Chapter Thirteen
Mistletoe’s Point of View
Mum and dad had gone out to run some errands and stop in to see if Mrs C was ok. Every one had heard that Santa wasn’t doing so good. It's like every day there's more and more news about how badly he’s doing but nothing about him getting better.
Every one was starting to worry. No one knows whats going to happen, our whole entire future was up in the air. It was scary to think about.
Honestly, I tried not to think about it too much, but when your lives literally revolve around it, it's hard not to.
I decided that catching up on my reading might take my mind off it all.
Heading down stairs, I grabbed my current favourite off the shelf and sat down in the big arm chair, getting comfortable, and just switched myself off to the world.
Some one knocking on the front door, jumping me out of my imagination and I set the book down over the arm of the chair and got up. I stole a quick look at the clock, shocked to see that It had been nearly two hours since I sat down to read.
Time really does fly when you get lost in a book!
Walking to the front door, I opened it and was shocked to see Nicky stood there. He smiled, nervously. I stepped to the side and invited him in before closing the door again.
‘Is every thing ok?’ I asked, confused as to why he would be here. He nodded. ‘If you are here to see my dad, He’s out at the minute so-’
‘I’m here to see you’. He cut me off.
‘Ok. So..?’
‘I thought you’d like to know first, I’ve caved and decided to start training’. That surprised me. I was so glad! But I didn’t want to show it, now after the comments, he made last night, So, I wiped all emotion from my face and just ‘’Hmm’’ed and nodded. ‘Look, I owe you an apology. What I said yesterday was completely uncalled for. I’m sorry’.
‘Ok’. I turned my back to him and walked back in to the living room again.
‘Missy, I’m really sorry’. I sat down in the chair and looked up at him. Forcing myself to smile.
‘Ok, thanks for the apology’. He rolled his eyes and sat down on the sofa next to me, Reaching out, He placed his hand on my knee.
‘It's ok if you don’t believe me or don’t want to accept it, but I am, and I’d love to make it up to you’. I raised my eyebrows, My interest was peaked. How? ‘Would you like to go out with me some time?’
‘What like… like a..’
‘A date? Yeah. If you want to?’ I wanted to scream. My stomach instantly filled with butterflies. Hell yeah I wanted too!! Oh my god! Yes, yes, yes!!
‘Yeah, I guess we could’. I tried, and most likely failed, to play it cool. His grin told me instantly that I hadn’t succeeded. I looked away, blushing.
‘Good. You free tomorrow night?’ I thought for a second, I’m sure I was, so I nodded. ‘Great, Shall i pick you up or meet you some where?’
‘Probably best to meet you, Not sure if you’ve noticed, but my dad isn’t the most supportive of... Well, any thing’. He had to stifle his laugh.
‘Yeah, I’ve noticed’. I couldn’t help but smile.
He stayed for a little while after that, and we chatted about random things, my life, his life, but all too soon, He had to leave because mum and dad would be home soon. I walked him to the front door and looked out side, making sure, they weren’t already here.
Luckily, they weren’t any where in sight.
‘Well, I’ll see you tomorrow’. I nodded. He leaned forward and kissed my cheek before he left.
Giggling, I closed the door again and went back to reading until mum and dad got home. I felt so excited and giddy.
I had a date! With Nicky!
Ah!!
