Chapter 11

1732 Words
Destiny's POV I felt goosebumps trail the surface of my skin as we paused. One would think that with the interruption that had just paused our journey to wherever he was taking me, the guard's grip on my arm would loosen a little. But I couldn't be more wrong. Instead, my eyes watered as he pressed down on my arm, his rough and calloused fingers pressing into my skin. In fact, if he kept up with it, I wouldn't be surprised if the tip of his fingers touched each side of my bones. “Stop.” The voice reached my ear again. It was more closer than the last time and before I could put myself under the pressure of trying to figure out who it was again, the guard spun me around to face the other direction. “Just wait.” “Why?” The guard barked at the person who'd stopped up. It was a man,but since he was masked, I still didn't have a clue as to who he was. “ Who the hell do you think you are to stop me like that? Especially when…” “You're taking my sister away.” The man finished up, cutting the guard off. The moment the words rolled off the stranger's lips, a sense of disappointment washed over me immediately. I had no idea why, but whoever this was, wasn't who I was expecting. A huge part of me was hoping it would be the Alpha who had stopped us. It seemed like he saw and heard me so it was only normal that he would come find me, right? I mentally face palmed myself. How could I allow such an incredulous thought up in my head in the first place? I had not even the faintest idea what he looked like, and I could bet he didn't know half of the number of people under those masks, so why did I think I would stand out to him? His eyes probably widened because he thought I was some psycho and I'd scared him. And maybe also… “Sister?” The guard's gruff voice brought me back to earth again. If I was being honest , he didn't sound like he was buying it one bit. “What do you mean she's your sister?” “She is.” The man chimed in response. “She's my sister and I guarantee you the reason why she reacted like that was because she's drunk.” What? Who the hell did this man think he was? I barely had a flute of champagne and….. “Is that so?” something glinted in the guards eyes as his gaze darted from my face to the man and back to mine again. “Is he your brother then? Do you know him?” I froze. I didn't see this spinning around to face me. Slowly, I dragged my eyes to meet the stranger's face. The mask obscured a good number of the features that I could easily recognize people with, so I had no idea who he was. But there was one thing about him though that happened to stand out; his eyes. I couldn't help but feel like I'd come across them somewhere before. “Yes.” I croaked, somewhat unsure. “Yes, that's my brother.” Something about the way I said it didn't sound convincing enough and my stomach churned at the thought. Was he going to suspect? What if he didn't believe us? If he asked us to prove it, what were we going to do? And how could I prove it when I had no idea who this man was or if he was dangerous or not? “Fine.” I released a breath I didn't know I was holding the moment the guard's grip on my arm loosened. “Make sure not to let her out of your sight again, do you understand? And you young lady, don't drink if you can't handle the alcohol.” And without so much as a last word, he stalked off, leaving me alone to my thoughts. “You!” Another jolt of pain shot up my arm as someone else grabbed my arm again. Shocked, I turned just to find out it was that stranger. “How dare you?!” “Let-let.” I stuttered in pain. “Let me go! You're hurting me…” “I'll do so when I've handed you over to Fredrick himself.” He seethed and I paled. A chilly cold raced down my spine. Anxiety nipped at my skin as my stomach churned in fear. “Then he'll do whatever he seems fit to you.” No. Not Fredrick. Anyone but Fredrick.. “Please.” I whimpered. “Please, I beg you.” All of my pleas fell on deaf ears as he pulled me towards the exit. No matter how hard I tried to stand my ground, I just couldn't stand his pull. My eyes roamed the party. Literally, no one had turned to my direction. Everyone looked to be too engrossed in their conversations or drunk shitless. “Please….” The rest of my words died on my throat as he pushed me out the front door. Cold air rushed at me immediately, nipping at the surface of my skin. Before I had the chance to get a glance at the place, another pair or rough hands seized me by the wrists. “You!” I froze at his voice. Even with his mask still on his face, I knew who it was and I trembled. “You little punk!” “I…” I mumbled. My throat felt parched as I suddenly lost my ability to form words. I parted my lips to speak, but shut them the moment I realized I couldn't form any more words. “You see, I…” “Silence!” He yelled again and I flinched. I yelped as his fingers dug into my skin. The pain was sharp and brutal, I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with bruises after he was done with me. “ Shut up! Shut up! I know what to do with you.” For the third time in the last couple of minutes, he hurled me around, pushing me towards the direction of the main entrance to the party. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead as we passed the beautiful golden gates of the golden Mansion. With each step we took away from the place, I couldn't help but think about what my fate would be. Death? Would tonight finally be the night when he would end my life? Or perhaps he was going to torture me until I …. The sound of tires screeching pushed me back to the present. I blinked, just to come face to face with a black vehicle just in front of me. I'd barely had enough time admire the car, when the back door swung open, almost hitting me square in the jaw. “Get in.” It was more if a command than anything else and as quickly as my feet could carry me, I did as I was told. No sooner had I settled into the car, did it drive off, with Fredrick at the passenger side. From the mirror that was hung up on the car, I caught Fredrick's gaze. His stoic expression screamed bloody murder at me and I knew nothing good was going to come out from tonight. If anything, my prayer right now was for some kind of unforeseen circumstances to change Fredrick's plans, or else…. The tires of the car skidded along the road, causing the scenery outside to whiz by in a flash. Although I was in trouble, a tiny part of me wanted to know where we were headed so desperately. My curiosity slowly gave way into more fear as we headed into the direction of the forest. Yes, the same forest where that woman had saved me the other night. My heart jumped to my throat as we stopped just at the entrance. Without any warning, I watched as Fredrick jumped out of the passenger seat, just before coming towards me. The driver had barely turned off the ignition when he pulled me out of the car. “Please.” I pleaded, but it was of no use. “Please, have mercy…” “Silence!” Fredrick's voice roared as we trudged through the night. Birds flew away at our presence, as if sensing the impending doom I was in. The moon shone bright in the night sky, illuminating my path. I couldn't tell the reason why, but my skin tingled as we walked underneath the moon's warm glow. Twigs and branches snapped under our feet, some of them slapping me across the face and digging into my feet. A yelp slid past my lips as the hem of my dress caught in between some bushes. “Please, I'm begging you.” The loud sound of my dress being ripped into two cut me off as Fredrick pulled me again, harder than the last time. “ I swear, I won't do it again.” It was quite an ironical promise, because I had no idea what I'd done in the first place. All I did was grab a flute of champagne and…. I paused when I realized we had gotten to the clearing. Memories of my last visit flared up in my mind and I shuddered. Whatever Fredrick was planning, I hoped it didn't involve that old woman's glowing white eyes. “Zora!” Fredrick banged loudly against the front door. “Zora! Open up!” So her name was Zora.. Amidst the loud knocks, a peculiar thought hopped into my mind. How was Fredrick's grip on me still tight as he banged on the door. “Come in.” Zora drawled, a bored hint to her tone, and the moment her voice filtered out into the night, Fredrick pushed the door open. “I swear I'm going to kill her, right now!” Fredrick announced as he pushed me into the living room. I paled, but nothing prepared me for what I saw next. I held my breath as Fredrick pulled out a dagger from his pocket, before pushing up to a pulse point on my neck. “She dies, tonight!”
