Finding my mum

Chapter 2 The swan Goddess

Raine had been watching Duncan ever since he came, the moment he stepped feet in the dinner he had seen her with that middle-aged man.

'Who was he?'. Raine wondered.

He saw both of them holding hands and laughing together.

He couldn't hear what they were saying so he went closer and he heard Duncan say

"Well I really can't say since they haven't even brought the food" and then both of them laughed.

Raine looks closely at the two and noticed that they looked alike like they were related.

And his suspicion was confirmed when he heard Duncan say again

"Dad, it's all good. I'm fine, I know what I'm doing".

'He's her father!'

Raine was about to go even closer when a butler came from nowhere toward him

"Sir, so you want something to drink?"

The moment the butler broke his cover, Raine quickly turned his back towards the people he had been spying on so they wouldn't see his face.

"Sir Mic Min, are you looking for something?" The butler asked again

Raine thought the butler was sent to him because he was too persuasive almost as if he wanted him to get caught.

" Get the hell out of here now before I have you fired". Raine said in a low but authoritative voice and the butler left. When he looked towards where Duncan and her dad where he that they were gone.

" s**t" Raine cursed out loud.

" O my Raine honey, when did you get here". Raine heard someone talk to him and turned. Behold it was his beautiful mother in her dazzling gown embedded in shinning stones.

"Mother!" He went and hugged her closely then pulled away.

"Raine you look even more handsome" Germina complimented her handsome son.

Raine had left their country 3 years ago in order to continue his education abroad.

He asked to leave the country mostly because he wanted to have an apartment insight in order countries so they made him agree to school there. He only came back because their was a killer on the lose and the school had released all students to go back home until the killer had been captured.

He arrived at the country 2 days ago but didn't go straight home, he went to his best friend house Justin.

Raine had known Justin since when they were 8 and had been close since then. But after he left 3 years ago, he had lost contact with him as he didn't go home even once until he was dismissed from school.

He stayed at Justin home but called his parents that he had arrived in the country. His parents told him that they were preparing a welcome back banquet for him and needed him to be there, but he only promised to be there on the day of the banquet.

The next day before the banquet, he followed Justin to his school and Justin told him how his school was home to the powered people in the country.

That was another reason Raine wanted to leave the country. He had been given birth to with special powers. That wasn't abnormal in their country but his powers were stronger. He wanted to be able to control it so his parents agreed to send him out of the country to one of the most prestigious school of magic.

Now that he was back home, he wanted to continue schooling so he asked his parents to have him transferred to this school.

He was already at his final year in school so he was at the same class with Justin.

The night that Duncan came was his his and other newcomers welcoming party into the school, but she appeared and started terrorizing everyone.

He needed to find out why.

"Honey, what's in your mind?" Germina touched her son and asked him seeing him looking at nothing in particular just thinking.

"Nothing serious mum". Raine replied. He had no idea that he had spaced out until his mother touched him.

"I'll go find father so I can greet him". Raine said and started walking away from his mother.

"Your father is by the balcony". He heard his mother yell, so he went towards the balcony.

"Dad". He exclaimed when he saw his dad resting at the edge of the balcony.

"Son". The father replied as he walked towards him and gave him a huge hug.

"It has been a while, when did you arrive?". His father Larry Mac min asked as he saw his handsome son for the first time in over three years.

"I just came here. Mum said you were by the balcony, so here I am". Raine replied his father coming to stand close to him.

"I've really missed you son". Larry said and looked towards his son that had grown alot in the past three years.

"I missed both you and mum also, don't tell mum this, but I missed you more". Raine said and both father and son laughed.

After a while of staying at the balcony, Raine spotted Duncan with her father and couldn't resist the urge to ask his father who they were

" Dad.. ". He begun as he pointed towards the man first.

" Who is that person?"

"Oh, he is Alfred Jones, one of the most biggest business men in this country".

"He has some of the biggest properties in the state"

Larry answered his son.

"What about the girl by his side?" Raine asked again. He wanted to know at least a little about her.

Larry thought his son was just being inquisitive so he answered.

"That's his one and only daughter and child. She's his pride and joy"

"I remember those times that he would bring her to meetings and everyone would be couldn't help but love her. She was extremely cute when she was little, and has eventually transformed to a beautiful lady. "

" What's her name? ". Raine asked as he looked towards the pretty lady. She was indeed beautiful.

"No one knows. Ever since his wife mysteriously disappeared 10 years ago her name was never heard of again. Only people who knew her longer still remembers it"

" Who was her mother, I mean Mr Jones's wife?"

" I see you are quite inquisitive about that family Raine". Larry looked at his son and asked.

" I just want to be informed. You did say I would take over from you anytime soon". Raine answered his father.

" She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Don't tell your mother I said that". Both father and son laughed at the statement before Larry continued.

" Jermaine Jones was her name. She was the best singer and dancer in the whole of Wanda Sykes. She was the perfect combination of elegance and grace.

No one could even attempt to compete with her. She was also a powered person. They called her the swan Goddess"

" Then how did she disappear, what happened? ". Raine was keen on knowing what happened.

" Well, 10 years ago there was a terrible storm. Three children were stuck in the storm and were being carried away. She saw it and couldn't help but want to help". Larry took a deep breath before he continued

" She went into the storm and tried to save those children while bending the water. After a few trials she managed to save two of the children but the last one was being taken away by the wind."

" She rushed towards the child and pushed him away from the storm but the storm took her instead.

People believe that she might still be alive as her body has not been found even till today. "

" I remember those times when the little girl would accompany her father to meetings and no one could object. She caught everyone hearts at a young age. All she had to do was smile. But since Jermaine disappeared, she hadly was ever seen".

" Son, I've told you all I can about the incident, I think the food is about to be served, let's go inside".

" Ok, I'll be with you in a minute ". Raine replied. He was still trying to wrap his head aroumd what he had just heard.

After a while of thinking he came inside and immediately spotted Duncan.

'How am I able to spot her quickly every time?'. He asked himself.

He saw her walking close to her father, they even say close to each other. She looked nothing like the girl that just them a few hours ago.

He kept looking towards her direction hoping that he would catch her eyes, but she never for once even looked towards him.

She was either looking at her father or at her food.

Through out, she never noticed that one of the students from the school she had gone to to terrorize because of her mother was looking at her intensly the whole time.
