Garrett was around me like a hawk. I only saw Jett when he’d go to the bed to sleep. But then he’d wake up and say he had to go start looking for Gale. I understood, and I was glad he was so set on helping find her. I just hated that I was doing absolutely nothing. This was my fault.
Claire tried to assure me that it wasn’t, but I couldn’t listen to her. I kept hoping there was something I could do. When I was in the shower at the castle Garrett waited outside my room door, but I kept my bathroom door closed, in case he or someone else came in for whatever reason. Still, I was told I had to keep the door unlocked because you ‘never know what could happen.’
I didn’t feel like arguing so I did. Maybe they would realize later that’s where they went wrong.
