Chapter 1
CHAPTER 1 - Raziela
“Raziela!” My mother's voice echoed through the hallway as I closed my eyes briefly, trying to understand why she insisted I join her at their business meeting.
Sometimes mum can be annoying I swear.
I kept staring at myself in the mirror, looking at the outfit that mom had picked for me to wear to this stupid meeting of theirs.
It’s not like they needed me to be there for today, but both Mom and Dad insisted I join them, so here I was as the eldest daughter of the Jenkins family because Mum wanted me to take up a more active role in the company.
My family is one of the wealthiest families in the country. We run the business side of medicine in the country.
I inhaled sharply as I looked at myself in the mirror once again, taking in the way the dress was sitting on me.
It was a black sheath dress with a three-inch pump, which I hated to the core.
I looked f*****g old.
“Just a minute,” I responded to her as I swallowed hard, throwing the heels off and trying to take off the dress as well.
It looked hideous.
I rushed to my closet, picking out something more like me.
I grabbed tight black jeans with a brown bodysuit and some flat shoes.
“Raziela—“Mum gasped as soon as she opened the door, looking at me with her eyes widened as if she had seen her worst nightmare.
“What do you think you are doing?” She asked me as I tried to fix my dirty blonde hair into a bun.
She would have had a fit if she had seen me a few minutes ago when I was still in bed. But what else can I do>? I was forced to come to this stupid meeting.
“Why did you change your dress?” She asked me as I turned to look at her with a look of disbelief. She didn’t expect me to wear that.
“Mom? I looked like I was thirty,” I retorted,
“That’s the point.” She folded her arms.
“Uhmm guys. We are running late... What’s taking so long?” My father walked into the room dressed up in a black tuxedo and his hair combed back.
“Your daughter. Look at her! She’s not ready,” Mum complained,
She was not happy with how I looked after refusing to change into that horrible outfit that she asked the stylist to bring up to me.
“I am not wearing that. I look old and ugly.” I pointed out, grabbing my phone from the table.
Mum scoffs in disbelief as she looks at Dad with her eyes, signalling for him to do something.
“Raz. If—“
“I will be happy to stay behind,” I cut him short as they both glanced at each other. My mother shook her head before walking away.
“Let’s go and we can talk about this later,” Dad said, giving me a weak smile before he turned, following Mum behind.
I grabbed a white cardigan, throwing it on before grabbing the small shoulder bag that could carry some makeup and anything that I would need.
“Where are we going?” I asked Mum as I lowered my head, typing on my phone.
I was catching up on the gossip that Julie, my best friend, had for me. She always had the hottest gossip in town, but this time, it was about her cousin.
“No way! He wouldn’t be.”
“No Way!” I responded with shocked emojis.
“Yes. They want him to marry someone,” she responded, as I gasped, shaking my head.
The hottest couple in university just broke up because Declan, the alpha’s son, is about to get married to someone else.
I feel sorry for the girl who will have to deal with what’s coming for her. She easily doesn’t give up, and I’m pretty sure she will not let go of Declan.
“Remember, only the answer when spoken to” Mom reminded me of my responsibility today.
“Why didn’t Salvador attend the meeting instead?” I questioned, not lifting my gaze from the screen where the story was blowing up about the heir to the Stormborn Empire being engaged.
“Because it doesn’t concern him”. My mother was the one to respond, glancing at me in the back as I lifted my gaze to meet her.
What was this mysterious meeting about? I inwardly thought as I focused on my phone again.
Even though I come from a wealthy family, people barely recognise me because I try to keep to myself. I have my best friend, Julie, who is also Harper’s cousin.
We all attend the same prestigious university, but I have never actually met the alpha’s son. Maybe a few times, I have taken a glance at him, but the aura that is always radiating off him just doesn’t sit well with me.
But his brother? I have had a crush on him ever since high school. Jared is the kind of man I have always dreamed of getting married to.
He is kind and an introvert. Even though he is mostly with his asshole of a brother who does nothing but treat everyone like s**t.
“We are here,” Dad announced as I looked up at the mansion in front of me. What the hell were we doing here?
I was familiar with this place because I had escorted Julie to run errands for Harper. We have brought things for that asshole several times, even though I never got to see him.
“Mum, Dad? What are we doing here?” I asked them as soon as I got out of the car.
“You will find out” Mum beamed with a smile as she wrapped her arm around Dad’s arm, walking in front of me.
I felt my knees go weak because I had never been inside this house. Our family is close to the Stormborn family, but I have always stayed behind whenever they came here.
I followed my mother and father behind as I sighed heavily, holding on tight to my purse. Maybe if Mum had mentioned that I was coming here, I would have dressed up and done my makeup. Now I would meet David like this.
I broke into a sweat as my palms got all sweaty. I was nervous. This all made me nervous.
“I am not marrying her!” The voice echoed through the walls as I walked closer to Mum and Dad after they welcomed us into their house.
“Please lower your voice. They might be here any minute”. The Luna’s voice came from the living room as Mum and Dad stopped in their tracks.
“Kevin! Olivia! You are here,” the alpha king exclaimed as soon as the door swung open.
He must have sensed our presence. My heart was thundering, and my knees were weak. In my heart, I must’ve known they were talking about me, but I was waiting for confirmation.
“Thank you for agreeing to this. I know it’s difficult, but this union will be the start of something big” Bjorn, the alpha king exclaimed, beaming with a smile as I turned to look at Declan, his eyes darkened while clenching his jaws as he looked at me.
“Come on in Love, you are welcome to the family!” Mrs Stormborn announced, coming closer to me.
“What?” I looked at my father, confused by everything that was happening.
“Come on in! We have so much to speak about in preparation for the wedding,” she said, gesturing for us to come in.
Declan scoffed as he stormed out of the room, leaving me alone with my parents. What the f**k? I was the one that was getting married to Declan Stormborn? What kind of trouble did my parents just put me into?
