Chapter Three

457 Words
We got to the entrance and my brother collected the bags from Me and moments later, he tapped me and whispered “Run” I bolted out of the door with my brother close behind. The man dropped the jar of pickled eggs he was holding and started chasing us. We got to the car and as soon as we got in I screamed “Drive!!” He stepped on the gas and we drove out quickly. We could not go home immediately because of the fear that we were still being pursued so my brother, Barry, came up with a plan to drive around the next street about four times to make sure we were not followed. “I think we lost him now, let’s go home quick” I managed to say while looking back and sideways just in case. We pulled into the driveway and parked. I ran inside and was about to lock the door behind me when I turned and saw Barry rummaging through the boxes on the porch. “What are you doing, let’s go!” I screamed at him then cautioned myself in fear that whoever was chasing us was close by. He pulled something out of one of the boxes and smiled at me “We need to cover the car with this”. Oh s**t, he was right and I never thought of that. I ran back outside to help him cover the car, then we both ran back in and locked all the doors, and pulled the curtains. I was scared to bits and ran to my bathroom to turn on the shower and let water stream down my head to cool me down. I sat down on the floor and started crying, with my head in my hands. I heard a knock “Come in” I tried to wipe my tears as my brother peaked first before coming to sit down beside me. “How are you feeling now?” He asked with a soothing voice. “I’m okay, a bit better now” He took some wipes from the sink and wiped my face with them. “What was that about, Barry. Who was that?” I’m sure he was feeling bad, if not worse than I was feeling, and he still tried his best to be there for us. “I have no idea, I really don’t know what happened. It all happened so fast and the only thing on my mind was getting out of there and getting you home”. I smiled and hugged him “Thank you. You really are the best brother” That was the last thing I remembered as I fell asleep on his shoulders.
