life is darwin's playground

we have so much to prove

to ourselves and others

our triumphs drive us to crave more

our failures leave our ego in shambles

even those more secure

will have something to prove

even if the proof is that

life is meaningless without challenge

what do you want to prove?

how do you want them to see you differently?

key to that change:

see yourself through their eyes

show others that pride isn't your barrier

let them speak freely

the biggest mask a person can wear

is the one they look in the mirror and call a face

i stare for hours just contemplating

the depth of your smile

i know you deep down

but i often wonder what crosses your mind

i wonder whats behind your smile

your tears

your touch

what do you dream?

how can i make it happen?

am i there enough?

regret sinks in

i chase your smile

i chase your touch

because to be near you

i feel I'm right where i need to be

i dream of the day

we stand eye to eye

and those questions my soul longs for

are answered

it burns anyone trying to snuff it

depending on the strength of your flame

how do they measure you?

who have you become?

you wonder how to move forward

as you are walking

self value you define through validation

if you disappeared,

how long would it take for someone to worry?

how is this measured?

integrity. responsibility. dependability

compassion. charisma. resolve
