The Morning after The Time

I got mad and then I thought about it how I could stay mad after that. Mom and I started cleaning up. Then we realized Dad and Jager had every egg broken and there wasn’t a bit of flour in the house. “Jessie I’ll go to Joe’s and get some eggs and flour, finish cleaning up and when I get back we’ll start breakfast.” Mom was still fuming and left the house. I started laughing at the mess and the situation. Then I was even happier that Dad and Jager had bonded. Jager had to do something big to get him on his side, but what? The next thing I knew I could hear the outside door open. I thought it couldn’t be mom she just left, I looked up and it was Bruce. “What in the blue hell happened here?” Bruce asked, “We get robbed?” “Dad thought that he was going to cook breakfast for him and Jager after Drinking all night. They just went to bed.” I replied. “Mom must be irate?” Bruce chuckled “Dadis in the dog house now for sure. Especially with what everything needs to be done this week, with Jeanne's wedding. You know Mom is not going to let him sleep all day. He will be lucky she lets him sleep till noon.” “He was; The way she feels he will be lucky he will be allowed to be in the house. I think she was more pissed that he got Jager drunk.” I laughed “And I bet you were calm too?” Bruce commented. “I was furious until as they were going upstairs and Dad said about the Davis women and he said he wouldn’t change it for anything. My heart just warmed up and I couldn’t stay mad. But of course, I will make him think I am though.” I chuckled. “That’s cruel sis,” Bruce remarked. “I know. Hey why is Dad being so nice to Jager, I thought he would have pushed him over the side and left him in the middle of the Atlantic.” I inquired. “Dad or Jager didn’t tell you?” Bruce was surprised. “Tell me, Bruce.” I glared at him. “Dad was dumping off pots and got caught. He went over the side and was going under. JP jumped off the boat and unhooked him and saved his life. Plus he couldn’t shut up about you. How you were too good for him and you were the best thing that ever happened to him, and how he will do anything for you because he couldn’t imagine his life without you and so on.” Bruce explained. “No wonder Dad got hammered. I would want to forget that too.” I replied. “Is that why you were in early? I asked “Yes, that’s why Jager stayed on the boat. We figured if you saw him soaked you would put it together and Dad did not want you figuring it out.” Bruce said. “Then you would have broken down and told Mom she would have been upset. Well you know Dad he was not having his girls worry about him.” Bruce reiterated. “I can’t believe it, and I gave Dad such a hard time. I feel so bad. I knew Dad wasn’t himself when we went for ice cream. ” I told Bruce. “I see you, Jeanne, Mom freaked out before you know the whole story.” Bruce scolded me. “And the Davis Boys give us good reason too, all of yours and Dad's antics. Not like you’re choir boys.” I snapped back at Bruce. Mom came through the door scolding “What are you two shouting about? There has been enough shouting in this house for one day.” Bruce and I had cleaned up while Mom was at the store. Mom had bags full of groceries in her hands and more in the car; Bruce went to the car and brought in the rest, while mom and I packed them away. Bruce sat at the table yakking Mom's and my ears off while we were cooking. Mom was making chocolate chip pancakes on the griddle and I was cooking eggs on the stove. We were getting ready to start the bacon, ham and sausage when Jeanne came downstairs still irate at Bo for passing out. I passed her a pan “Start frying, there is still a lot to do.” We cooked everything up then Mom told me to go wake up Jager and Dad. I went in to wake Jager. I creped into the room lay down next to him and kissed him on the neck, then his cheek. Jager started to stir and rolled over and kissed me, and of course, I kissed him back, and then we kissed a little more. “You’re not mad at me?” Jager was a little surprised. “How could I be mad at you,” I said before I kissed him again. “Why, not that I’m complaining that you’re happy and kissing me but it was about 3 hours ago you wanted to strangle me.” Jager was puzzled. I kissed him again. “I know. I know everything. Bruce told me.” And I kissed him again. “Jess you can’t say anything. I promised your father I wouldn’t say anything.” Jager popped up and pleaded with me. “I won’t Jager My father is a proud man, plus if my mother found out she would not let him out on the water again,” I assured Jager. Then we started kissing again. We kissed a little more and it was like he came to his senses “If your father catches us he will drop me in a lobster pot.” Jager insisted. “Ok.” I kissed him one last time. “Go downstairs to get some breakfast,” I said to him. “I have to go wake Dad.” “I’ll see you downstairs baby.” Jager kissed me and I left to go to Mom and Dad's room. I walked into the room and yelled. “Dad wake up time to get some food.” Dad groaned. I started jumping on the bed the same as I was a little girl. I jumped and jumped, and finally, Dad woke up. “Alright, I’m up. I knew you and your mother would not let me sleep.” Dad groaned. “Daddy I only get two weeks with you and I am going to spend all the time with you I can hung over or not.” I declared. Daddy jumped up and gave me a big hug “Yes and we will. I’m going to spend all the time together we can.” “Now get up there is breakfast, before Mom comes after us.” I chuckled. Dad and I went downstairs, he went to kiss mom and she turned away. “Come on Ellie. I’m sorry, forgive me please it will never happen.” Dad pleaded, smiled and put his arms around her. Mom can never stay mad at Dad for too long, she finally gave in and let him kiss her and we all ate breakfast, laughed about last night, and talked about the wedding and just life. Then we looked at the time it was one o’clock. “Oh my God, we have to go. Sis, Mom we have to go get ready, we have to be there by two we are not going to make it.” Jeanne was frantic. “What are you talking about Jeanne?” I was puzzled. “The dresses are at Tilley’s we have to get fitted today, Boys get dressed you have to get fitted for your tuxs. We have to go.” Jeanne was freaking out. “It’s one o’clock, Tilley’s is just down the road we could leave at five to two and we would be there on time,” Jim announced. “Good God.” I couldn’t wait; see last time I was home Jeanne showed me the dresses she wanted, but they were from New York and she could not afford it. So one of the times I met with my grandfather Harper we went to New York and I explained the situation, so we went to the designer store and well we bought the dresses she wanted. My grandfather Harper had no problem buying the dresses. He saw it made me happy plus he thought the world of the Davis’s for taking me in and turning me into a good person. I can hear him still say “If you would have been with us you would have turned in to either myself or Morgan and no one would have wanted that.” See Jeanne didn’t know I had no idea that I had the dresses shipped to Tilley’s about two months ago. She picked out some dresses she liked but not like those and a girl should have whatever she wants on her wedding day. “I have to shower,” I stated and went upstairs. Luck we had two bathrooms and dad had two hot water boilers. For three women in a house, you need two fully functioning bathrooms. “Don’t use all the hot water, all of the girls will have to use the upstairs bathroom and the boys will shower downstairs,” Ellie shouted. “Bruce go first,” Ellie yelled. “I showered at Lori’s this morning,” Bruce stated. “JP has to go first, he got more hair than the girls, and he will have to get all prettied up.” Jim laughed. Jager laughed back at him and ran upstairs to get his clothes. I was waiting at the top of the stairs. “You could always shower with me,” I told him as I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him. “That would be nice but your father would kill me.” He said as he looked into my eyes and kissed me again. “We have to hurry or your sister will have a stroke.” He went into the spare room and I when into the bathroom. I got out of the shower and called out. “I’m done someone else could come up.” I heard Jeanne tell Mom she showered when she got up, and then I heard Ellie come upstairs and get in the shower. I had to shower first everyone knew how long it took me to get ready. I never had much time to get ready so I put on my makeup and just put some mousse in my hair and roughed it up. I had super curly hair so it didn’t take much to have tight curls in it; I hated doing my hair like that. I liked big curls it took me a lot of time to do it, but I usually had it straight or big curls. When I came down the stairs Jeanne commented. “You’re ready. Really?” “Why are you shocked? It only usually only takes me a half hour to get ready.” I snapped at her. “More like an hour and a half.” Bruce laughed. “Knock it off.” I sneered at Bruce. “You look Beautiful.” Jager looked at me with that half-smirk. “The most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” As I walked toward him and kissed him. “That’s enough you two.” Jim glared at me. “I learned it from you. You always show affection.” I smiled at my Dad. As he glared at me and put his arm around me and we walked to the car. Bruce, Bo, Mikey, Rick, Dad and Jager were going in Bruce’s car an hour later; after all, it is bad luck to see the groom to see the bride's dress before the wedding day. Mom, Jeanne and I went in Dad’s car. The rest of the girls were going to meet us at Tilley’s. Why we didn’t walk I don’t know. We got to Tilley’s June and Amanda was waiting for us. We all walked into Tilley’s together. “Jessie it is so good to see you again.” Tilley came over and gave me a big hug and whispered. “Those dresses are amazing.” She let me go and said. “Let’s do the wedding dress first.” Tilley pulled the dress out of the bag and yet again Jeanne started to scream. “That’s not my dress, that’s the dress from the book. That’s the dress I wanted.” Then Jeanne went over and looked at the bridesmaid dresses. “That’s the one from the book too.” Then she looked over at me. “You did this didn’t you?” I smiled at her. “You did do this Jessie.” Jeanne started to cry and hugged me. “Oh, sis I love you. You are the best sister ever.” Jeanne shrieked in my ear. And we were both crying. “It’s your wedding and you are going to have the best on your wedding day,” I told her as we were both crying and mascara dripping everywhere. “You two stop crying. I am not letting you put on these dresses with mascara running down your cheeks. This is the most expensive material I have ever worked with.” Tilley remarked. Jeanne and I started laughing and Tilley started to fit June and Amanda’s dresses first, while we got ourselves together. The bridesmaid dresses were a pale baby blue sequence down the front of the dress, with the dress flaring out and the most beautiful white open-toed shoes. Each dress was two thousand dollars and with a pair of eight hundred dollar pair of shoes. The wedding dress was sequence straps that come across the back; the upper dress was form-fitting, with sequence going in lines across the stomach. The bottom was a ruffled sheer on the outside with diamond sequence pins holding the sheer. Under it was shining white silk. And of course a crinoline under that, that makes the dress nice and fluffy. The dress fit Jeanne like a glove, there were no alterations needed. It was beautiful, she was stunning. We looked at the time it was quarter to three. Ellie looked at Jeanne. “You need to get that dress off the boys to get here. It’s bad luck go, go.” Jeanne ran in and took off the dress. “Your turn Jessie,” Tilley said. I went into the dressing room and put on this pale blue dress. The wide material straps with a sequence pin-like thing that kept the strap about two inches wide. The material was a v shape that crossed over and the sequence started at the tip of the v down to the end of the belly and flared out. I felt like a princess, we were out in the shop when the boys came in. Tilley was putting the pins into where she needed the dress to fit better. You could hear a pin drop. I turned around and Jager was just staring at me. “You really are the most beautiful woman in the world,” Jager claimed as he could not take his eyes off of me. “Jager,” I exclaimed as I started to blush, as I looked over I saw my Dad smile. “I never thought I would see you blush.” Dad chuckled. “Tilley, are you done, so I can take this off?” I asked still blushing. “I’m done.” Tilley laughed. I went into the room and got changed. I was blushing still. I never saw Jager look at me like that it was surreal. It was indescribable. I came out and Ellie looked at the boys “ Have fun, the girls and I are going to get some champagne we will meet you back at the house, Tilley you are welcome to come over too after you are done. We have to run into town first and go to the liquor store then we will be home. I could see Dad turning red but he would not say a word to Mom. Mom drove to Bangor; we went to a liquor store. Mom stocked up on beer and we got like ten bottles of champagne, two each. Loaded up the car and drove back home, Mom drove seventy miles both ways so we were home in a little over an hour. Mom made that car fly, thank god no state troopers. When we got home the boys were just getting through the door. Mom sent Dad and the boys to the market to get something for supper. She looked at Dad with those big eyes “Jim those steaks were so good last night, run into town and get some to cook later, Please.” My Dad was like putty. “Boys let's go.” He kissed Mom on the cheek and they went into town. “Alright, girls there gone, pop the cork,” Mom said as she went into the house to get glasses. It was funny she brought down five glasses. Mom started pouring up the champagne and passed the glasses around, and then she passed one to me. I was surprised shocked was more like it. “You’re no regular fifteen-year-old girl; a couple of glasses won’t hurt you. Let’s toast to Jeanne on what will be the most beautiful wedding ever.” Ellie toasted and we all drank. I love champagne it is the best thing ever. I let Ellie think it was the first time I have ever had it. We all went around and toasted Jeanne, when I looked my glass was gone and Ellie poured me another one, we were chatting about everything. One good thing about this wedding was we didn’t have to do any of the prep work I had paid for it all. An hour had gone by we had two bottles of champagne gone by the time the boys got home, they were big bottles and I had about five glasses gone. I wasn’t drunk but I was feeling okay. Mom poured me another one when Dad came through the door. “Ellie that better be ginger ale you are giving our fifteen-year-old daughter,” Jim commanded. “You relax.” Ellie snapped at Jim. “I can give my daughter what I want,” Ellie added. Dad let it go but he was watching what I was drinking. Mom went to the fridge and grabbed the boys some beers as she passed Jim his she kissed him. Dad looked at her “You must not be feeling any pain.” Mom gave him a love tap on the stomach. Mom also topped up all of the girls' glasses as well. I could feel my face getting warm. I wasn’t used to this feeling. “I need to go for a walk,” I stated as I laid down my champagne glass. “See Ellie I told you.” Jim Snapped at Ellie. “I’m not drunk I just need to go for a walk. I go for a walk every day Dad.” I told him. “I’ll go with you; I’d like to see the town,” Jager mentioned. I went and got my coat and Jager and I left. We walked from the house up the highway. “I think Mom was trying to get me drunk,” I told Jager. “My face is a little warm. I’m not going to get drunk in front of Mom and Dad. Dad would hang me. I think she was doing it to get dad going, payback for last night” I laughed. “After the last time I was drunk, I don’t ever want to get drunk again,” I added. “The last time you got drunk you didn’t know the difference. It won’t always be like that, you will learn your limits.” Jager insisted as we started walking across the field. “Where are we going?” Jager asked. “It’s another piece of property I bought when I went to Boston. It’s Riley’s field, and there is the old Riley barn.” I replied. “Come in I have to show you something.” I unlocked the Riley barn and we went in and I put the latch over the door. There were a set of stairs that went to the hay loft. The hay bales were still on the edge blocking the view of the hay loft. “Come on up it’s the best thing you have ever seen.” I boasted. There was a small window up in the hay loft that you could see out over the town and the ocean. It was beautiful. “Isn’t this the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?” I looked at Jager. “The second.” Jager looked me in the eyes. I looked down and was blushing. Jager lifted my chin and kissed me. I smiled. “The hay is still in the corner as usual. Something’s never change.” I laughed and sat down in the hay. “What’s that?” Jager inquired and sat next to me. “We’ll in Boston you have Lulu Point, We have Riley’s barn. I have had it locked up since I bought it so I don’t know where the kids go now.” I answer. “Oh, so you did have your motives for coming here.” Jager gave me that half smile and put his arm around me. “Well, of course, I had to have somewhere where we could have some alone time.” I grinned. Jager leaned in and kissed me. We started making out and we lay in the hay. We kissed and things started to get heated. I had my arms around him, slid my hands down his back and started feeling his buttocks. Jager started kissing my neck slid his hand down my side, put his hand under my shirt and started feeling my breasts. As we were making out a little more and taking a sharp turn around second base I took off my shirt and Jager started kissing my breast. I never felt like this in my life, I knew I was only fifteen but I was more mature than a fifteen-year-old. After all, I was a senior. People that were my age were doing this stuff all the time. All I could keep thinking was this was the right time. I unbuttoned Jager’s jeans and we were hot and heavy, I slid my hand under his jeans, as Jager unclipped my bra. We were headed to third base fast, I never felt like this ever. I unbuttoned my jeans with my free hand. We are heading straight to home base. I pulled down Jager’s pants and he pulled off mine, we were in our underwear making out, hands all over each other. I was so ready to go all the way; I knew Jager would not make the move so I had to. We were on the fast track to home, I never wanted something so bad I went to pull down Jager’s Boxers, thinking this was it; we were going to make love for the first time. As I was sliding the waistband of his boxers down over his hip Jager jumped up off me. “We can’t do this,” Jager exclaimed. I was so upset “What did I do wrong?” I was so embarrassed. “Baby look at me.” Jager lifted my chin. “You did nothing wrong Jess. We’re not ready for this yet baby”. “You mean I’m not ready for this yet.” I started to cry I grabbed my clothes and started putting them on. I felt like I had made a fool of myself. “This has nothing to do with you not being ready.” Jager grabbed me by the hand. “Please sit down. This is about me. I want our first time to be special; s*x is nothing to take lightly. I want our first time not to be in some hay loft. Plus your dad would kill me and Morgan would have me thrown in jail; we would never see each other again. But really that isn’t even why. I want our first time to be special like on our wedding night candles, roses, and champagne, I want our first time to be a true commitment to each other. I don’t want to rush this, and I don’t want you to rush this because you think this is what I want.” Jager explained. “I love you Jessica Michaela Davis and we will have the rest of our lives to show each other how much we love each other.” I was still upset but I knew Jager had a point, what if someone came in and saw us the door is only easy to jimmy open. If Morgan ever found out Jager would be in jail. Knowing my luck we would and I would get pregnant my first time. But a part of me was still upset. “Come here.” Jager pulled me close to him. “Please sit with me.” And I did. I sat there with Jager and he put his arm around me. I looked into his eyes as he wiped the tears from my eyes. “I love you please don’t ever forget that. You are the only woman for me ever; as long as I live I will love you. I swear.” “I love you Jean Philippe and I will always love you,” I replied. It was the first time I said those words to him. He looked at me I don’t know if he was surprised, stunned but his jaw dropped. Then a huge smile. “ I have been waiting for you to say those words to I didn’t think you ever wood after Christmas. I hope this means you trust me again.” His eyes were tearing up as he placed his hand on my face. I leaned my cheek into this hand. “I love and trust you completely. I know I’m not the easiest to love. You never gave up on me and I thank God you didn’t.” A tear rolled my cheek. Jager wiped my tear with his thumb. “I will never give up on you; I will always love you. He kissed me. He held me in his arms as I lay there with my head on his chest, thinking now more than ever he does love me. Morgan’s little plot has failed. I should let it go and just enjoy loving Jager as he loves me and I truly believe he loves me. We sat there till my eyes were no longer puffy and we then walked down to the waterfront to watch the sunset. We sat on the Breakwater with the waves lapping against it. We didn’t get wet the sea was calm, that still calm that the sun glared off the ocean. It was one of those perfect moments in life; Jager and I were sharing it. It truly was perfect. Next thing you know Ellie and Jim were behind us. “Hey what are you two kids doing?” Jim asked. “Enjoying the sunset,” I answered. “Mom and Dad pull up some breakwater and enjoy it too,” I advised. “It’s good for the soul.” The four of us sat there and watched the sun go down it was a nice moment. After the sunset, the four of us got up and went home, Dad and the boys were going out in the morning so they had to be up early. Monday morning they go out early, especially this week. They need to get two loads in to make up for Saturday off, plus it was a full moon and there is some old wives tale that lobsters are fuller when there is a full moon. “Hey Jim, can I go with you again tomorrow?” Jager asked “If you want JP, I don’t mind I need all of the help I can get this week,” Jim replied. “That’s good we will be dealing with wedding stuff all week. We will be spending a lot of time at Tilley’s this week anyway.” I replied. We went home the boys went to bed. Mom and I played crib for a little while and just talked for a little bit. I went to bed at midnight. Mom stayed up for a little bit and made breakfast and lunches for the boys. The next thing I knew it was four AM, Jager came into my room, kissed me on the head and I woke. “We are going out now; I will see you when we get back in.” Jager smiled. “Be careful babe,” I replied kissed him and rolled over and went back to sleep.
