Chapter 24 – The Tunnels Of Crater
After breakfast, Free led Dale through the corridors.
“The robots came here first, you know,” Free said. He lectured as they walked. “They dug out the whole circle around the pole. They started in the crater. Kandinsky Crater. That's why the colony's called Crater, yeah? The scientists figured the cold would be easier to deal with than the solar wind, so that's where they landed the robots.”
Dale feigned polite interest and tried to pretend Free hadn't already told him much of it already. The boy certainly enjoyed playing tour guide.
“They set up the first solar plant on the crater's rim. So it was always in the light, yeah? They just rotate the collectors. That's where the smaller diggers recharged. The bigger ones are nuclear. They don't need rechar
