Chapter 23 – Discovery
“Hmm...” Dr. Rey examined Dale's abdominal wound. “Better. Not great, but better. Keep cleaning it every day.”
“Okay.” It was the day after Borghi's death, and Dale was in an actual hospital room this time. Rey had assigned him a pseudonym and treated him as he would a normal patient. That didn't make the news from the x-rays any better.
Rey grimaced. “I guess it's time to deal with that hand.”
Dale gulped and nodded. It wouldn't be his first time under sedation. But one of those times he had been a prisoner. That time, his final thought before slipping away had been that Annora had killed him. This time would go a little more smoothly. Hopefully. He lay back and tried to steady his nerves.
