Chapter 1 Birthday Surprise
The sun streams in through the window's in her room. Another beautiful day. Warm sunlight, yet a cool house. Arms stretch upwards as fingers reach towards the ceiling. A yawn is the only noise that could be heard in that moment, but it was short lived. Her bedroom door flies open and a cheerful woman comes dancing into the room. Mia starts to groan, but quickly shifts it into a giggle.
"I already know what day it is! You don't have to barge in here and make a whole scene about it mom!" Mia tries to pull herself away from her bed before her mother, Amelia, jumps onto the bed. Of course Mia doesn't move fast enough and is caught in a loving embrace then showered with a thousand kisses as if she was a child.
"Sweetheart you are the love of my life! My whole world! Now stay still and let me shower you with love on your birthday!" The two women giggle as the battle of hugs and kisses continue. A tall and slender man makes his way towards the room, but stays by the door. Leo, her father.
"Amelia leave Mia alone. Let her enjoy a peaceful birthday morning routine before you drown her in your emotions." The deep voice spoke calmly, but wasn't demanding just trying to add his own jokes into the mix. A few more minutes of the giggling battle, then Amelia jumps off the bed and wiggles around.
"You maybe twenty-three as of today, and I an old lady, but you can't win against me my sweet child. Come down for breakfast so we can discuss the days events, I have invited a special someone from down the street to come and have dinner with us." A smile crosses Mia's lips as her mother's words fill the room, thoughts of the upcoming dinner dance around her mind and a new excitement overtakes her.
"Ok ok! Let's talk about this after breakfast!" Both of her parents leave her room laughing as they shut the door behind them. Mia instantly starts her morning routine. A quick shower, brush her teeth, hair and make up. She rushes out of her private bathroom and makes her way to her closet, now it was time to find an outfit. She knew whatever she picked right now would be the same outfit for dinner, there will be no moment to change so everything must be perfect.
Mia pulled out a couple of dresses, walked over to her full body mirror while holding the dresses up to her body, threw them on her bed and walked back to her closet. This show went on for about fifteen minutes before finally Mia picked out an outfit, the finished product was a set of blue jean capris and a baby blue crop top finished with a pair of tan wedges. As she went to walk out of her room, a white ribbon caught her attention. As quickly as she could, Mia snatched the ribbon and pulled it underneath her hair so she could tie her hair into a loose ponytail.
A few minutes later and Mia was stepping off the steps, the sound of voices drew her towards the dining room. She listened closely as she realized with each step that more than her parents sounded to be at the dining table, when Mia rounded the corner she seen the neighboring family already seated at the table. A surprised gasp left her lips as her eyes passed over the five adults. Her mother and father looked up with smiles, Ava and Henry threw their arms up and welcomed Mia into the dining room.
"Oh good morning beautiful lady and Happy Birthday!" Henry was the first to speak and as always stood up to pull Mia into a warm embrace. "We are so excited to spend the day with you child." He always called her child with a slight pause, almost as if he wanted to add the word my in front of it.
"Oh give her to me! Get away from her!" Ava shooed her husband away and pulled Mia into an even bigger hug, the lady was just as childish and positive as her own mother. Ava was a mother, her second mother that she could run to and who wouldn't tell her no. "Happy Birthday my girl, you are getting so big! Stop growing already!"
"Auntie don't be so mean to uncle Henry!" Mia loved the attention, she always felt like this is where she belonged. This was meant to be her home away from home, her in-laws. A single thought of the word in-laws made her turn to give her full attention to the last person in the dining room, Jasper. "Good morning Jasper. I hope you had a good night." Mia stood awkwardly as she dropped her eyes to the floor, a bit of hope flashed through her.
"Oh I had a wonderful night, slept like a baby." Jasper didn't have on the happy and excited moods like everyone else, he was cocky and was looking her over as if he was a starving predator. "Happy Birthday Mia, how was your night by the way?" He purposely threw the question back at her knowing very well the midnight birthday events that their parents was unaware of.
The elders had already sat down letting the details of today be their main conversation topic, it was time for the moms to perfect any final details. However Jasper continued to stare down Mia, Mia stared at the floors as slight flashbacks ran through her head. The moments of her scratching his back, him pulling her hair, the kisses and the moans. All of it came rushing back to her as his eyes never left her and roamed over her body instead.
"Mia come sit and eat so we aren't late. We have a schedule to stick to today."

Once everyone was done with a filling breakfast, the group made their way out of the house and towards the cars but was still lost in conversation. Another twenty ish minutes and the group gets into the cars making their way to a museum, the day was to be filled with things Mia loved to do in her free time. After the museum the group went to a farmers market, Jasper bought Mia a baby goat and their parents watched in awe. You could tell that it was meant to be a date for Jasper and Mia set up by their parents. It was going as well as they planned. The day progressed and everyone was back at the Williams house, dinner had been prepared and the group was now playing board games and card games.
The elders had a few drinks, Mia was sipping on one while Jasper kept up with the heads of the house. After a few hours Mia wonders away from the group and makes her to her room. The room screamed she was young and innocent in many ways, hopeful and eager for the start of her adult life. Being twenty-three meant she didn't have to answer to anybody and could decide for herself, even move out if she truly wanted. While she was taking off her wedges and looking for pajamas her door suddenly opened and shut hard, Mia stopped and looked behind her to see Jasper standing against the door watching her.
"What do you think you are doing?" She asked as she stood up straight and turned to face him, Jasper took a couple of unsteady steps towards Mia and motioned for her to come close to him.
"I have a secret, I haven't told anyone yet but I will first thing in the morning. You have to be the first one to know." Mia got excited and walked over to him, she wrapped her arms around his waist and snuggled into his chest. Before she could asked what his secret was he started to speak. "Remember that girl from High School? Her name is Olivia, remember how I liked her but she moved away? Well she's back tomorrow, her plans lands in the morning." Mia stiffened, her heart sank and the pain of heartbreak hit hard as Jasper continued to talk. "I'm going to do whatever I have to do to make her my wife. I love her."
