Back inside, I sighed as I finished my cup of juice and washed the dishes. I stood at the foot of the stairs and looked around, I should make something for Carrie to eat when she wakes up. She would definitely have a headache too I should have some Advil ready for that. I walked to the fridge and brought out some eggs and bacon. I wonder what Jenny is doing now, just thinking about her makes me smile. I met her last week at Mama Joe’s. Mama Joe’s is like the best restaurant in town, with great food and great people. She is a waitress there, and her smile had my attention first, then I got to know her as a person and we shared similar interests. We fixed a date for tonight, I can’t wait to see her. The smell of burnt bacon brought me back to the real world, thank God it’s not so bad.
I heard the door upstairs open, Carrie is finally awake. She was dragging her feet on the floor, I laughed at how hungover she was and shouted as soon as she was by the stairs “Well, look who is finally awake”. I stood up and saw her at the top of the stairs, she was hanging on to the stairs for dear life. I was right, after all, a killer hangover. She couldn’t even open her eyes. I already anticipated that though, I’ve had my share of bad hangovers over the years.
After she finished her food, she asked if I wanted to come with her to the market, I don’t meet up with Jenny until later tonight so of course, I’m gonna go with my baby sister. We were almost done shopping, just had to get some vegetables and fruits. We were on our way to the next stall when I noticed something odd. There was someone following us, a middle-aged guy. We turned right to head to the fruit stall and I saw him turn right too, he was following us after all. I turned to look at him and we made eye contact, I looked at him sternly for a few seconds and he immediately ran to the corner of one of the stalls. He was holding a jar in his hands, I guess that was supposed to be his cover, God he sucks at this. What do I do? I have to protect Carrie, she probably doesn’t even know what is happening right now. A million things were going through my mind and I was still thinking about what to do when Carrie turned to me with fear in her eyes. What should I do? First I can’t look worried, that would just make her more afraid. I smiled and told her everything will be fine “Everything will be fine, Carrie, don’t worry” I saw her face relax a bit, thank God it worked.
