The Lost Mate

Chapter 14: War Part 2

-Third Person Point Of View-

James and Zack look around waiting to see where Tyler and the rest of the warriors are at. Then an object comes flying towards Zack. Catching the object Zack looks and saw it was Tyler. He was barely breathing. James growled looking ahead to see a large wolf taking down the rest of the warriors. Zack's eyes widen, that wolf was Dace, the head commanding warrior for Jones. Growling at him Dace would look over snickering as he snapped the last warrior's neck dropping the body limp. He would walk over his body covered in blood and scars but didn't seem he was out of energy. Zack and James looked at each other then looked at Tyler who was barely hanging on to life. What are they going to do. James walked forward and looked at Zack mind linking with him. 

"Take Tyler back to the campsite, I will hold off Dace the sun will be rising shortly. Let Soul and Bryan know we found Dace." Zack growled not use to a Beta telling him what to do. But he was right. Tyler needs help and James has more strength than Zack. Nodding he took off as Dace went to lung at him James tackled him from the side biting and riping off his hear, Dace howls in pain and growls loudly pissed off. Shoving James off he would snap at him but James was much quicker. Since Dace was so big and bulcky he was slower compared to James. All James has to do is make sure Dace doesn't get a hold of him because that would not end well. 

Zack would carry Tyler over his back as he would run past the wolves battling one another. Seeing the camp hasn't been touched by the enemies Zack would run at full speed to make it there. A few enemy wolves would snap at Zack but the warriors would attack them so that he could get to the campsite. Breathing heavily he walked into the infirmary tent for the nurse to help take care of Tyler. 

Zack caught his breath then was given a message that Tracy and Mike destroyed the campsite they took over and made it where the enemy can not take over that area again. Zack would nod and sigh as he needed to talk to Soul and Bryan. He told the messenger to run to the mansion and deliver the message about Dace and that they will need them for this. With that the messenger took off to deliver the news for Soul and Bryan.

-Back At The Mansion In The Nightmare Moon Pack Territory-

Soul would be holding Iris close to him as he would rub her belly still completely in shock that she is pregnant. Then all of a sudden Bryan comes into the door with his mate Venus. She walks over hugging her sister happy hearing the news that Iris is pregnant. The females talk while Bryan pulls Soul outside the room.

"I'm happy for you," though the words sounded full of concern. Soul would look at him wondering what is going on. "When Venus had our first pup I was excited but nervous because of Jones, even though he doesn't want the pups anymore its still something we can't let him have. He will do anything to take us out. Mercury and Zack lost their pup.. It was a warning sign from Jones.. That's how he captured them. Luckily his Beta Tyler was able to give Venus and I a heads up but they had already gotten her. I have been able to get our pup safe but I just want you to know to be careful." Soul was a little offended by Bryan's words but seeing the pain in his eyes he knew he only meant well. Soul knows he has to take care of Iris and their unborn pup even more now.

While everyone was chatting, a messenger runs up to Bryan and Soul out of breath. "Alpha I have a message from Zack and James.." He looked over at the females and then looked back at his Alpha eyeing him that the females do not need to know about this message. Soul nods, "let's go to my office, Iris you stay here and rest up okay." He would go over and give his mate a kiss before heading to his office with the messenger and Bryan behind him.

-Soul's Point Of View-

I was not liking how this messenger was acting. I understand that my mate doesn't need to hear about this war going on but for to be pulled in a while and in such a hurry. I open the doors to my office as to close them behind me once everyone is in and I go to sit in my chair at my desk. Bryan sits down across from my desk while the messenger stays standing up. I move my hand allowing him to sit down since he seemed to be very tired. 

"So what is you message that you have for us?" Raising an eyebrow looking at the messenger. He took a deep breath. "Beta Tyler is in critical condition. He was faced against the head commanding warrior Dace. Zack brought him back to the campsite for the nurses to work on him. James is still fighting off Dace hoping that when the Sun comes up that they will both retreat. Zack and James need you and Bryan back on the battlefield. They need help capturing Dace to question him to find the Luna's Mother." He was talking so fast it took me a moment to catch up with what he was saying. Looking over at Bryan he seemed upset, I can tell that he is not ready to leave his mate and neither am I but we must do this. Nodding to the messenger. "Thank you, you may leave and get some rest." The messenger would stand up and bow then walk out of the office closing the doors behind him. 

Bryan and I sat in silence until he got up and growled throwing a pillow. "I'm sorry Soul, I just am upset. I finally have my Luna back and I have to leave now to go fight this stupid war." I raised an eyebrow and stood up looking at him. "I know how you feel,  I just got my Luna back who is now pregnant and I have to go to this war. Which is not stupid. It is about time we take down this pack with a twisted leader. This is more than just our selfish needs this is to help other wolves in need that can not leave that pack, that are also suffering from that twisted leader. As an Alpha you should know that a pack comes first then our selfish needs." Bryan would growl at me and I growled back, I am not going to start a fight with him now I need to worry about getting to my Beta and protect my pack which includes my Luna. Bryan stood down and sat down sighing taking in a deep breath. 

"You are right Soul. I let my wolf and my feelings get the best of me. You have it worst since it looked how bad you mate was treated. Venus told me everything that happened to Iris. I was surprised how calm you have been and the fact that she is pregnant now. I have no right to be selfish." I barked at Bryan startling him my eyes dark. "I am beyond pissed Bryan I just keep my composure. If Iris knew how I really felt. If I let my feelings out nothing good will come out of that.I am holding in all my anger for when I get my claws on Jones and Damien I will let it all out. I am not calm Bryan but as an Alpha I do not want others to worry about me, I do not need to show weakness Bryan, and neither should you." I sat down at my desk closing my eyes calming myself and my wolf down and I could tell Bryan was doing the same. "We leave at noon to make sure we get their on time." Bryan nods and we both leave the office to go see our mates who are looking at baby stuff in our bedroom.

-Iris's Point Of View-

As Venus and I looked at magazines with baby stuff I looked over seeing my mate and Bryan walk in, he takes Venus and leaves the room saying goodbye to me. Looking at my mate I can feel sadness in his heart. Standing up I walk over to him and hug him.

"You have to leave don't you?" He didn't say anything. Sighing softly I bary my face into his chest breathing in his scent. "I'm sorry my love but it's an emergency..." Noding softly I look at him. "I understand just promise me you will be safe." Trying to hold back tears he would pull me in close and kiss me deeply. Slowly closing my eyes I feel him embrace me and pick me up as he would lay me in bed with him on top of me our kissing becoming more passionate. Wrapping my arms around his neck pulling him closer to me. He pulls away as we catch our breath a soft smile on his lips. He would get off of me and would snuggle me. 

"I promise to hurry back in time for the pup to be born." I giggle softly, "that won't be for a few months." Then it hit me. He could be gone for a few months. He could be gone the whole time I'm pregnant. Sadness fills my heart and he would pull me closer to him kissing the top of my head. I turn to face him and barry my face into his neck trying to hold back tears.

 "I love you Soul." He smiles and kisses the top of my head again. "I love you too Iris." Then I slowly fell asleep in his arms.

-Third Person Point Of View-

It was almost noon when Bryan would knock on the door waking Soul up. He growled softly seeing his mate fast asleep. He would carefully get out of bed and walk to the door to see Bryan standing in front of him all packed. "It's time to go Soul," Soul sighed and nod as he looked at his mate, grabbing his bag he walked over to his mate kissing the top of her head and whispering in her ear. "I love you my Luna, I promise to return as soon as possible. I will send a messenger whenever I can okay." He kissed her head one last time and went to leave until she grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her as she slammed her lips into his tears running down her cheeks. He would hug her kissing her deeply before pulling away and handing her a ring. It was is Alpha ring that he made for special occasions. Kissing her forehead one last time he let go of her and walked out of the room closing the door leaving Iris alone in the room crying. Venus would then come in to comfort her sister.

Soul growled as they got on to motorcycles since they were faster than cars. He did not like the idea of leaving his mate like this. His wolf growled and protested but as an Alpha he needed to protect his pack so that comes to a price of leaving his mate to go into the war. Bryan and Soul would get on the motorcycles and head towards the campsite before the sun set. 

Zack was in the infirmary after hearing the motorcycles he went out to see Bryan and Soul. "Where is James!?" Demanded Soul, Zack didn't say anything he led them into the tent to show that Tyler was still barely holding on and James was missing a leg and his face was scracthed up that he had an eyepatch over his left eye. Soul was stunned, he growled in anger that this happened to his best friend his Beta. Walking over to James, James did not dare look at his Alpha not wanting to see him like this. "James will you be okay?" James looked at his Alpha a little surprised that he wasn't made how much he lost to Dace. James paused for a second. "Yes I will be fine Alpha but it will be a while until I can go back on battle." Soul would nod and put a hand on his shoulder. "I will have a car come and take you back to the mansion. You and Tyler have done an amazing job now you need to rest just in case we need you again." James would nod as the nurses went back to work. Zack, Bryan, and Soul went into the captains tent to talk about what they need to do next.

"Dace is still at the same campsite James was fighting him in. Tracy and Mike are back after destorying the campsite and we are planning on moving forward after we get that one campsite but with Dace there we can not get to it. He also is bring back reinforcements." Informed Zack, Soul looked at the map seeing where the campsite is at. "I am going there alone. I need to get back at Dace for what he did." Growled Soul, Bryan and Zack looked at him in shock. "Soul we need him alive to get information about the mother and where Jones and Damien will be in the mansion." Soul growled. "I don't give a damn about the information. He can not be alive to get answers out of him. By how James turns out if we turn a blind eye away from him he will take out more of our warriors. This is the price to pay we can get other captives that are weak with some information but Dace is too much of a threat. Tyler and James are strong Betas the fact they got beaten this isn't a good sign. Dace must be killed." Zack and Bryan look at each other thinking about what Soul is saying, both sighing they nod knowing that Dace is a huge threat right now. He can not be alive and thinking about if he would even give out information is a low chance. 

"At moon rise the three of us will go to that campsite and take out Dace."
