Chapter Ten

347 Words
We were about to eat when Mom walked in, “I’m home guys!” I got up from the table and my brother followed behind me. We walked into the living room to see her smiling as she dropped her bag and came to hug us both. “Did anything happen today?” She asked as we walked back to the kitchen, I and Barry looked at each other and chorused No in unison. She glared at us and smiled “Okay, that sounds convincing enough” I knew that was her sarcastic tone so I quickly asked her to sit down so she would eat. “Thank you baby” she sat down as I served her food to her. After we finished eating and cleaning the dishes, we sat down to have our daily recap, it was something we did every night to catch up on each other’s day. My Mom leaned into the table and looked at both of us; “Now tell me what really happened with you guys today?” I sighed and threw my hands up in the air and turned to my brother. He laughed and told her about everything that happened, her mouth hung wide as she listened to what happened. “I knew it, I knew something was wrong when I asked where Carrie was and you hung up. I can’t believe you guys kept me in the dark, we tell each other everything” She crossed her arms and shook her head. “Come on Mom, that’s not how it is. We just didn’t want to make you stressed at work, so we decided to tell you when you were home” I begged and Barry joined in support. She finally gave up “Fine, I understand you, but next time, tell me exactly what is going on. I don’t care where I am, I need to know.” We nodded in agreement, “..by the way, Leah said she’s coming home tomorrow,” I said to both of them as were going upstairs to our rooms.
