martinez is a 23 year old well know businessman among the younger business generation. he took over his father's company 3 years ago and he has been taking it to new heights ever since! He is also Europe's most eligible bachelor" she explained " oh my.... he's coming this way! quick act natural!" she took a glass of wine and took a casual sip I chuckled at her cuteness "Good evening Miss Lokid, Miss Zolansky." Alexander Martinez greeted with a charming smile "I couldn't help but come over when I saw that the two of you were alone. I hope I'm not disturbing anything. My name is Alexander by the way" He said "No, no! you're not disturbing anything at all" Sarah quickly spoke up "Actually I think my mother needs me right now so the two of you can talk or at least dance together for a bit so that you don't get bored!" she said stepping behind Alexander and mouthing "you'll thank me later" before quickly vanishing within the crowd "I'm really sorry if I interrupted the two of you" he apologized I smiled and said, " No need for apologies. I'm sure she just had something important to do" he shot me that charming smile again " would you care to dance with me, princess?" he bowed slightly and extended his arm for me to take "lead the way" I said with a politely smile this guy looked like a pretty decent person and even if he wasn't, there are too many people watching so he can't do anything inappropriate even if he wanted to do I followed him to the dance floor "so you're the daughter of the famous Roman and Skylar Zolansky that everyone is talking about. i just had to see your beauty for myself" he smirked I laughed, "Are you satisfied now that you have met me?" I asked playfully "More than you can imagine" he replied we kept up the small talk as we danced together. he was very easy to talk to and surprisingly very open, often telling me silly jokes from his childhood. I told him a few obviously things about myself because I didn't really completely trust him. He seemed like a good person but the time frame was just too short to be sure His phone soon rang and excused himself, he came back a few minutes later looking a bit upset "As much as I would love to stay and keep you company, I really must go." he said with a sad smile "it's okay, I understand." I smiled. " your company was enjoyable!" I said "Thank you, princess. Hopefully we'll meet again. Goodbye." he kissed my hand and left I went to find Sarah and told her everything. Sarah later introduced me to some of her friends and chatted for a while before the guest had to leave and we said good night.
