In contrast, to Minjun this was already his best effort to not ignite any unwanted things. As if meeting these people was not enough, Minjun caught another familiar face among them looking back at him ignorantly.
Sigh, actually he kind of already saw this coming, when he decided to rent this particular private court, he knew it was inevitable to bump into them. But Minjun planned it well to avoid it. He checked the schedule board of this place before he booked it. Because these guys were regular customers, it was easy to know what time they would use the court. So Minjun booked it two hours before their turn, as it was the only time that hadn’t been filled. It was well planned.
But who knew that Minjun would be too distracted after playing with Jisun.
On his side, Minjun could feel how Jisun gasped and ready to call that certain guy at the back, “Yunji-”
Minjun tugged the younger boy so hard then closed the latter's mouth with his right palm, right before he finished calling the name. They were standing face to face now, the older’s face was the only thing Jisun could see, with Minjun’s back on that scoundrel looking group. The gap was so little that both of them could feel each other’s hot breath come and go.
“Don’t say anything. Whatever you see or hear, don’t talk.”
Jisun was a little bit shorter than Minjun, so the younger had to try a little to look at the senior’s face properly. Wrong move, seeing someone’s face this close was no good for anyone, so Jisun nodded frantically.
Once Minjun made sure that Jisun wouldn’t say anything, he turned to face the real deal again.
“What a sight. You got a new friend already? Does the last one not suit your standard?”
Minjun snickered, he granted a glance at Yunjin while talking. “You don’t have an idea. I learned the hard way to realize what kind of person I was engaging myself with.”
Some of those guys gasped playfully and some of them were genuinely shocked at Minjun’s words. “Then what about that buddy?” Leader of the pack pointed at Jisun. “Whose son is this one here?”
Anyone could sense the mocking tone in that question and Jisun couldn’t help but feel offended by it. What was wrong with him and his parents? Why did this ugly thing dragged them into this? Who were they anyway? But Jisun was also curious not only about these bunch of annoying guys' relation with Minjun, he was curious of what would be Minjun’s answer too.
“Do you see I’m lacking something to be bothered by those things?” Minjun took a step forward. “Aren’t you talking about that person behind you instead, Jung Daejung?”
That proud smile Jung Daejung had since the time he saw Minjun was faltered, “Which one?” Daejung gritted the words out.
Here are the things about what Minjun said, it was bullshit. At least he really had no idea about Daejung’ social circle, nor did he care, so Minjun really just threw it out at him carelessly. For the sake of Minjun’s counter attack. Who knew it would hit so close to Daejung’s home? Minjun was surprised himself.
There were more than five people standing behind this very guy. After what Minjun had said, none of them could keep their arrogant expression in tact. It made Minjun want to laugh and also was concerned about Daejung. How ironic.
Except for Yunjin, that guy really didn’t show anything on his face.
Minjun waved his hand to dismiss the topic, “I don’t know, don’t think too much about it.”
But how could one not think about it? Especially when it was not a foreign thought in one's mind.
“Now if you don’t mind, I really need to go.” Both Minjun and Jisun were walking toward the group, “Make a way will you?”
The hallway was actually wide enough for Minjun to try another direction and avoid them. But he tried once, and one guy had blocked the way before. So to save the unnecessary effort, Minjun would just tell them to simply f**k off or better make a way for him to pass through.
Jisun thought the senior beside him was growing a second head.
“I really don’t understand you.” Daejung said.
“Please save your time.”
“You think you’re better than… us?”
“f you want to think about it like that-”
“You’re much worse, Lim Minjun.” With that being said, Daejung stepped aside to let Minjun and Jisun pass through.
But to think that this guy was finished with what he was going to say was a mistake. “You shouldn’t engage yourself with him.” Minjun didn’t see it but Daejung was now looking at him and Jisun, with both disgust and pitying eyes. “Out of people."
Didn't wanting to be bothered anymore by whatever that guy was going to say, Minjun pulled Jisun with him to walk faster.
“Bye Jisun-ah.”
They stopped walking.
Minjun thought Daejung was only playing with him, talking bullshit just like how Minjun was a moment ago. But then that guy called Jisun’s name? Minjun was one hundred percent sure he didn’t introduce Jisun, earlier.
Did they know each other?
Mnjun turned his head to the boy beside him. He tried to read the other’s face but nothing came to mind. So without saying anything, Minjun let go of his grip on Jisun’s elbow, then walked out by himself.
If they knew each other, why was Jisun silent about it? Didn’t he think that it was important to tell Minjun about it? If Minjun knew, or if Jisun told him first, he wouldn’t have to tired himself trying to-
What was exactly Minjun trying to do earlier? Protect Jisun? Stop joking!
Minjun really wanted to turn around, go back to the court and ask Daejung about what he meant earlier. It was supposed to be an empty word as he thought, but the fact that Daejung knew Jisun made Minjun think about it over again.
To whom did he say all that? And what does all that mean?
In the end none of these questions were asked, because Minjun didn’t go back. He walked and walked so fast that it almost felt like he was running away.
“Hyung! Hyung! Wait!” Jisun pulled the senior's shoulder. “Why did you leave me?” He whined playfully, “What if they bullied me? What should I do then?”
Minjun didn’t answer that, there were a lot of things he didn’t understand at the moment. But Jisun didn’t notice the troubled look on Minjun's face, he kept on talking non stop about how scary and annoying that Daejung guy was. Also how Yunjin was doing nothing back then despite being together with that group.
“Anyway hyung, h-how did he know my name?”
Minjun frowned, “You don’t know each other?”
“It looks like it’s not the case to him, but this is the first time I see him.” Now they started to walk aimlessly, side by side. “Who is he, hyung?”
Minjun was trying so hard not to heave a relieved sigh.
“Someone I knew.” Minjun wanted to stop right there, at a very good portion for Jisun to know something unnecessary about him. But then he thought that Jisun deserved to know a bit more. Not because it was about him, but more because Daejung seemed to know who Jisun was, so it would be right if Jisun knew about him too.
“I was a racer. We often competed with each other.” Then Minjun remembered something funny, he looked at Jisun judgingly. “You scared of being beaten up by them?”
“Well, we’re out of numbers and obviously they’re much older than you.” Jisun answered while rubbing the itch on his nape.
Minjun nodded, it was understandable. “They won’t beat anyone, so you can relax.”
“Thank you for the information, but maybe you should tell me about it ten minutes earlier?”
They chuckled at that.
“Oh hyung, do you still join the race?”
It took Minjun some time until he finally convinced himself to answer. “No.”
“Why?”
“I’m in my last year. I want to focus on the upcoming exams.” That was the reason he tried to tell everyone, including himself.
Jisun hummed in understanding.
"Jisun."
"Yeah, hyung?"
"About what Daejung said earlier… uh about parents and stuff." Minjun was worried that Jisun would be hurt when Daejung talked about it earlier. It had been bugging him, Minjun thought that now might be the right time to cheer him "It's not about you. He was just being a d**k. He was acting like that because my fath-"
“Oh, I know.”
“You know?”
“That your father is The Commissioner General? Everyone at school knows actually. You've been a hot topic since the day one you moved to our school.”
“I’m that famous? I don’t know about that.” Despite the joking tone in Minjun's voice, honestly he didn't find it exhilarating at all. He was rather anxious about the fact that everyone at school saw him as the General's son.
“Of course you wouldn’t know. Chan hyung and Kyungsoo hyung are your only friends at school, and they didn’t even like to gossip around.”
“You know Kyungsoo?” Now Minjun was genuinely surprised. How did Jisun manage to learn a lot of things?
Jisun shrugged nonchalantly.
"Is it bad?"
"What?"
"That I only befriended Chan and Kyungsoo." In all honesty, Minjun never really cared about people's opinion, especially when it came to his own personal matters. But he was curious about what Jisun would probably think about him.
A loner?
Picky?
Arrogant?
Which one?
"What do you mean? Now it's three. Chan hyung, Kyungsoo hyung and Han Jisun."
