Unwanted guest

The rest of the day went off without a hitch, at least it was the usually routine I was used to, ending with dinner with my parents before showering and heading to bed. Part of me did wonder what it would be like to have a mate, to feel the pull to someone else, did I even have one out there? Would they reject me? I let out a sigh, tossing and turning throughout the night, I finally gave up on sleep at about 4am, I decided to surprise my parents for once and make them breakfast, by the time the sun was up food was on the table, and I was out the door, I figured I could do some running before training just to stretch my muscles and hopefully wake my body up, I pulled my hair into a high bun and began my jog through the forest. Half way through my eyes glazed over “the alpha has requested you and I in his office.” My fathers voice echoed in my head “I’ll meet you there.” I replied before shifting and running towards the pack house, my father and the alpha looked alike, my father has a little more grey in his hair but they could have been brothers if you didn’t know them. I shifted back meeting my father in the living room before going up a few flights of stairs and stopping at a large black door with a good trim, before we could even knock the door opened “there’s my two favorite people.” Jason beamed making my father and I look at eachother “what did I do?” I asked squinting slightly “nothing, it’s what you will do.” He replied with a laugh making my head tilt slightly as he motioned us inside “what’s going on Jason?” My father asked sitting at the desk, as I sat on the couch “well it’s a little last minute but we’ll be having a few visitors coming into the territory within the next few days, alpha Ryland is hosting his annual party and heard about our security.” He replied making my arms cross my chest, “come on molls don’t give me that look.” Jason said quickly with a faded smile “he’s not looking to host here, just asking for some extra hands for the event and then you can come back, it won’t be for more then a few days.” He added making me arch an eyebrow, my father looked at me with an ‘I dare you to say no right now’ look and my nose scrunched for a second, “it would be my honor to great them at the border, and welcome them to the pack.” I finally said putting my head back the alpha grinned clapping his hands together “perfect, he’ll be here late tonight, make sure your team is ready to roll, Ryland said he’ll only need a handful so you’ll show him how you work and he’ll select which ones to take.” Jason added making my nod before standing up my head bowing slightly “yes alpha.” I replied glancing at my dad before walking towards the door “your kid is a fiesty one.” Jason whispered making my dad laugh “I heard that.” I called once the door closed. I mindlinked my team, along with tif to fill them in,

the day was pretty easy going and by nightfall we were all in wolf form standing on the edge of the border tucked between the trees, there was about 70 warriors in all, we were the ones that would sprint head first into the action if something went wrong, some older then me, some my age, and the handful I’ve trained, tifani always stood right beside me, we were partners no one could face. A pair of headlights poked through the trees, the sounds of tires against the dirt road was getting closer “that would be them, remember be on gaurd.” My voice carried through the link, a few of us moved into view letting out a few low growls as the cars slowed letting us walk beside them. A faint new scent of honey and vanilla reached my nose, the hackles on the back of my neck raised in defense as I glanced back towards the third car, tifani stopped pressing her nose against my cheek pulling me back to reality. “Is everything okay?” She asked through the link as we started walking again “I have a weird feeling, something is off.” I sent back, her body changed from relaxed to defensive just like mine and she stayed right beside me the entire walk. I couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, and I know we were being watched but this felt different, I kept finding myself wanting to look back at that car. Half an hour later we reached the house where Jason and Logan were standing beside eachother, Logan held his hand out for tifani and she quickly shifted back taking her place beside him, I stayed in my wolf form beside Jason and his Luna Kari, the rest of the team spacing out a little but still staying alert.

One by one people got out of the car, there was a group of about 25 people in all, they all looked…official I suppose would be the best word, suits, styled hair and a lot of new smells my wolf didn’t like. A low growl settled in my throat as my ears went flat against my head “it’s okay, I promise this will be quick.” The Luna spoke softly her hand reaching out to rub between my ears, a soft spot for my wolf, I let out a small breath trying to relax a little more, and that’s when it happened, the smell that was faint before was now as strong as could be, and I was hooked on it, a little sweet for my taste but it also had a faint hint of pine. My eyes darted to the source and landed on a pair of hazel eyes staring back at me. Tingles rushed through my body and I felt like a deer in headlights, as the men walked closer the smell got stronger, and my heart was racing, I didn’t even notice alpha Jason was talking to them until I heard my name, I shifted back rolling my shoulders “this is my head warrior Molly, I’m sure she’ll be happy to show you your rooms, and at your request she’ll have her team ready for you in the morning.” Jason said making my lips curl into a forced smile “Molly this is Ryan, Richard, Alex, Michael, and Alpha Ryland.” As Jason went down the list I happily shook each of their hands, and offered a slight head bow, a sign of Mutual respect, I drew a breath, and my jaw clenched as my hand slipped into Rylands, tingles shot through my body and my heart once against started to race “it’s a pleasure.” He said quietly bringing my hand to his lips, I blinked a few times before slowly pulling away, his eyes were dark and I knew his wolf must be close to the surface. “The pleasure is all mine alpha Ryland.” I finally spoke my cheeks turning pink “if you and your men don’t mind I would love to show you what floor you will all be staying on.” I added clearing my throat once he nodded, I turned on my heels letting out a small breath, he was stunning, black brushed back hair, that was shaved short on the sides, a strong jawline, a dimple on his right cheek and a smile that could make anyone weak in the knees. Wait…what am I saying? I shook my head slightly before relazing Ryland has appeared beside me “a warrior?” He asked catching me slightly off guard “I’m sorry sir?” I asked softly glancing up at him “I heard stories about the great warrior in this pack, that’s you?” He asked catching my eyes, I offered a forced faded smile “that would be me, trained since I could walk.” I replied, having him so close is making my wolf act so strange ‘mate mate mate mate, isn’t he cute, I wonder if his muscles look better without the clothes, hey what do you think he’ll be like in bed? Do you think he’ll have a big-‘ I quickly shut the link between Zora and I, Zora was a strong wolf, independent I wasn’t sure why she was acting like this, and it wasn’t helping. “Molly?” Rylands voice rang in my ears making my head snap towards him “yes alpha? Sorry I was thinking” He chuckled shaking his head, “enough with the alpha, it’s just Ryland, or Ry if you prefer, I just asked what time would work best for you tomorrow.” He spoke sending a chill down my spine, I realized we reached the floor and we were the only two in the hall I wasn’t sure when we reached here or how long I was just standing before he spoke my name, the thought made my cheeks turn pink, I was supposed to be paying attention and yet here I was in a different world, “as early as you would like.” I spoke softly, he nodded in response, “I prefer a little sleep, and a good breakfast, will you be joining me?” He asked opening his bedroom door, I bit my bottom lip glancing between Him and the room “joining you?” I asked almost like a question ‘yes!’ Zora screamed “no sir, I should get home.” I replied, he let out a laugh “for breakfast, will you be joining me for breakfast Molly.” He replied making my cheek feel even hotter, “yes sir I’ll be there.” I finally spoke after a few seconds “good, I’ll see you in the morning.” He called before the sound of his door closing hit my ears. I turned back going down the stairs where tifani and Logan were waiting, I didn’t think twice about going into tifanis arms, my eyes closing “whoa hey what happened?” She asked quietly quickly hugging me back “tif…I found my mate.” I said making her pull away quickly.
