Chapter 19: A Turning Point
As the days went by, Ava found herself growing closer and closer to Liam. They spent every spare moment together, exploring the city and getting to know each other.
Ava couldn't believe how much she had been missing out on by being with Julian. Liam was everything Julian was not - kind, caring, and genuinely interested in getting to know her.
As they sat on the couch in Liam's apartment, watching the sunset through the window, Ava felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over her.
"I'm so glad I met you," Ava said, turning to Liam with a smile.
Liam smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm glad I met you too," he said. "You're an amazing person, Ava."
Ava felt a flutter in her chest as Liam took her hand in his. It was a simple gesture, but it felt like so much more.
As they sat there in comfortable silence, Ava knew that she had reached a turning point. She could continue down the path she was on, staying with Julian out of obligation and fear of being alone.
Or she could take a chance on Liam, and see where things went.
Ava knew what she had to do. She took a deep breath, and turned to Liam with a smile.
"I think I'm ready to make a change," Ava said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Liam's eyes locked onto hers, and Ava could see the understanding and excitement there.
"What kind of change?" Liam asked, his voice low and husky.
Ava's heart was racing as she took another deep breath. "I think I'm ready to break up with Julian," she said. "And I think I'm ready to see where things go with you."
Liam's face lit up with a radiant smile, and he pulled Ava into his arms.
"I'm so glad you said that," Liam said, his voice muffled against her hair. "I've been waiting for you to realize how much you deserve to be happy."
As Ava wrapped her arms around Liam's waist, she knew that she had made the right decision. She was finally taking control of her life, and she was excited to see what the future held.
