Chapter Thirty-Six
I gave them my oath.
I will obey the orders I am given. I gladly offer my life to our cause. As long as there is breath in my body, I will fight for a world free of the cruel tyranny of the Incorporation.
But sometimes, in the dark and the quiet, when the monster I’ve let them put in my mind rests for a moment, I wonder what will follow all the bloodshed.
Will there be enough left to rebuild a society worth living in, or will everyone who remains scatter to the wind, trying to find a place to survive?
