Broken Serenade

CHAPTER 6: A Dream

After the job interview of Selene and Serene, they decide to go in a park where there's a lot of food stall. They want to to eat some of their comfort food.

They have a very long tiring day, and they know that they need a little treat for themselves.

"Selene, I want some cotton candy and burger with fries." Serene said almost jumping out of excitement.

"Look at you, you are already a fine and beautiful young lady yet you're still that addicted to cotton candy." Selene said while shaking her head and smiling.

"There's always a child inside of each one of us, Selene." Serene said.

"Yeah yeah yeah. You and your beliefs." Selene added.

They went to some food stall and buy those food that they crave for. Then they came to a vacant seat and table.

"Woah. Those are really great food!. Thank you for this, Selene." Serene said with a wide smile.

"You don't have to thank me, Serene. We both deserve this." Selene said with so much joy.

It's really been while since the last time they had time to enjoy. The past few weeks has been really stressful and shocking. They use to do these with their late father. But now, it's just the two of them.

Selene knew that whether they like it or not, it is what they have and where they are already. They couldn't just give up. They have to stand up and try their best for their dreams now.

Later that night, the twins went to bed earlier than before. They are so tired and worn out.

"Good night, Serene." Selene greeted.

"Good night, Selene. Have a great sleep. Good night!" Serene replied.

"Thank you!"

It took them few minutes and then sleepiness took over.

'Where am I? What is this place?' Selene asked as she look around the place.

It was dark and cold all over the place. No one is there beside her.

Fear crept all over her body. The place is indeed look so empty yet feels like there's someone looking at her.

When she almost run, dim light appear on yhe corner of the street. There are 3 person wearing black hoodies and pants. Selene is facing their back.

All of a sudden, someone shouted. It was a horrifying one. A high pitch voice.

Selene realize that those men in hoodies are cornering someone. A girl to be specific. And because of the fear, tye girl couldn't stop shouting.

"What do you want from me? Leave me alone. I don't have something to give you." The girl shouted.

"It is you who we need. We need you to be our master's bride. You are perfect for him." The guy told the girl.

"I cannot. I am loving someone else already. I don't want him."

"You cannot reject us. We are just informing you but we are not asking your permission. Because whether by hook or by crook, you are going with us." The other guy said.

The girl ran as fast as she could. But she was not able to trick them. The guy who is so much taller than the girl grabbed her arms. When he was able to caught her, He carried her like a sack of rice on his shoulder.

Selene shouted at the back of her head. She wants to help but she doesn't know how.

When she is about to run also, men faces her direction. The way how the man look send shivers on her body. It was really creepy and almost ripping your body too.

When Selene thought the man will grabe her too, they just walked pass her. She realized that it was just her soul whom is present on that place.

When she saw yhe girl's face, tears pooled on her eyes. It was their mom on it's early 20s.

Selene was inside a dream. Or maybe a real setting and happening but from the past...

Suddenly the setting changed. Selene was brought to a place where torch arr the only source of light.

She walked around to see if there is someone who is there.

When she is about to skip the room, she heard the girl's voice or would rather say their mother.

"Please let me go. I cannot be your bride. I love someone else. And I know I could never love you." Their mother plead.

"Selena, I love you. Why can't you see it? I can give everything to you in this world. Just take my hand be mine." The guy said.

"Damon, I can't be with you. Just let me go please. If you really love me, let me be with someone I really love."

"No!" The guy's shout roared all over the place.

"He will never be able to own you. You are mine, Selena. We are going to have a family." He added.

Then everything happened so fast. Selene saw how this man r***d her mother. Selene couldn't do anything but to turn her back because she can't watch it.

She heard how her mother shouted and slowly turned into cries and curses. While her mother sounded like suffering, the guy sounded like he was drown by ecstacy.

Selene realized that if this happened for real, it was their father then.

"You are a demon! I will never forgive even until the very last breath of mine." Their mom said.

'Mom' Selene whispered.

"Selene, my beloved daughter." Selene heard as someone hold her shoulder.

Selene faces her back and she saw that it was their mother.

She hugged her as tight as she could. It was the first hug she received from her mother. And it felt real inside of this dream.

"Mom..." Selene called as she looked up to her mother.

Selene wanted to ask if it is their father. But her lips somewhat became dry and unable to open.

Their mother seems like she was able to read her mind.

"Yes Selene, He is your father. He is not as good as your Dada. I don't think he was ever been good. He is a selfish and evil man." The mother said.

"Is he still alive? Will he go after us?"

"Yes he's still alive but I don't think he knew your whereabouts."

"Mom, i'm scared for me and Serene. I dunno if I will be able to protect her as I am planning. I am too weak to be someone's protector."

"No, Selene. You are the bravest girl I knew. And I believe in you. You will always be able to protect your sister. Me and your Dada will be watching you from a far."

"Mom, I am so scared. Don't go please." Selene plead although she knows that it couldn't be.

"You can do it, sweetie. I'll be just around. You must go back to your sister now. She is calling your name. Always remember that i love the both of you. Until next time." She bid her goodbye and pushes Selene.

Selene suddenly woke up screaming the word, 'Mom'.

"Selene! Thank God you're awake. You are having a nightmare." Serene said.

"Serene, mom showed me how she had us."

"No, Selene it was just a dream."

"All of it was true. I saw our father. He is a bad guy. He r***d mom."

"What?!" Serene shouted.

Selene told her twin everything in her dream. And it made Serene cry.

The both couldn't speak more. She just stare to her sister. Same with Serene.

Pain on their chest suddenly stained,

Their father's figure became more tainted,

Past is being unfolded,

It's been decades but it feels like heavy wounded.

The twins are still in shock but they know that they should be get over it. The past was really tragic but they have to focus on the present.

With a aching heart, Selene stood up and went to Serene who's infront of the windom. She hugged her twin.

"Everything will be alright. Mom told me that she's just around. So let's face the life and be braver and stronger." Selene said.

Serene just nodded and hugged Selene too.

Although they became silent their minds are still are still on big discussion about the dream. They are not sure of what should they do but they are sure that they doesn't want to encounter their father.

A father that should be the foundation of a family, suddenly became the villain and a family wrecker.

No one knows where he is but they don't wish for his appearance.
