She Loves Me Not

Chapter Three

I looked outside the window and couldn't believe my eyes, there were tall buildings and commercial billboards everywhere, we were already in the big city. I've never been here before, everything looked surreal. I've lived all my life in our little and simple town back in Winter oaks, it was fascinating to see the busy streets, cars and the people everywhere, I've only seen this place on TV and on the internet I can't believe I'm actually here.

"So what do you think Rox? Pretty grand eh? I think we're just about a half mile near your school" aunt Claire said while checking the GPS

"It sure does, I've never been in the big city before, everything looks so big" I gazed outside thinking how far away I am from home, everything feels unfamiliar.

"We're finally here!" Aunt Chris pointed at the big white gate and opened her window.

There it was Montgomery University, the big gate was fully opened, a bunch of students were coming in, cars are parked everywhere, as we entered the school grounds my heart started racing, this was it, I'm finally here.

"Rox, remember to call us everyday okay? If there is a problem we'll come rushing here as fast as we can" 

"Don't forget your vitamins, eat on time"

"Don't talk to strangers especially if its a boy" They were all talking at the same time I could barely understand.

I nodded and gave them all a big smile, "Yes I will I promise! I-I'll miss you guys" my heart sank, this was it I'll be on my own. They all hugged me so tight I could barely breathe, they began to tear up as I walked away, I looked back and waved at them one last time, I never thought saying goodbye was this hard.

"Room 408, where is it?" I can smell fresh paint as I walked the dorm hall there were a lot of students loitering, some of the rooms were open and everyone seemed busy unpacking and chit chatting.

"Here it is room 408, knock knock" I opened the door and saw this tall skinny girl wearing a skimpy coral shirt and pants, her brown hair was tied up in a bun, she was busy rearranging her stuff, there were boxes everywhere and clothes lying on the floor.

"Ummm...excuse me.." I cleared my throat

"Oh hi! You must be my roommate, I'm Jena" She smiled and shook my hand

"Nice to meet you, I'm roxanne but you can call me Rox"

"That's a pretty name, by the way I hope you don't mind the mess I made, I'll be done in a jiffy, and oh that's your bed over there" she pointed at a single bed with pink covers, beside it was a small study table and a white closet.

"Not at all, I 'll start unpacking too" I took out our family picture and stared at it for a minute. 

"So where you from, Rox?" I looked up and saw Jena smiling at me warmly

"Winter oaks its a little town in New Valley, you probably haven't heard of it" Jena sat to her bed opposite to mine, she looked at me excitedly.

"Ohh so your a small town girl eh, is this your first time in the city?" 

I nodded

"Well your gonna love it here, and this school is like the best ya know, and there are a lot of cute boys too" she winked

"R-rright"
