Chapter Nineteen

985 Words
We got to Sachman’s Storage and asked the security where 55A was. He looked at us as we turned to walk to 55A. “I’ve never seen you here, not from around here are you?” He asked, loud enough for us to hear. Barry turned back to him and smiled, “Yeah, our uncle left us something and we only found out about it recently”. The Security waved his hands for us to go, “Down there on the left, 55A”. We finally located 55A after almost mixing the place up. The three of us stood in front of the door and Barry stepped forward to unlock the door, “Time to get our answers”. He opened the door, I looked around for a light switch and Leah turned on the flashlight for me to see properly. I found the switch and turned on the light. The place looked a bit normal, just old furniture and a couple of boxes. Nothing out of the ordinary so far, we checked around for a clue of some sort. “These are just normal books. Absolutely nothing here related to demons and the like” Leah said out of frustration as she dropped one of the books. “Just keep looking” I shifted an old bookshelf before continuing, “It’s not like we can expect them to just put a book about demons on a shelf or just about anywhere”. I saw a note on one of the shelves, there was something written on it. There was a key on another shelf. “Hey guys, come see this,” I called Leah and Barry, they checked what was written on the note. “Behind the greatest explorer lies the answer to all secrets”. We looked at it for a while, scratching our heads. “What does that even mean?” I asked out of annoyance. Leah and Barry were deep in thought. Barry looked around, searching for something for a while. “What are you looking around for?” I asked him. He didn’t answer, he just kept searching around. After a few minutes he shouted, “Haha, I found it” He pointed to a Marco Polo painting. “The greatest explorer” He ripped out the painting and there was a keyhole behind it. He put the key in and opened the door, we entered a different room. It was the total opposite of the other room, there were books with stars and eyes drawn on them. “We found our answers” I smiled at Barry and Leah. We checked the books one by one and there were so many things in them, how to conjure up different potions, how to invoke a spirit. “Look at this one, famous people in The Order”, Leah giggled. “That would be interesting, I guess the Illuminati is real then” I laughed as I picked up another book. It was another diary of Uncle Perry. I flipped through the pages and in it was several times he was confronted by my father. He wanted to cast a demon possession spell on my father, but it didn’t work. My father outsmarted him each time. “Come read this” I showed the book to Leah and Barry. There were a few pages missing from the book, which Leah spotted. “A few pages are torn out”. Barry looked at it and noticed, “Yeah you’re right. Someone got to it first then. And I’m guessing those pages are very important as well”. They were both right, we needed to see those pages. “Let’s focus on other things here, for now, we’re taking the books we find useful”. I brought out a bag and put the book in it. We checked around more and discovered more books and a necklace. Barry was checking the corner of the room when he found another key, “Hey look, another key” he waved it to us. “That means there’s another Storage” I suggested and they nodded in agreement. We checked around the place he found the key and we found a note. “You’ve found the first piece, move on to the second piece to know more”. “On to the next storage then” I packed the bag and we locked the room, before locking the first room we entered. On our way back to the parking lot, we were discussing how to go about it. “We can’t go to the second storage today, it’ll look suspicious,” Barry said as he put his to his chin. “I agree, we’ll go tomorrow then,” I said as I held the bag tighter. We passed the security earlier and he smiled at us, “Find what you were looking for?” He asked. “Yes we did, thanks” I answered quickly as we left the building. We got into the car and I dumped the bag at the back as we drove off. “I’m tired, I don’t know about you guys but I need a really cold ice cream now,” Leah said excitedly. “I wouldn’t mind that,” I said and Barry agreed. We stopped at our favorite ice cream spot and got some. We sat down in the car for a while, enjoying our ice cream before driving out of there too. Leah said she had to go home because of her Mom and I agreed. We laughed about how worried her Mom used to get and her rule about going out. I and Barry drove her home before heading home too. “See you tomorrow,” I said as I hugged her. “I’ll be at your place by morning,” She said as she went inside.
