I was horrified as I saw Aliyah standing at the door, looking at Jared and me. She was looking at us like she’s seen a ghost. Did she see us kissing?
Aliyah closed the door softly and said, “What is going on?”
I looked at Jared, waiting for him to say something, but he was tongue-tied. He doesn’t look as shocked and horrified as I do, though. I turned back at Aliyah and said, “Listen. It’s not what you think.”
Aliyah: “Well, I just saw you two kissing. What am I supposed to think?”
Kara: “I was going to accept Jared’s rejection, but he kissed me.”
Aliyah raised both hands in front of her and said, “Wait. Hold up. Rejection? What are you talking about?”
