Chapter Eight

“Hey Jenny, it’s Barry” I heard her chuckle quietly and say “Hey, I thought you’d never call. Are we still on for tonight?” her voice is so beautiful. I was picturing her smiling and thinking about how beautiful she was when she brought me back to reality “You there?” I answered sharply “Yes! I am, I’m here. I’m sorry for not calling earlier, I was caught up in something, but I just have to check on my little sister and I’ll be on my way” I might have said a lot. “Okay great, I’ll be waiting” She smiled.

I ran to Carrie’s room and saw that she was still asleep, I didn’t want to disturb her but I also didn’t want to leave without letting her know, so I nudged her slightly to wake her up. She yawned and looked at me sleepily, I smiled and whispered “Carrie, I’m going out to meet with Jenny now, will you be okay?” She answered me sleepily “Yes, enjoy yourself”. I was about to go when I remembered what Mom told me, not telling her now will only make her worried when she gets up. “About what happened in the afternoon-” Her eyes lit up immediately and she sat up and looked at me. I continued “I called Mom and she said she heard a guy was arrested in the store, for stalking and chasing several people” She let out a huge sigh of relief as she hugged me, and I smiled when she did. “I didn’t tell her we were at the market when it happened and that he came after us, I didn’t want to tell her that on the phone. We’ll explain to her when she gets home” She nodded her head and I hugged her again before standing up to head out. “Barry” I turned back when I heard her call my name, “Thank You for today, I love you” I smiled as I made for the door “Love you too kiddo”.
