I stand frozen to my spot. I feel my blood run cold in fear as I stare at the figure slowly saunter toward me. Ben isn’t wearing a suit, but instead a white polo shirt with jeans and what I make out to be loafers. This could only mean he hasn’t been at work. His face twisted with anger as he comes closer to me, my eyes dart from him to the opened door behind him and then back to him. Could I make it? My brain tells my body to make a run for it but it’s unresponsive. s**t. Ben comes to stand in front of me, looking me over from my head to my feet, then making sure to look me in the eye. He raises his hand and tries to brush my hair away but I turn away before he can make contact. His eyes darken with anger and my breath hitches as I come to terms with the idea of no escape from this situation. He withdraws his hand and suddenly it’s difficult to breathe.
“Where have you been?” He says without blinking, in a demanding tone. My hesitation to answer angers him even more, lines appear across his forehead as he narrows his eyes at me and flares his nostrils as he huffs in frustration. He looks to the floor and then quickly back to me.
“I said.. where the f**k have you been Elise!” He shouts, making me jump back in fright. Ben visibly seems to attempt to calm himself down before taking a step toward me. When my eyes meet his, his face seemingly turns up in disgust at the sight of me.
“I’ve been looking for you” he says more calmly but anger still evident in his voice. He glances at my packed bags and then back to me, releasing a menacing chuckle, which turns into a laugh. What in the hell?
“And where do you think you’re going?” He asks while trying to get rid of any excess laughing he hadn’t let out.
“You can’t leave me Elise..” his demanding tone now returned and all the laughter gone.
“..let’s just forget about all this and move on” he grabs my wrist tightly and attempts to pull my hand from holding the suitcase handle in my grasp but I quickly pull my hand away from his clutches. Ben stands with a surprised look on his face by my action.
“No..” I mutter as I am finally able to speak. Ben attempts to grab my hand again but I move it out of his reach.
“I said no” my voice more clear to him as I stand my ground. Ben stands with a dumbfounded look on his face. I grab the suitcases and walk past him toward the door. He grabs onto my arm from behind violently, forcing me to turn around to face him. I see his raised hand is coming down to issue me a blow, I close my eyes awaiting his attack when suddenly..
“She said no..” Russell’s voice echoes throughout the room. My eyes dart open to see Ben’s hand frozen in midair. I watch his eyes dart to the door behind me and then back to me. His hand falls to his side but the anger boils in his face.
“And who the f**k are you?” Ben spits the words from his mouth as he steps past me towards Russell’s direction. This can’t be happening. I swing toward their direction, Ben comes to stand in front of Russell and takes a challenging stance. Russell towers over him effortlessly and stands looking indifferently to the other man in front of him; his hands are buried in his pockets as usual. His unbothered demeanor ticks Ben off even more. The tension in the room is suffocating.
“I said.. who..” Ben begins to speak but Russell quickly cuts him off.
“I think it’s best you leave” his voice silences Ben and echoes throughout the room once again. He gives Ben a cold stare as if to say he won’t be repeating himself. After a few moments of exchanging death stares, Ben takes a step back reluctantly; a sickening smirk appears across his face as his thumb and forefinger trail his mouth to rest on his chin. He walks slowly toward the door, turning towards me before making an exit, he locks eyes with me and I see a familiar look in his eyes that said, This isn’t over. Ben leaves but I still feel shaken to my core. Russell finally turns toward me. He takes a deep breath as he seems to be displaying restraint.
“Let’s go” he says calmly but the cold look still evident in his eyes. He walks toward me and grabs the suitcases; I wait for him to say something but I’m met with deafening silence. He walks through the door and I am left to follow behind him like a hurt puppy. I hated this feeling.
The drive back to the new apartment is also filled with silence. The small glances I give to him seem to go unnoticed. It’s hard to read his emotions as he maintains a blank and emotionless expression. When we finally reach the apartment, Russell takes the bags to the bedroom and I slowly follow behind him. He rests them down beside the bed and turns toward my direction in the corner of the room. He stands glaring at me for a moment and I catch a glimpse of emotion in his eyes, which he quickly hides away.
“Are you okay?” His voice with a hint of concern.
“I’m okay.. are you?” I maintain his gaze. He seems hesitant to answer and remains still as if battling himself. Russell starts walking toward me and I find myself taking steps back as I watch this daunting man approach me. My back thuds against the wall as he comes to eliminate any space between us. His breath brushes against my face making my heart race inside my chest. I can now clearly see restraint in his eyes.
“If he touches you.. ever again.. I will hurt him.. badly” he utters these words in a whisper and his eyes never once leave mine, I knew he meant it. The words sink into my skin and his hand brushes my hair behind my ear. I watch as his eyes dart to my lips and his tongue darts out of his mouth to moisten his lips. He fists his hand into my hair pulling me into a kiss, I feel the heat pool in my belly instantly. He leaves no room for air as he presses his lips against mine. His hand snakes up my shirt and rests on my waist, holding me in place, as he kisses me possessively. I feel his fingernails press into my skin, making me groan against his lips. Russell buckles his hips toward me. I instantly feel his member against my stomach making me gasp at the contact. He lifts me, wrapping my legs around his waist, keeping my back pressed against the wall. He bites and pulls my lip whilst his hands dive under my shirt to capture my breasts, making me moan and throw my head back as he clasps my hardened n*****s between his fingers. My hips grind against him on their own accord. I wanted him, and I wanted him now. Russell breaks our kiss and stays still, glaring at me. The only sound that can be heard is our heavy breathing from what was taking place. His eyes are swirling with emotions. Why did he stop? He lets me down gently, still pressing himself against me. His hand rests on my face with his thumb grazing my cheek.
“What are you doing to me?” His voice husky with arousal. I feel his member pulse against me. I look downward to its direction and back to his eyes seductively as he watches on. I lean in for him to kiss me but he places both his hands on either side of my face to stop me. He peers into my eyes whilst I try my hardest to read his mind.
“Not tonight..” he says, placing a soft kiss on my lips. I’m certain the disappointment shows on my face as I release a deep sigh.
“I’ll have dinner sent over for you.. I will see you tomorrow” Russell places another kiss on my lips and leaves in what seems like a hurry. Why would he leave? I stand going over the last few moments trying to figure out what could’ve possibly prompted him to do so but it’s useless, he’s impossible to read or is it that he simply doesn’t want me, I sigh at my helpless situation.
