Lexi's POV
I could hear my heart pounding in my ears. How did I make the mistake of blurting out Nick's name? I slowly removed my hands from my face. He looked befuddled. His phone suddenly rang but he didn't take his gaze away from mine.
"Won't you answer it?" I asked in a much calmer tone.
"It can wait. I want to hear what you have to say," he replied. The ringing stopped but it continued again.
"Answer it. It could be important," I urged. He glanced at it and picked it up. He listened to the person at the other end of the line for a while.
"Got it," he muttered before hanging up.
