Chapter1
I've always wanted to be the best daughter, the best warrior, the best friend so far waiting for the heavens to reward me and bring back the Alpha to life
“boy I was wrong ……
I woke up with my heart beating against my rib cage and with sweat matting my forehead .
I wiped away the sweat that gathered my face from the experience of the nightmare.
But reality struck me like a moving train.
It is reality! It happened .
I still can't believe it!
He died and it's my fault.
I was supposed to protect him, it was my job and I failed .
The thoughts haunted me.
Night time was filled with dreadful nightmares that looked like I was reliving the painful memories over again but my waking hours were worse because then, I realized that those painful memories actually happened and he was dead. All because of me.
One week later.
It's been a week since my whole life turned around but everyday seemed worse than the last.
A small rap on the door and I was jolted out of my thoughts.
“Come in,” my voice came out raspy and barely audible due to all the crying I've been doing lately.
The door knob twisted and the door was pushed open, revealing a maid.
“The Alpha's cousin is here and has sent for you,” the maid said with so much venom in her voice.
Before I could get any word past my throat, she snapped the door shut, leaving me alone with my thoughts once again.
I didn't blame her.
I couldn't.
As a child, I was always told that the wind blew in different tides and this time, it blew towards me for the worst.
My life was perfect.
Everything was going great.
I was the most trained and skilled warrior and for that, was assigned the duty of protecting the Alpha and Luna.
That was the happiest moment of my life.
I promised to lay down my life for them if it ever boiled down to it.
That was my only way of paying them back for everything they had done for me.
I was found loitering on the borders of the pack at six. I had no prior knowledge of my life before then and they took me in and took care of me like their own.
I was loved and respected by all but now, all of that would just be memories.
A single tear escaped my eyes and left a wet trail down my cheeks as the memories of that day came rushing back to me.
With a small sigh, I stood up from the bed and headed to the bathroom.
My reflection on the mirror caught my attention through my peripheral vision and I stopped and turned fully to it.
I looked like a shadow of my old self.
My blue eyes looked like life had been sucked out of it and my cheeks were hollow.
There were bruises all over my body. Some were completely healed while others left deep blue and purple marks.
Not wanting to keep staring at the reminder of what my life had been reduced to, I walked into the shower and let the warm water loosen my tight muscles.
After a quick shower, I got dressed and walked out of the room.
I knew what this was.
It was time for my long awaited punishment.
The Alpha's cousin, Ray, was brutal.
I had only met him a handful of times when I was still very young and his cold eyes always sent chills down my spine.
I didn't expect anything.
I only wished for him to be merciful and grant me a quick death.
That was the only way to atone for my sins.
Each step I took closer to the council room echoed loudly in my ears and my heart thudded loudly.
My wolf, Karla, whined and cried in my mind.
She blamed herself too.
But there was nobody else to blame but me.
The walk to the council room was the longest I've ever taken in my life but soon, I was standing in front of it.
Wiping my sweaty palms down the length of my jeans, I pushed the door open.
I felt different pairs of eyes turn to me and dig holes into different parts of my body immediately.
“Traitor.”
“Murderer.”
“Bitch.”
These are only the few words I heard them call me as I walked in.
Tears pricked the back of my eyes and threatened to grace the occasion but I kept a straight face as I stared back at the members of the council.
Their eyes held contempt and disgust that made me feel dirty.
I looked away from them and decided that the floor was more interesting to look at.
A few seconds later and the door burst open.
I didn't want to look but a force, greater than me, one I couldn't control, had me raising up my head and turning towards the door.
Karla leaped in my mind and I let the tears fall from my eyes.
I couldn't tell why exactly I was crying.
“Everyone leave!” He growled.
His magnetic eyes that kept me glued in my spot held so much emotions in them.
I could only watch as all the council members shuffled past me, bowing to him on their way.
Once alone, he walked towards me in three long strides and stopped a few feet away from me.
“You!” He spat and my heart broke all over again.
The hatred in his voice was unlike anything I'd ever seen before but I couldn't take my eyes off him.
He towered over my 5’7 with dark brown hair and blue eyes that burned deep into my soul. He had grown even more handsome than the last time I saw him and even with the situation I was in, my heart skipped a beat.
“Mate!” The words slipped out of my tongue before I could stop myself.
He immediately wrapped his arms around my neck, cutting my airflow.
“I refuse to be mated to a traitor!” He spat.
Tears blurred my vision and I let them fall freely.
“I…I tried to save him,” I croaked out but my words only breezed past his ears.
“I, Ray Andersons, Alpha of iron stone pack, reject you as my mate!” He announced.
I shook my head as more tears fell down my cheeks.
“Accept my rejection!” He growled and tightened his hold on me.
When it became obvious that he would kill me if I didn't, I said the words I never thought I would say when I finally found my mate.
“I accept your rejection,” I said and a sharp pain stabbed through my chest.
He closed his eyes momentarily and I knew he felt the same was as I did.
“Now,” he opened his eyes again and it became a very dark shade of blue, almost black and a sinister smile crossed his features. “It's time for you to meet your fate!”
I writhed and shook under his hold but he was larger and stronger than me.
His hold green was impossibly tighter and black dots clouded my vision.
Just before I slipped into unconsciousness, the door was thrown open and he pushed me to the side.
I coughed and greedily took in as much air as I could.
“Alpha,” the guard who had come in started. “The Luna has sent for her,” he said just when I thought the day couldn't get any worse.
