The stubborn Luna

I took a deep breath letting out a yawn as I slowly sat up in my bed, my hands coming up to rub over my face as my eyes finally opened, there was a few strands of light peaking through my blinds which told me one thing, “f**k I overslept” I whisper yelled throwing the blankets off of my body, the cold hardwood floor against my bare feet was a quick wake up call as I quickly bounded towards the bathroom. I scrambled yanking on a tank top while trying to brush my teeth, and mange my mane of a hair style, glancing at my reflection I didn’t look as bad as I normally did, my bright red hair was curly and reached my lower back, freckles appeared across my nose and cheeks, and I was lucky to have my mothers bright blue eyes. I threw on some deodorant and perfume before jumping slightly hearing my bedroom door open “wow you’re actually out of bed, I thought I would have to come pull you out like last time.” My best friend Tifani called, my lips curled into a smile as I put my toothbrush away and walked out glancing at her, she looked more like my parents then I did, with long brown hair and light brown eyes, she was a solid 10/10 and my best friend since our first words practically. “Gotta be quicker then that tif, you’re losing your touch.” I beamed back making her laugh “says the one with toothpaste under her lip, proving you just woke up.” She replied flashing a toothy smile, I rolled my eyes pulling on my blue Jean shorts, “so are you ready for the first day of training the new pups?” She asked laying back with her head on my pillow, I nodded sitting on the edge of the bed pulling my shoes on before standing back up “definitely, if this group is anything like the last it’ll be a piece of cake!” I said before smacking her foot, “come on you’ll make us late” I teased getting a playful growl out of her as we both walked downstairs and into the living room where my mom was getting ready, “and here I thought you two just went back to bed.” She said with a small breath, mom never liked that I was a fighter, but I knew I had her support regardless, “if it was up to Molly we would have.” Tifani replied making my mom laugh “no surprise she took after her father and can sleep like a bear.” Mom replied making me roll my eyes. My mother was beautiful, on the shorter side at 5’0” with brown shoulder length hair, tanned skin and light blue eyes, most people would think they were colored contacts the way popped against her skin tone was mesmerizing. “I heard that.” A deep voice called from behind her I smirked as my father came into view he towered over my mom at 6’2” with dark blond shaggy hair and bright brown eyes, he was pretty well built and always well dressed in a nice button up shirt and slacks, he was the right hand man to the alpha after all. I looked over my shoulder as I walked towards the kitchen watching his arms wrap around my moms waste from behind, she let out a small hum her eyes closing as she relaxed against him, his lips pressing against her cheek. I let out a gagging sound making tifani laugh “oh come on you’ll find your mate soon enough and then you’ll understand what’s it’s like.” My mother called out “pass, I don’t want a mate, I don’t need one.” I said taking a bite of an apple with a shrug of my shoulders. We can find our mate at 16 and I’m almost 20, I’m aware my mate isn’t in this pack and I refuse to leave because of a stupid bond. “Come on how do you not want to find your mate?” Tifani said leaning against the counter beside me, I glanced at her before looking back at my parents, they did seem the happiest when they were together but I didn’t want to give up my life just so I could be tied to someone. “Come on you two are going to be late.” My dad finally called walking out the front door, tifani and I both quickly hugged my mom before jogging after my dad, he was the first to shift into his wolf, his fur was the same coloring of his hair with darker eyes to match, tifani went next when her wolf a little smaller then his, her fur was a while with a few light gray patches randomly placed around her body. Finally it was my turn, my wolf was solid black, with a little white around my muzzle and my eyes almost as red as my hair in human form, we all looked back at my mom who shook her head “we have a car you know.” She mocked walking towards the car, my dad let out a small huff before darting into the forest, tifani and I right behind him, nipping at eachothers feet and bounding between the trees like care free pups. Being upper ranked our wolves could handle shifting without us having to strip down, which wouldn’t be a big deal, nudity was fine in our kind, now we didn’t go around naked everywhere but we all knew what bodies looked like and it wasn’t a big deal to see someone’s ass. My dad slowed to a walk watching a group of kids running around playing, I loved kids, they seemed to have a effect on me, and even if I was training the only ones allowed to be hard on the kids were tifani and I, otherwise it was like a instinct to protect them. My father let out a low growl making their eyes snap to us and their bodies freeze before all lowering their heads. A sign of respect for their beta, my ears went flat as I looked at his wolf, who met my unamused eyes and let out a huff, the three of us shifted back and walked towards the kids. “You are on the path of becoming the next pack Warriors, you’ll learn to fight with the best, and fight with the passion that will lead each battle you join a victory for you, work hard, push your bodies, and remember.-“ my dads voice carried before his arm quickly reached for me, barely grabbing my shirt and pulling me towards his fist which I barely squirmed from, sliding my body down and taking him down by lightly kicking the back of his knee, “never hesitate to take down someone if they threaten your and the packs safety first.” I continued flashing a small glancing at my dad before offering him a hand up, “I hate when you do that.” He mutter making me laugh “alright pick your partner, someone close to your size and do what miss Tif and I do.” I called out nudging tif before walking towards the ground, I gave my dad a small nod, he offered a smile with a wave before walking up towards the pack house, which was more like a mansion, there was roughly 350 in our pack and while we weren’t big we were strong and other packs knew that. The day went pretty quick, a few skinned knees, accidental bloody noses from kids taking it to far, and a lot of our of breath tired faces by the end. “I think for a first day you already broke half of them.” Tif whispered in my ear making me smile, I glanced around my eye catching a little blond girl who looked tired but ready. “Alright give me two laps and then we’ll be done.” I called getting a few groans in response but slowly they all got back up I was walking towards the track when a small hand slipped in mine “can I run with you?” I quiet voice asked making me look down, my brows pushed together in confusion, only to be met with a pair of blue eyes looking up with a sparkle in them “you know what, let’s see what you got.” I said giving her hand a small squeeze before breaking into a jog, she giggle running after me. Tif hung towards the back pushing the stranglers to keep up, after another 20 minutes we were finally all done and I was happily chatting with the small girl from before “teachers pet.” A boy snapped walking past her , her smile quickly faded and I could tell she didn’t quiet fit in with the others, which was the way I was at her age, I took a breath and reached out and grab the back of his shirt “ one thing we won’t do is bully other pack mates, for something as simple as talking to a teacher you are a team, and will continue to work like a team.” I said quietly locking my eyes with his, he quickly nodded “yes ma’am.” He said softly making me let go “you’re dismissed, I’ll see you all out here same time tomorrow, make sure you stretch you’ll be sore.” Tifani yelled, we watched them walk towards the pack house running and playing like pups again, the small blond turned around flashing us a grin with a wave, both tifani and I happily returned “cute kid.” She said with a laugh making me nod “hungry?” She asked after a few seconds making me look at her, she rolled her eyes “of course you are, you always are. Come on.” She said linking her arm in mine as we walked towards the house, we were both dirty and covered in grass strains but it was weird if we weren’t. I took a small breath enjoying the cold air that hit my body as we stepped inside “you two can’t go one day without making a mess can you?” A man’s voice called from the kitchen making us both laugh as we walked closer “that’s not our style.” Tif replied wrapping her arms around the torso of a shorter but well built man, he smiled kissing the top of her head giving me the opportunity to snatch the sandwich that was on his plate and quickly take a bite “that was mine!” Logan snapped reaching for me, making me jog a few steps away with a grin “excatly past tense, it’s mine now.” I teased taking another bite “it’s okay honey I’ll make you other tifani said rubbing his arm “you know as your future alpha I could command you to give it back.” He said with an amused smile, I arched an eyebrow setting the plate down with a challenging grin “I would love to see you try.” I beamed back getting a playful growl in response I sprinted to the door and he was right behind me, we both shifted mid sprint and our wolves quickly crashed into eachother, going back and forth with take downs and playful snapping of jaws without making much contact “Molly so help me if you hurt my mate I’ll hurt yours when you find him.” Tifani called out, I rolled my eyes before going back to focusing on Logan, yes Logan was the alphas son, next in line for leader of the pack, one of my best friends and tifanis fated mate. It was like some gross love story that made me want to throw up, but I know that she seems to have a glow around her when she’s with him “yes Luna.” I sent mockingly through our mind link making her huff, she’s never wanted to be called that, she was a warrior just like me. after about half an hour Logan and I called it a truce for now at least, and walked back up covered in even more dirt then before “what are we going to do with you?” Logan asked looking at me before taking a seat on the porch swing next to tif who snuggled into him, her nose scrunching slightly “worry about yourself, you smell like a stray dog.” She teased patting his leg, I let out a laugh, I knew she would always have my back, “I swear sometimes I think you two are mates.” He grumbled before getting up and walking back inside. Tifani leaned forward getting my attention “on a serious note, have you thought about traveling outside of the pack?” She asked catching me off gaurd for a second, “you know how I feel about that, I’m not leaving for a man.” I muttered picking at my nails the way I always did when I was uncomfortable, she smirked “Molly you deserve happiness too.” She replied making me let out a sigh “I am, I’m happy being on my own and a warrior for the pack, I’m happy watching you and Logan grown up, I’ll be happy to continue training the kids, this is my happy place, and I don’t want that to change.” I replied, she hesitated for a few seconds before simply nodding “fine I won’t push anymore.” She replied before getting up and walking back into the house, leaving me to enjoy the feeling of the sun against my skin.
