Chapter1
In the werewolf world, only two things excited us - having a wolf and finding your mate.
If you are met with one of these things, there'll always be an adrenaline that goes through you with excitement.
As an omega, I never imagined having a mate. At least, not this early. All I heard about Omegas was that they would remain mateless and wolfless for a very long time and some of them don't even find their wolves and mates until they take their own lives.
It was something like a tradition in the werewolf world. Omegas are the outcasts. They are treated as one and they end up as one.
So, when I had my eighteenth birthday, I wasn't expecting a mate. I only got more terrified as I blew the little fire off the cake’s candle.
So many questions invaded my thoughts.
What was it for me now? Do I remain still, anticipating the dream of having a mate that can never come? Do I do nothing but anticipate a life I can never have? What was the next way out?
In fact, ever since I clocked eighteen, I had been devastated. Downcast. Dejected.
However, I never thought, not in the next million years, that I would be mated to an Alpha in the next few weeks.
Alpha Jaxon came like a dream of the night, sweeping me off my feet and shielding me from this cruel world.
He smiled down at me, took my hand, and promised a life of charm and pleasure. He not only gave me a life that I enjoyed but also a life I had always craved for.
He was my knight in shining armour and my Romeo.
The love of my life.
And, never for once since I met him, did I think he would walk me down the aisle.
And, he was.
I never thought the day I would be legally joined by Alpha Jaxon would come but it was here.
And, I walked down the aisle, proceeding to my journey as a Luna.
An Omega becoming a Luna - what an odd transformation, people would say.
But, it was more like a destiny change for me rather than a transformation.
Only a few people gathered in the Pack’s hall which were Alpha Jaxon’s family and a few reputable positions in the Pack.
My union with Alpha Jaxon did not only shock people, but it also intensified the hate they had for me.
But, they couldn't do anything about it. They wouldn't dare touch me.
People despised me and couldn't even hide it.
Even Alpha Jaxon’s family hated my gut and hated the fact that Jaxon ignored all their rejection of our union and went ahead to drag me down the aisle.
But, none of that matters. All that mattered was the man at the end of the aisle who smiled at me, waiting to receive me.
I was to take the last step before I finally reached out to him and let him take my hands so the wedding vows could start but I was interrupted.
An intervention that changed my life drastically, for the worst.
A blonde burst through the doors of the hall, stomping forward to us. Everyone knew who she was. Even I, who had just arrived at Silver Bow Pack, knew that she was the beautiful, only daughter of Alpha Landon of Moon Bow Pack.
Moon Bow Pack and Silver Bow Pack were acquainted so, initially, everyone thought it would only make sense if Moon Bow Pack’s Alpha daughter and Silver Bow Pack’s Alpha would get married.
That was the main reason my union with Jaxon pissed a lot of people.
They were always talking about how Veronica was a better match. How it was so depressing that someone like me could dare take Veronica’s place.
And, frankly, I could see their complaint.
Veronica was indeed a beauty to behold.
A blonde hair cascaded down in its wavy style. Her jaws were as sharp. Her lips, a perfect full lips. Her gray, glassy orbs sparkle against the bright sun.
Her beauty had no denial.
Veronica walked up to us as I swallowed, her heels making soft clinks on the wooden floor.
What could be the problem?
I looked at Jaxon. He didn't seem fazed that Veronica could interrupt our wedding unprovoked.
Maybe it wasn't much of a big deal then.
Veronica walked up to Jaxon and hit him across the face.
Everyone in the hall let out a gasp including me.
“How dare you, you filthy imbecile, make fun of me this way?”
I frowned, my jaw still dropped at the slap. Then again, Jaxon wasn't still fazed.
“Veronica, can we talk about this later?”
About what? What was happening?
“Sure! So, what should we talk about later? The fact that you came to me every night for good s*x because your fianceè irritated you or the fact that I'm pregnant?!”
Another collective gasp filled the air in the hall but this time, it was excluding me.
I didn't know how to react to the piece of information.
I blinked once, twice. Trying to decipher the situation.
What the hell is going on?”
Jaxon suddenly stepped up to Veronica.
“You are pregnant? Didn't you use birth control?”
What?
“Clearly, seeing that you came to me in the middle of the night three weeks ago and didn't even ask any question before you took me in.”
Another collective gasp fills the air. Another one that excluded me.
I was frozen to a spot, unable to react or speak.
My lips were sealed as if I had lost the ability to speak and I watched the scene playing out before me like a statue.
“Oh, don't be ridiculous. Shouldn't you know that I come to your room every night to have s*x?”
Jaxon questioned Veronica casually.
This can't be happening.
“You are the ridiculous bastard, Jaxon. You assured me that you were going to dumb this b***h, only to have her dragged down the aisle, do you think I'm stupid?”
And, I should believe I was the b***h in question.
“Veronica, just leave and let me marry Tessa in peace. After the wedding, we can talk about the baby.”
What? Does he still wish to go on with the wedding?
Is he out of his damn mind?
And, why is nobody reprimanding any of them for this madness? His family were seated still in their seats as if somebody hadn't interrupted their son’s wedding. And, Jaxon’s mother even had an amused smile hinted on her face.
Had they known about all of these? Was I the only clueless one?
“Who said I was going on with this wedding?”
I finally spoke, my voice foreign and hoarse even to me.
“Me. I did.”
Jaxon turned to me and answered casually. He was about to turn around to continue his argument with Veronica when I scoffed.
“You must be kidding. Do you think I want to marry a cheating husband?”
Jaxon turned away from fuming Veronica, turning towards me with a huge smirk on his lips.
“Look who is talking about choices. How dare you speak about choices when I found you filthy and still chose to be your mate?”
He moved closer to me with threatened steps that I could only take fearful steps backward.
“I found you in rags but I dressed you.”
He continued.
“Everyone opposed the madness but I still ignored all of them to give you the luxury of getting married to an Alpha. So, how dare you…”
Jaxon suddenly pulled my hair, yanking it down painfully so that I yelped loudly.
Nobody flinched, nobody came to my rescue.
This is insane
“…talk about choices? You are a lowlife b***h, you don't have the right to make choices. So, you will go on with this wedding, I will make you my Luna, get as many mistresses as I want, f**k them in our matrimonial bed and you'd do nothing but stay married to me. Is that clear?”
He yanked harder at my hair when I gave no response.
“I said, is that clear?!”
I quickly nodded when I saw the rage rising on his face.
He released his grip on my hair and turned to Veronica, dragging her out of the hall.
I stayed frozen on the spot where Jaxon had left me. The pain from the way he pulled at my hair was still there but nothing could compare with the pain I felt in my heart.
It felt like it got pierced by a knife and shredded into a million shards.
I have never seen Jaxon like this. I had always seen him in all his rainbow glory. I always thought I was getting married to the sweetest Alpha in the region.
And, why was this normal to his family? They are not even making any expressions to prove that they were shocked by their son’s attitude.
His mother got up and walked up to me.
“You better not say anything about this to any outsider or, I would have your filthy head cut off.”
And, she strutted out of the hall, casually.
I scoffed, dumbfounded.
This can't be real.
Jaxon’s father, the previous Alpha, got up and also turned to me.
“You are to act like a Luna in a public place, if you try to impose any authority behind closed doors, I’d have your head. You, as a lowlife omega, have no right to make rules.”
Then, he turned around and left the hall as well.
My lips parted in shock.
Janet, Jaxon’s sister, also cat-walked over to me, intentionally stepping on my toe with her 5-inch heels as she did.
I cried out in pain at the pain she inflicted.
“I have always wanted to do that.”
She also turned around and exited the hall.
Then, the last person, Pascal, Jaxon’s beta, got up.
He was the nicest to me, I wonder what he had to say.
“It's so sad being an omega because if you were a stronger wolf, you would have heard their moans from your room. They do it every night.”
Was his statement and he also left the hall.
I stared into space in shock.
How the best day of my life turned into the worst day of my life in milliseconds will forever be a history to me.
