“Get the whips” Troy commanded the pack warriors. He wanted them to flog Lyra to death.
Lyra stood in the middle of two poles, her hands and feet had been tied to each. She was helpless, no one defended her. No one stood up for her.
Eira was smiling, almost laughing as the warriors arrived with the whip.
The sound the whip of the warriors made when it first came in contact with Lyra’s flesh could be heard from miles away.
“More” Troy ordered the warriors, he wanted to see Lyra bleed, and so did Eira, Anna and some of the maids who stood among the crowd and watched like they were being entertained.
The warriors continued beating Lyra as they were commanded by Troy.
Lyra was silent. She didn’t scream to show any sign of pain. Her eyes were closed, as flashes of how her mother was murdered by the rogue werewolves came to her. She was going through something similar.
A huge part of the pain Lyra felt at that point wasn’t because she was being flogged by the warriors but it was from the fact she just got betrayed again. First by Eira, now Anna too is hating on her for a reason she doesn’t know.
Lyra begin to get numb to the lashes of the warriors, she began to faint.
They don’t normally kill thieves in the pack, but Lyra case seemed to be different because Troy didn’t order the warriors to stop even after Lyra began to faint.
Eira, Anna, Troy and the maids who testified against Lyra were all enjoying every bit of Lyra’s punishment. No one in the entire pack felt sorry for her.
Anna had only agreed to Eira’s plan so she would become close friends with the luna. After all it was much better than being friends with an ordinary omega werewolf like Lyra.
Soon, after receiving more of the beatings from the warriors, Lyra began to breathe slowly. She was fading.
She managed to open her eyes, and she saw a blurry image of Eira smiling, Troy barking orders at the warriors and Anna looking on with a lot of excitement behind them.
Finally, Lyra stopped breathing. She was dead.
But the warriors didn’t notice, so did everyone else who was watching. Until after a while, when the saw that she was no longer moving. One of the werewolves moved closer to her to check and then signaled the others that Lyra was dead.
“Carry her” Troy barked at the warriors, ordering them to untie Lyra’s lifeless body from the poles.
The warriors untied Lyra’s body from the poles and carried her, following Troy as he led them towards the woods.
“Throw her body in the woods, let the wild animals eat her” Troy commanded the warriors.
“Good riddance” he muttered under his breath.
To him it was one of the best decisions he had made since he became alpha. Disposing of someone as weak and disgusting as Lyra was brilliant, he thought.
Why did the moon goddess pair him with her as mate in the first place, he wondered, but decided not to give it much thought.
Eira and Anna both grinned in excitement as the warriors ran into the woods with Lyra’s dead body, dropping her a few times. They finally got to the middle of the woods and tossed the body, without caring where, or how it landed. Then they ran back to join the rest of the pack.
They all returned to continue with the celebrations, like nothing happened.
The smell of something burning from afar tickled her nostrils, she woke up almost immediately.
“Are you okay miss?” a male who stood some distances away asked her, he had been watching the body he thought was dead for some time now.
He had wondered if she was really dead, after staring at her lifeless body for a while. He turned to leave when he heard her breathe. Without thinking twice, he walked faster towards her to see if she might need any help.
“Don’t try to stand up yet” he says rushing to her side.
Right there in the woods, he mixed some herbs and gave to her, to help her gain some strength.
She struggles to stand up, but he pushes her back to the bed and holding her still.
“You should not try standing up yet, you need to regain some strength first” the mysterious man stays, trying to get her to stay still.
“Where am I?” she asked ass she brought down the bowl of herbs from her mouth.
The mysterious man took a brief pause before answering her.
“You’re in the capital city of Maywood” he finally answered, collecting the bowl of herbs from her.
“How did I get here?” She asked immediately, but didn’t get a reply.
“I said how did I get here?” she asked again increasing her tone this time around.
“I thought you were dead” he started.
“But as it turned out, you weren’t” he added.
Dead? She asked within herself. How could she have been dead? The only thing she remembered was being woken up by the smell of something burning.
“What do you mean I was dead” she asked him again as she tried to sit up from where she laid, seeking more answers”
“I have been watching your body and you hadn’t moved for a long time, suddenly I heard you breathe.” He said, trying to explain everything to her.
“I’m Arin by the way” he added trying to help her up.
“I’m…………………” she says, she couldn’t remember her name.
Lyra felt weird, why could she not remember her name? How did she end up in the woods? Why is she feeling like this? Who is this strange man? Why should she trust him? She had a lot of questions and she needed answers. She wasn’t sure Arin would be able to give her the answers she needed.
“Who am I?” she asked him, breaking he silence.
