Chapter 3: Uncomfortable Encounters
Ava closed the door behind Liam, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside her. She was happy to have seen him, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that Julian was watching her every move.
As she turned around, she caught Julian's eye. He was standing in the living room, his arms crossed over his chest. "So, who is Liam?" he asked, his tone neutral.
Ava hesitated for a moment before answering. "He's an old friend from art school. We used to be close, but we lost touch after graduation."
Julian's eyes narrowed slightly. "I see. And what did he want?"
Ava shrugged. "Just dropping by to say hello. He's in town for a gig tonight."
Julian nodded, his expression unreadable. Ava couldn't tell if he was jealous or just curious.
The rest of the day was awkward, with Julian barely speaking to Ava. She tried to make conversation, but he just grunted in response.
Ava felt frustrated and trapped. She didn't know what to do to make things right between them.
As the evening drew to a close, Ava realized she had to get out of the house. She couldn't take the tension between her and Julian anymore.
"I'm going out for a walk," she said, grabbing her jacket and heading for the door.
Julian looked up from his phone, his eyes narrowing. "Where are you going?"
Ava shrugged. "Just around the block. I need some fresh air."
Julian nodded, his expression still unreadable. Ava felt a pang of guilt, but she knew she had to get out of there.
As she walked out into the cool evening air, Ava felt a sense of freedom wash over her. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew she had to make some changes.
And as she walked, Ava couldn't help but wonder what Liam was doing right now. Was he thinking of her?
