Chosen mate or chosen path

I opened my eyes to be greeted by the sun rays poking through the leafs, they bounced slightly with a warm summer breeze and birds chirping could be heard from almost every direction. I didn’t remember falling asleep at all but I felt well rested and ready to start the day, I took a small breath hope my mind link back up before getting back to my feet, and that’s when it hit me ‘Where are you?!’ Tiffani snapped with worry in her voice ‘I’m fine I just have fallen asleep out here, I’ll be back soon’ I replied feeling a little guilty about the mind link being closed, I made my way back into the woods, my back did hurt a little but it wasn’t something a shower couldn’t fix. It only took a few minutes to reach the training area where tifani was already waiting with a cup of coffee in her hand, I stopped beside her with a smile “thank you.” I said as she handed it to me “you look awful.” She teased still a little upset with me, I let out a small laugh before letting out a whistle getting the group’s attention, “who here can shift?” I called, most of their hands shot up, all except for the blond little girl who looked either embarrassed, or maybe she looked scared it was hard to tell, “go ahead and take your forms, we’re leaning to fight in both forms, you need to be comfortable and confident in both.” Tifani called out after me “why is she even here, she’s a wolf less freak.” Some other girl snapped glaring at the blond one, keep in mind these kids are no older then 12 and I could tell neither tif or I were amused “hey butt sniffer, how about you worry about yourself and your training instead of spending your time eating candy, your wolf can’t be the one to pull all the weight you’re entire life.” Tif snapped back quickly which seemed to shut the kid up pretty quickly, making me smirk they all seemed to shift paring up with their partners, I shifted walking over to the girl, taking a playful stance, she gave a small nod taking a defensive stance across from me ‘just dodge what I do, or even counter and you will be just fine’ I said calmly to her through the link and she nodded quickly ‘yes ma’am’ she responded, making my head tilt slightly so she had her wolf she just hasn’t shifted yet, it wasn’t a bad thing my wolf was a little late to the party too, it would only be a matter of time, for the most part she handled herself pretty good, I could pick at the way anyone fights if I tried hard enough, myself included. After another good training day tifani and I agreed a walk down to the river, we turned walking towards the trees when that stupid intoxicating scent filled my nose “molly!” My ears flicked hearing his deep voice and Zora slowly turned her head to look at him, his eyes were moving over our body and his eyes went from hazel to a darker shade, although I couldn’t quiet tell the color from the distance. Zora wanted to go to him, to finally meet the other half of our mate but I was too proud. “I was hoping to steal you for a little if it’s okay.” He said tucking his hands in his pocket, how was a simple stance enough to make him look even more attractive, Zora turned taking a few steps towards him, until he flashed that stupid cocky smile, my ears went back and flat against my head with a low growl before I convinced her to turn back and trot into the woods. Tifani looked between us a few times before darting to catch up with me ‘are we going to talk about that?’ She asked through the link making me glance at her ‘nope’ I replied before moving faster, it was a race to the river and it was always a close call between the two of us. A few hours went by and it was fun to just be floating carefree in the water, tifani was already sunbathing but with my skin tone I was going to burn within minutes. I was on my back in human form, my eyes closed letting the current carry me a few feet when tifani darted up and already shifted, I was only a few feet behind her, how did we not notice something like this until now? ‘Alpha get the kids and woman down into the cellar, have my team to the south side of the boarder.’ I snapped letting my legs move as quickly as they could, ‘what why? Molly what’s going on’ he asked back quickly, I felt bad hearing the panic in his voice, he was a strong man but the single word I was about to say was enough to send any pack into a panic. ‘Rouges.’ I replied finally catching up to Tif, She should have gone back to the house, as future Luna she needed to worry about the future and not fighting beside us anymore, Logan and the pack needed her, almost as if she could read my mind she snapped her teeth inches away from me. I let out a growl in disapproval but deep down I knew that she was just like me, too stubborn to worry about herself. Rouges we’re pack less monsters if you asked me, taking what they wanted from any pack they could sneak into and had no problem killing someone’s if they got in their way, there had to be at least 30 which was insane since they usually only worked in groups of 10 and that’s considered high. ‘They’re closing in on the pack house’ tifani snapped making us turn into a sharp left, the closer we got the more I could hear the sounds of combat, snarls, yelps, bodies smacking into eachother but no blood smell yet, the scene felt unreal, our pack was actually holding their own, we both looked around before glancing at eachother and darting in opposite directions, soon I was in the middle of the fight, and that’s when the blood shed started, lifeless bodies started to drop to the ground. It was taking longer then I wanted and that when I heard it, a child’s scream and my eyes locked onto my new small friend who was trying to run from a skinny wolf, I didn’t think twice about running to her. ‘Drop, hit the ground curl up and don’t move’ I snapped through the link to her and without hesitation or doubt she did, curling into a tight ball that I was quickly able to position myself over, and it was back to war. I tried my best to mind my paw placement, if I actually stepped on her it would be enough to break a bone, the grey wolf and I quickly sized each other up and in a flash we were ripping at each other, letting our jaws latch onto whatever we could. I let out a yelp feeling another set of teeth on my back leg and glanced back, two against one was cheep but I wouldn’t go down unless I was dying, I kicked back with my other leg, trying to focus on the bigger of the two while keeping my kid safe that’s when I thought of it, I quickly laid down shielding her completely, without letting all of my weight rest on top of her, it left me open to plenty more bites from the other two but I wouldn’t let a poor kid die. I landed a few more good bites on my end but this was a losing battle, I had more wounds now then all of the other battles combined, I had to think of anything else. That’s when it happened 20 more wolfs all sprinted towards us, a light brown one quickly rushed towards me helping fight off the other two before taking to my side, he was larger then me both in height and weight, a skilled fighter and between the two of us no one dared to come near me, it took an hour and somewhere in that time the brown wolf and I got separated but it was finally over, I let out a shakey breath, slowly standing back up, and looked under me to a tear streaked bright eyes little girl looking up at me covered in blood, my heart sank as a shifted into my human form quickly dropping in front of her “honey where are you hurt, how bad is it?” I asked quickly frantically searching over her body, she finally let out another sob wrapping her small arms around my neck “it’s not mine, you’re hurt please done be hurt, I didn’t mean to make you bleed I just wanted to help.” She cried harder making me look down, she was right I was bleeding pretty badly but I didn’t notice until now, “hey hey it’s okay little one I’m okay it’s just a few scratches and most of it isn’t mine I’m okay.” I said slowly picking her up in my arms as I got to my feet “keep your eyes closed and don’t open them okay?” I spoke quietly, the surrounding area was almost silent, I felt the little girl push her face into my neck, I let out a small breath, the last thing she needed to see was anymore people hurt or even dead, I clenched my jaw and started to walk back towards the house where more people were slowly starting to appear. “Please my baby, where’s Aurora?” I voice with panic filled the air, “I can’t find her she wasn’t in the cellar with me, please!” She called out again pushing through a few people staring at the bodies before her, a mothers worse nightmare would be finding their kid out here. “I have her miss smith.” I called back recognizing the woman from one of our nurses at the hospital and one of my mothers close friends, how did I not know she had a daughter.” My eyes closed as I caught my breath, once the view was behind us I set the little girl down and pointed towards her mom who was running towards us, and in a flash the girl was back in the safest place possible. “My little girl, oh honey are you hurt?” She cried studying her child who shook her head “I’m okay momma it’s not my blood.” She said back with a smile, she was a cute kid, and it was a bitter sweet moment, I took a small stumble back, feeling myself become more exhausted “Molly…you’re… we need help over here.” Miss smith screamed, I put my hand up in protest, but was quickly fading, a pair of heavy footstep raced towards me, and I was more then happy to lean against the strong frame, as a pair of protective arms wrapped around me, keeping me on my feet. “Hey look at me.” The voice spoke quietly and my head seemed to tilt up moving on its own, a small smile tugged on my lips as I locked eyes with Ryland “it’s okay I’m okay.” I whispered back, my legs were ready to give out from under me, but before I could hit the ground ryland picked me up bridal style, my head dangling off of his arm, I could tell we were moving but I couldn’t figure out much more before it all faded into a silent black void.
